  1. Coach Stewart said last year that Sulphur Springs had the best offense that he had ever seen in High school. that includes lake Travis. I do believe that I will go with his judgement. Last year Sulphur Springs was the best team in 4A. That is his opinion and if it's yours then that's cool but if you ask around the state who the best team in all of Texas was I'd bet my money on Lake Travis any day of the week. Even I love my Cougars however I'm a realist and not a "homer" when it comes to who really is and isn't the best in any particular year? Sulphur Springs was good yes however they woulda got beaten also by LT as that Stud QB at Lake Travis was a Man amongst boys! Lastly, what were the scores in Finals vs. Sulphur Springs and when Dayton played 'da wood...just curious? We had defensive starters out at every level last year when we played you, our defense overall was in turmoil. Not making excuses just thinking that these facts had something to do with the final score of the game. Good luck Friendswood except this weekend. GO BRONCOS Oh no, you didn't play us last year as I am from La Marque and I wasn't trying to be an *ss when asking for those scores as I honestly don't recall what they were? Good luck to both teams this year!
  2. I stand corrected, you are right, it was the semi-finals however Lake Travis would have rolled anyone in Texas last year as they did to Longview in the finals. I agree. Did you see what Longview did to Allen Friday night? Longview (2008 4A D1 State Finalist) beat Allen (2008 5A D1 State Champ). I think Longview and Lake Travis will do very well again this year. Yes I did see that score and a fellow Cougar fan of mine who lives in Longview says they are world beaters this year but we will have to wait and see? Max Preps has Longview ranked 4th in the Nation so yes, they are a Titan to contend with and it's gonna be hard to take them down!

  5. Well, I can't really comment on how good Dayton really is this year as I haven't looked too much into them as of yet but as for 'da wood they aren't as lethal a team as last year on offense but they haven't lost too many steps so it should make for an interesting game. From what I hear from Fatdaddy though is that their D is supposed to be pretty solid but it's really hard to tell based solely on a scrimmage against a Ball High team who runs a predominantly running offense but like us last year Ball is starting over with new coaches, new offense and a new defense. As for Bay City, they aren't exactly world beaters either as their program has been down in the dumps for the last 5-6 years so I wouldn't hang my hat on rolling over 'da wood based on that victory alone. Also, for the person who said that Dayton was in the Alamodome playing for a state title while 'da wood was Christmas shopping that's incorrect as they were playing in the other 4a division Championship vs. Lake Travis who was by far the best team in all classifications last year. It should be a good game though and I'm interested in seeing how their secondary is this year as they are yet to be tested so it's an unknown. I do hope that their run D has improved though as although they railroaded us last year our Freshman QB and Freshman RB ran all over them and put up big numbers in that high scoring affair which they eventually won. 24-4A is gonna be tough this year as even our bottom feeder Santa Fe is bringing back 18 starters from last years squad if I remember correctly? Angleton should win the district title but what's on paper isn't always what transpires on the field of play as Manvel, 'da wood, Dawson and yes even us all have legitimate chances at grabbing the crown. I'm not too sure about TC this year though as they appear to be a team that could cause upsets here and there throughout the district play and possibly grab the 4th playoff spot but I wouldn't bet the bank on that? Oh yea, I forgot about Brazosport who probably won't contend for the title but may grab the 4th playoff spot as well...4th spot is a toss up in 24-4A?
  6. Good Luck to you guys! I hope you guys win! We're pulling for you guys over at La Marque!
  7. I'd have to say yes due to the expectations that were placed on Friendswood's season even before the 1st game. I'm not familiar enough with Central's preseason expectations to speak on their behalf?
  8. Man o Man, I gotta take my hat off to Central (especially their "D") as they are playing very well and holding their own quite well with 'da wood!
  9. You're quite welcome! I just hope the broadcast isn't tape delayed like they were a few weekends ago...it was a bit confusing to say the least. Kickoff is @ 6:00. It's working fine as the pregame is happening now.
  10. Here's the link to the web cast over at TSRN if interested? Broadcast starts at 5:35 according to TSRN. Friendswood vs. Bmt. Central
  11. Your exactly right at Lamarque they start at a very young age teaching their kids how to do things wrong. Surely you jest? To make such an outrageous overall conclusion based on one game between LM vs. Lumberton is ludicrous. Last years failure of discipline was an exception to the rule as far as tradition and sportsmanship goes as it pertains to LM. I don't advocate any of LM's antics last year as being a lifelong LM Coog fan and alumnist under the guidance of former disciplined coaches such as Massey, Weddel and Erwin those type of actions were few and far between as it relates to the football field. Also, to set the record straight am I correct to judge Lumbertons program based solely on their antics as well during that ballgame? As I clearly recall there were numerous personal foul penalties both ways and both teams coaches had to be talked to during the game (play was halted) to warn both sides of cleaning up their antics to get the game somewhat under control. My city, La Marque has played many triangle teams in the playoffs including Central, WOS, PNG, Nederland as well as numerous others in years past and most real fans would agree that La Marque isn't a classless program as some Lumberton fans have concluded based solely on 1 game alone. Lastly, to address your specific quote directly, you don't make 9 State championship appearances and win 5 actual State crowns by having taught your kids how to do things wrong starting at a very early age as those accomplishments alone should indicate what we "normally" teach our kids, get real fella! Easy killer I was being sarcastic because I thought what he said was ridiculous. Ah my bad on my part as I misconstrued who you were directing your sarcasm at, my apologies!

  13. Thanks for the kind words but when you're at the bottom there's only really one way to go thereafter. We won't seriously contend for a state championship for a few years though. Last years lack of coaching and not getting our younger players experience really has reflected in how poorly we started out. Not to mention a ton of new coaches, new offense and defense, no spring ball and a less than normal year in regards to the talent level in the upper class men (no disrespect intended.) Hopefully you guys can turn things around and we can continue improving and at least grab the 3rd or 4th spot for the playoffs and go a round or 2 to give our freshman some experience!
  14. La Marque 49 (Final) Brazosport 28 Slowly improving and not too bad considering our QB and RB are freshmen and 3 other starters are sophomores.
