You know, it looks like there is a "place holder" in the South End Zone - S101 and S102. Not sure what may end up there.

Since they split D1 into two subdivisions around 1979'ish (D1-A now FBS and D1-AA now FCS) - It's a common mistake. But ... D1-AA teams don't like to be called D2 just like D2 don't like to be called D3.
Here's some playoff brackets to check out to kind of clear up the Divisions:
Div1-A FBS (BCS rankings)

Div1-AA FCS Playoff Brackets

I think LU is doing a much better job self promoting than I've seen in the past. This is both academically and athletically. I'm hearing many more commercials and the coaches and players are out in the community. They are heading in the right direction.
Yes, there is room for improvement with their internet presence and merchandise marketing.
I know it's tough staying on top of the web site updates but I hate seeing - for instance - Men's Golf with only a 2006-2007 Media Guide listed.
Also, it would be good if Lamar would at least be listed on ncaa.com/shop when you select all teams and see all the other SLC teams there.
Third, it would be nice to see a Lamar University license plate listing along with the other universities: http://rts.texasonline.state.tx.us/NASApp/txdotrts/SpecialPlateOrderServlet?grpid=60&pltid=85
Fourth, it would be great to have a web based form to join the Cardinal Club and accept dues.
Also, looking at the athletic site, you wouldn't even know there is an "L" Association (Lettermen Association). This would help prospective athletes, who may be browsing through, know we are building a tradition here. That's one thing I noticed Georgia State has done right on their website with their "Letterwinner's Club".
The Cardinal Club and Alumni Newsletter email updates have been great! I have been also been able to find LU merchandise online at several sites (cbssportsstore.com, etc) so I know they are making headway in the internet marketing area. It's just happening faster in the traditional marketing areas. -
TT can sleep easy now:

Has any one heard when they are gonna start selling the LU Football gear and releasing the uni's
Other than event specific point of sale, I haven't seen anything LU Football related for sale online.
In fact, watching the College World Series NCAA promo's regarding
made me want to check it out. Nothing at all for Lamar out of the 400+. The good news is you can get some good Sam and McNeese gear (and UTSA and .....) -

Will bench seat season tickets have a psl?

What is the significance of the PA News running this story again? Not enough depressing things going on in PA these days? Gotta try to drag something else down like LU Football (a positive in the area)?
"Apathy is almost too mild a word to describe the Golden Triangle’s collective attitude toward Lamar football. Trying to find a man on the street who’s bought or would buy a ticket to a Cardinal football game is like trying to find somebody in Vidor who’d ask Muhammad Ali for his autograph."
I guess he wanted everyone to remember he stereotyped Lamar fans as apathetic and the town of Vidor as racist.

I don't remember this being an issue when we played TexTech or Arizona State (or UTEP etc). I don't remember anyone having a season ending injury during those games but I do remember some season ending injuries against some D-1AA schools. Who knows, maybe we beat the odds those two years. As far as confidence, it gave me more confidence when we would beat a UTEP and give an Arizona State a heck of a fight. I remember being disappointed but not having a lack of confidence when we left Lubbock. It was a tough game, no lie, but an equally physical game was Alcorn State at their site in '89.

Is this a newby sports writer? formerly Div II ??

Who knows maybe the Bears and Cards can get together for a football game in the future. I was a junior at Baylor the last time that happened in 1980.
This has been a great thread continued success to the Cardinals and to all their fans!
Actually the last time they met was 1981. 18-17 Lamar

I bought my tickets online. If judging by the seats that were "unavailable" for me to select is accurate, there should be a good turnout. I'm not sure how accurate that is though. I would just say that if you have any season tickets and are not going - give them away.
For student attendance, one question. Does Lamar run a gametime shuttle by the dorms and Lamar local area now?
I'm pretty sure I know the answer to that but thought I'd ask.
I'm not even sure Lamar has the ability like aTm has to run shuttle buses.

Kinda off topic again. I was at Dayton 2 years ago (really don't want to talk about the outcome of that game :'( ) Very Nice field. Has there been any other upgrades since then?
-
Actually "Umphrey claims name for LU stadium"
It's 'Bud' Leonard Field.

yep, football is football. It would take A LOT of convincing for me to believe there was anything other than just hard honest play. AB will be playing on Sat nights if he wants to. I told my wife that last year (his sof. year) when I first saw him play. I don't see anything changing that. Just get well.....

When was Burt hurt? I remember seeing him in the Montagne Football Office with a leg/kneee wrap in '88. I can't remember if it was a spring visit or fall of '88. Did he have another surgery or something and did that affect his playing at the next level?

Any given Friday night ... I'm from King and my college roommate was from Nederland. We had a nice rivalry going in '88 with the King/Ned bidistrict game. I thought I'd call him up this week to poke him in the ribs but I sure would hate to have to eat crow. Anyway I'm picking King by 13.
-
sorry LU Cards, without the Woodard info, your original Q fell on deaf ears didn't it.
-
When I was at King in the late '80s it was packed and loud.
I've been in L-town now to long. I couldn't tell you how it is at King but let us know how it goes (I'm curious).

Congrats to Lumberton, but talking about tacky with fans, I was standing at Merriman and Avenue C when a car load of Lumberton fans drove by me and hung thier heads out of the window saying "How does it feel? How does it feel?" and laughing. I laughed later about it, but come on guys it's all in good fun, but dang do you have to go as far as to yell at people.
Just goes with the game. Last year my wife and I along with my 9yr old and 3yr old were leaving the Lumberton PNG game (streets/neighborhood behind stadium) and a truck drove by us yelling at us and shooting us the finger. Just had to use it as a teaching experience for my 9yr old, blow it off, and take the loss.
-
This should be a good game. I don't know much about either this year.
Just looking at the stat's both have a good O but it looks like Dayton may have the edge on D.
Hopefully my Panthers will edge this one out.

Cody coming to Lamar would be great news. It would be fun to watch him play again!

$500? Seriously? $100 to park at the Montagne? Guess there won't be any actual students tailgating! lol
[/quote]
That's a good observation. But I guess 5 students can go in and get a spot @$100. $20 per student for 6 games. $3.33 per game. Or, just "make the rounds" - Frat and Sorority tents etc.
