Why is Orangefield ducking Bridge City? It is a shame they are not playing.

What you fail to realize is that Johnson would play nearly ever snap, even in blowouts. Heard played about half the games most of the season and wasn’t just a one man show, he had help at the running back position. Also, look at Guyer’s schedule vs what PNG plays.
Ehlinger only played one more game than RJ his junior year and dwarfed his passing numbers with teams like Lake Travis and North Shore on the schedule. He too was pulled a lot due to Westlake blowing people out that year. RJ has a long way to go before he can throw the ball efficiently at the next level, will probably be third or fourth in the qb room as far as pure passers go unless Beuchele transfers.
Remember 247 sports had Jalen Hurts ranked the #1 dual-threat in the country and now he doesn’t have a job because of his passing ability, even though people raved about it in high school. Not saying he won’t get a lot better but he’s a ways off a kid like Spencer Sanders who I think would be Herman’s JT Barrett/Braxton Miller type qb.
Not to knock PN-G as I am from there but RJ does much more with much less than Heard had in high school.

BH will avoid coming west of the trinity... they will dodge another bullet.
Isn't Barbers Hill West of the Trinity or did they relocate it?

Coach wins the State Championship, then in no time he is out of a job...
The "story" is that he was "caught using chewing tobacco on the side lines", and he "exceeded" the 8 hour / week practice limit. Oh the horror!
Any blind man can see whats happening in Desoto. Rotten to the core.
They tried to fire him last year. He is just too white.

Sad and pathetic situation at Desoto

Anyone have any thoughts on the big RT for PN-G? He was a soph this year.
-
Big bro addressed it a while back with a no comment. It was brought up due to people thinking RJ should go somewhere he could win a state championship. So it has been discussed here. The latest rumor centering around whether PNGISD allows Decemeber grads is new. Whether or not the rumor about RJ is true or not, there should be someone on here with knowledge of PNG having the program in place or not. If they do then the rumor could be shot down easily.

As an administrator of a sports message board, the following sentence may sound like a statement against interest, but here goes.
DO YOU BELIEVE EVERY RUMOR YOU READ ON A SPORTS MESSAGE BOARD?
Until we hear that Roschon has transferred (which I doubt will happen), I think all should take any rumors of his impending departure with a grain of salt.
Of course not, but with it being discussed so much on other boards I thought the local board could have more insight.

I guess I am confused. Roschon can still play next fall and graduate in December 2018.
Are you suggesting he is trying to graduate right now? If so, no way he has enough credits halfway thru junior year.
The rumor is PN-G will not allow him to graduate in Dec. 2018 as they dont offer an early graduation program for seniors. Honestly I don't know where this is coming from but it is all over the boards for UT sports saying he will be going to either IMG or a private school in Austin.
-
Surely someone on here knows if PN-G offers mid-term graduation or not.
-
I hope so. A lot of the Texas football recruiting sites keep bringing it.
-
If the rumors are true and PN-G will not allow Roschon to graduate early (which is stupid if true) who will step up?

Good conversation! I was a freshman Danny Malone's last year and heard his wrath more than once. He was your classic throw back coach.
The only reason I compared 89 to 2017 was due to my friends brother playing on the 89 team (Scott Young) and the 2017 season just finishing.
Scoring points is fun to watch but having that mentality to physically impose your will and make the other team fear you is something that is lacking today for most high school football I watch.

I think this years team would've matched up well with PNG if we would've made the playoffs. Our offensive for most of the year was explosive and our Defense was better then yall's. Don't count us out, although historically PNG has had BH number, we have beat Ned and Vidor in the past. Dayton is struggling bad, so after Crosby, BH will be in the mix along with PNG, and Ned.
I am just messing with you. It is like Ned beating Crosby and PN-G beating BH. Then it flip flops. I enjoy playing BH, Dayton, Crosby. It isn't that far and they all have good fans that like to talk a little smack on here.

That's part of the problem when I was looking at possible districts. I read that UIL wants 8 to 9 teams in a district. I don't see how they could because there's not enough 5a D2 schools unless they pull from way out, like Baytown Lee, BH, Crosby, Cleveland, Dayton to go with HISD, but then the Golden Triangle is short.
There is going to be a lot of travel involved for sure. I like what y'all will bring to the district versus what Livingston, etc didnt. I will miss Lumberton.

aki1994, pretty soon, we gonna be hijacking your district as well. lol
Now if you were from Dayton or Crosby I might believe that, being from The Hill y'all will just be another stepping stone on the way to the playoffs instead of sending y'all home annually after the first round.

Come on man! Y'all are hijacking my thread! Friggin people West of the Trinity, smh.

I know nothing about the '89 Indians, but the 2017 Indians would destroy them. Players are better these days. Coaches are better these days. That's just the way it is my man
Ha. Good stuff. Maybe better at drawing up a 4 man WR play but some coaches still have't figured out that when you have two WR's to the left you should probably have 2 DB's covering them with a 3rd shaded over.

Don’t need to go back to 89.....PNG has had better teams under Faircloth than this 2017 team
That is not the point. We were having a discussion about culture. 1989 to 2017 is a good generation gap and the question I posed to him was could the teams like 89' keep up with the spread offenses of today. So we dove down further and I wanted to get the boards opinion. Not for finger pointing or anything like that. Just some football talk for people who were there to see both.
-
Just a little historical chat for conversation. Also the 89 team season highlights are on youtube. My son will have a new favorite video to watch.
How would you stack up the 1989 PN-G team versus the 2017 PN-G team? I had a long discussion with a good friend whose brother played on the 89 team and we agreed the 89' team would be too much physically for the finesse style of play we have now.
Bost was a beast both ways. McGill would do his thing and Robertson was accurate with a big arm and line. On defense the 89' team had people that would hit (Carpenter brothers, Viola, etc) and some that played bat *bleep* crazy and would probably scare the piss out of the kids today (Binagia, Whitehead). The secondary with Bost, Gizzi, Droddy, Hart and Scott Young could hang as well so the wild card would be RJ.
Thoughts?

Bingo
So I wonder how they will make a bracket? As is two districts will battle it out for a spot in the regional final. If one district is much stronger you essentially will get a bunch of district re-matches.

There will be only 16 DI districts and 16 DII districts. The total number of teams making the playoffs and the number of rounds with be the same as now.
Got it. So instead of 2 teams from 8 districts in Region 3 we will see 4 teams from 4 districts in Region 3.
-
I am still a little lost on how this plays out in the playoffs. Will there be less districts now? If so will the number of rounds in the playoffs decrease?

Rumor I heard this weekend was that Ned will be installing industrial grade fire monitors to more efficiently soak the field pre any game with PN-G. Should save taxpayers some money over time as opposed to rolling out 50 water hoses.
