Congrats to the Beaumont Breakers G U13 D2 team. They played tough at the state tournament in San Marcos. They won games 1 and 2 but lost game 3 Sunday 1-0 and ended up getting 3rd place by point system. They battled very well.

I guess I gotta add that Jeff Conway over at Sam was a real good receivers coach for us during the Alborn years.
-
K. Smith was a nice surprise. I gotta give the Sparks young man a couple of stars on some of his put coverages. But... Hmmmm.
-
He may not want it to go away. It's a minor infraction that's getting press across the country.

Here are a couple of Pics from the 1989 season (vs SFA and vs SHSU). Definitely more than 1000 people
That card has been more than overplayed. I think they wanted to shoot the patient before he fully woke up.

Lamar did not have good attendance that's for sure but it wasn't as bad as it's being billed.
Let's see, they killed football in 1989 because the people in the stands in the pics above really aren't there. But why did they kill softball in 1987 ? They gave the program 5 years and then quit on them too.
I'm glad that era is over :)
As for FBS, I'd like to see it at some point. I've always thought SBC is a better fit for us initially if that chance came up in a few years. -
LU is 24-4 against Kingsville. Last played in 1998 with a win. Last loss to Kingsville was 12/2/1963

;D
Two Lamar Football seasons ago LU beat UTEP
Four Lamar Football seasons ago LU beat Northern Illinois -
It was 2009:
vs Northwestern 2134
vs Central Arkansas 2817
Who knows what the weather was but the Northwestern was on Halloween and we are well aware of the coaching changes they've made since.

Great hands, great route runner. Not a high end speed guy. But who is in I-AA?
Danny woodhead
He was D2

I heard Jerome Mathis and Randy Moss can run a little bit. (though Moss was at Marshall as both div1-aa and div1-a transition time) ... anyway has there been a pro timing day at LU yet or will that be later in the Spring? -
LU was 1-aa playoff eligible 82-89. But only "at large" eligible 87,88,89 due to not being in a conference for football.

On "Most Passing Attempts Allowed" it looks like their 332 on 11 games is about average for NCAA:

Remember before the early 80's and the Run-N-Shoot and Spread offenses began rolling strong, the running game was the mainstay. -
42 - 7 halftime GSU KO return for TD
I haven't seen an injury but I've only watched the 2nd Q (ESPNU) -
Is there a "line" on stuff like this :)
Let's see, I predict GSU - 1 knee, 1 concussion, 4 minor injuries
Bama - 3 minor injuries
Hopefully I'm wrong on the knee and concussion - kind of don't like making these types of prediction but yet it is kind of fun. The game will get ugly but I don't think the injuries will be as bad as some may think. -
Im betting he already knows and already knew but didn't want to show his cards before this game.

Watching video stream here:

1:30 left in 2nd 14-6 ND -
I watched this game on the "All Access" stream. First time I've used that. That's a great feature. I wanted to head out there but couldn't.
-
I'm glad to see they're probable for return. I didn't know how bad each were and was wondering.

The West Virginia head coach confirmed today they Jeremy Johnson is leaving the program:
Coach Bill Stewart confirmed on his radio show last night that third-string freshman quarterback Jeremy Johnson is leaving WVU. Johnson has been dealing with homesickness all semester, and at one point this season updated his facebook page to say he was transferring to Baylor. While that post has since been removed, it seems a likely landing spot for Johnson, since it is much closer to his hometown of Houston, Texas.

Just a little trivia tid-bit: Bill Stewart was the "Tight Ends/Tackles" coach for Arizona State back in 1988 when Lamar played them. -

pissed is an understatement...defensive came to play and for the most part played well
The Defense is looking better and are showing improvement. They played well considering the situations they are put in. He!!, I think they have to play 2/3 or more of every game. It takes some grit to dig down deep and come right back on after you made it off the field. Specially to do it over and over. -
an A&M game was one of the first FBS games announced early on. I think that may be the first iteration that hasn't been cleaned up on that site. I would bet the current Hawaii, OSU, then A&M is still accurate.

Just out of attendance curiosity found this webpage:
http://web1.ncaa.org/web_files/stats/football_records/DI/2010/Attendance.pdf
Interesting:
1989 avg 1-A 41,970 1-AA 11,020
2009 avg 1-A 46,281 1-AA 8,654
The page has breakdown by conf's etc. They slice and dice all the numbers.... -
Oh yeah ... forgot to mention. Coach Conway in "on the evil side now" :)
