I can't find an official stat sheet judging from the main players' numbers it looks like Humble held Splendora to under 200 total yards of offense after they rushed for 437 on Dayton. After running for 344 yards in his last game Evan Nichols was held to 74 yards on 22 carries Friday night. He didn't have a run over 10 yards, Splendora's qb was 7-12 for 59 yards to go with 16 rushing yards.

I think Splendora is what we thought they were, they just played over their skis on Dayton. I don't think they win another district game other than KP or Caney Creek.

I agree with your assessment.  They eat a lot of clock, but some of that was poor d-line play from Humble.  It took them 9 minutes to score in the first quarter.  And about 6-7 minute possessions after that.  Humble made a defensive personnel change that pretty much made what splendora was doing irrelevant.  Moved OL J.Castillo to defensive line.... boy do I think this kid plays the wrong position.

I never felt like we were going to lose the game.  Despite some really bad mistakes on getting plays in and looking disoriented the entire night.   I honestly don't know how Dayton lost this game.   Splendora beats kpark and caney creek, buts it's hard to see how they beat anyone that can score quickly

  2. NC by 3-4 scores.

Humble would have beaten Splendora by 2 TDs to close the game had it not been for some really bad play calling in the closing 2 minutes.  It was a game I felt we could have won by 3 TDs.

Humble lacks the diversity of the ways we can score and offensive balance that NC has.   Yet we really had no problem moving the ball. NC gets into the 40's.  I'll give splendora 21pts

Doesn't matter how you read them 398. It's a 6A team that plays in the Katy ISD district and almost made the playoffs last year and they outnumber y'all by almost 1,000 kids. I didn't get to see Crosby's scrimmage versus Huffman but I did see us against Nederland. After doing all my pre-season research I passed by CCRed's office and started showing him film. I told him I was picking y'all second in district because you had looked the best in the district from what I had saw up to that point.

Keep it up and hopefully y'all don't have the notorious late season fade that's plagued y'all lately. I'm really pulling for Coach West this season.

I get that about there size, however I still don't know how this translates when we are challenged by better teams. How good or bad is Tompkins?  What was clear is that they were too slow up front on both sides.  We held them to something like 100 yards all night.     I saw a lot liked though .   Kids played hard, even when they blew it on those fumbles.  Defense looks great up front, and that was an area of concern for me. Our QB situation is infinitely better than last year, despite him have a sort of rough game, But he made reads and decisions that we didn't see last year.  Offense is revamped to play to our strengths.  And we have solid weapons to choose from.   This is a team built for a run.

i really want this for our kids, and for coach West. Been a rough offseason.

At at the end of the day, there is a ton to work on.  Just glad footballs back

I have to switch my predictions some based on some of the FNF info. New Caney got some transfers from KP and Caney Creek that it looks like might help, but Humble looks like they finally have a trigger man to run the show after the promising freshman from last year transferred out. My new predicted order of finish is:

We will see on the Humble's QB, he is most certainly physically capable of doing a really good job for the Wildcats.   He is a big dense kid, with a pair of legs and a strong arm.   I hope he is able to replicate the sort of plays he had on the JV team, but it was clear that he was ready for varsity reps last year.

  5. I'm going with a busted driver's side window, my car ransacked on the inside, and a police report.  Humble football games at Turner are a buffet for thieves.  No thank you

Im Sorry you've had bad experiences in the past. I have lived here all my life, and go to just about every home game.  Ive never had a problem with this before.

    Truly sorry, its unacceptable behavior.

  6.

Humble has very good athletes, and a lot of them. Much like Ozen they do things that can bother Crosby at times. Crosby had over 350 yards of offense last year but turned it over a few times and only managed to punch it in twice. I think Humble only had 90 yards of offense on Crosby's defense.

I think the way Crosby is playing cleaner and more efficiently on offense mixed with Humble being young and still finding their way on defense gives the edge to Code Red. Humble also has to come to Crosby this year.

If Crosby can keep Terio Brown bottled up and not turn the ball over they might be able to pull away late. Very interested to see how this group of athletes looks against theirs.

Think you hit the nail there.

Though, id say that Humble's offense has a lot more potential offensively outside of terio.   In fact the biggest threat isn't terio at all.   Its Freshman QB Terrence Gipson.  He is frustrating for defenses, and uses his athletic ability to buy him some time to strike down field..also good with his legs.   Lord help the team that has to face this kid when he finally get a hang of Varsity football.

Humble will either come and give Crosby all they can handle defensively, and compete offensively.   Or Crosby overpowers our youth, and wins by 20pts.   So tough to tell, and again i hate that this game is so early.

  7. Humble hasn't given me any reason to believe they will win this game.  Perhaps if the game was closer to the end of the season.   I don't honestly think the venue matters to or for Humble.

Humble has to be productive on offense, if we don't... Well it's gonna be a long night.   The defense can't be on the field all night like last year.  Humble effort last year was awesome, but not something I think is duplicatible...

  8. Let me start this off by giving my honest prediction of how this game ends-    27-19 Crosby

    Humble Overview:

We have definitely improved on offense as a whole.  Defensively we show flashes of last year, but we lack experience that is hopefully worked all out by this game.  The first two games were essentially scrimmages as far as I am concerned, because the two teams we did scrimmage did not provide a sufficient measuring stick or practice.   Those two teams were Wheatley, and Caney Creek.  Im sure that when we began scrimmaging them 4 years ago, that it was the right thing to do given how far our program had fallen do to the full effects of a school split.  However I think we have outgrown that stage.   We essentially came out for Reagan under prepared mentally to compete with that level of competition.  No offense to either Wheatley or CaneyCreek, but they are no where near the level of Humble and all they did was buy us some false confidence.

ALL that being said, I fully expect us to compete for a playoff spot this year.   We should only keep getting better as the season continues, and these kids are hungry.   We enter this game 2-1, and Im confident that had we not made so many small errors in the first game...we'd be 3-0.   However, Crosby is for the most part finely tuned...we aren't.   I expect a close contest, but i have no illusion of victory.   Id put our odds of winning at 40% and if we won, it probably be by less than 3.

    Humble Offense:

The scheme hasn't changed, however the players to run it have.   Last year we had two QB's that reallly shouldn't have been playing the position at all,but you have to have QB's. This year we have two QB's, both capable of leading this team.   As of right now we split time between two qb's, probably about 60-40.   #2 QB Marion McIntosh (Sr)  and Freshman (yes Freshman) #1 QB Terrence Gipson.   I would love to see the Freshman get all if not most of all the snaps.  I am HIGHLY impressed with this kid.   This is not someone they through in because they lacked depth, this kid is special.  His stats won't wow you, but his play thus far has left me very impressed.   The starter  is Marion Macintosh(#2), and they both seem okay with sharing the job.

Here is some highlights of the freshman QB Terrence Gipson:

This is the hidden content, please

RB-  #3 Terio Brown has been somewhat quiet until this last game.  He missed half of the first game, and was pretty absent outside of a long run during the tompkins game.   He showed up in the second half of the K-Park game.  Previously it appeared he wasn't as quick in space or as fast... I was wrong.  Kid apparently can turn it on and off, im hoping he keeps it on.   We have 2 other very capable backs as well.   #29 Timothy Brown is a work horse, and I hope he see's more snaps.

WR-  Improved over last year.  However we are on the the short side.   Reagan had some tall athletic DB's and they gave us some trouble, however Im not sure we will run into a team as tall and heavy as Reagan again this year.

OL-  Vastly improved over last year.  Have two big towers at Tackle, a little slow but they have gotten better with each game.  #70 is 6'6 280 and #71 is 6'3ish 310.  interior is light, but they do a decent job.

    Humble's Defense:

We have gotten better each week, and that is a good sign.  I can see the sort of play that we exhibited last year returning, and It something we will need in order to stay competitive.  Our offense is so young, and is guided by two QB's that take some risks... the ability to take a fumble to a TD or an INT to a TD is an essential skill, I believe this unit posses it.   Athletic, fast, but not very tall.
Our pass defense needs work, busted plays happen far too often.  Against Crosby, that will kill us.

I wont give you a breakdown per unit on Defense, simply because it is pretty close to what we had last year.  Not 100% but i think we will get there.

Key players: #40 Vincent Rodgers DE, #57 Lawler Jones DT, #33 Isaiah Longino DE/LB , #44 Langston Tunson LB, and #9 Blake George. FS

Incase i don't get a chance to talk for a couple games,  I wish both teams health and that everything is left on the field for both teams.  Nothing better than watching those kids lay everything out, and making their respective communties proud of their effort...regardless of the outcome.  Of Course...Go Cats!

  9. I for one don't have my playoff tickets on hold, that's for sure.  Heck we may end up with only beating Porter and New Caney before it's all said and done.

At this point you would have to beat either Kingwood Park or Humble, which appear to be about even as it stands right now.    Your better match up is against Humble, given that it appears that they are offensively kin to a sleeping turtle.   However, with Coach West back and your defensive being terrible....its unlikely.

However I digress,  we still have to play New Caney.   Which for me is a trap game, and at this point any team with a better offense is a threat to beat us.

  10. crosby only beat Humble by 7. I just wish dayton would have been healthy for this game Jalen would have rushed for 150+. I really think dayton wins out though.

And had we had Our Head Coach and primary play caller, he would have play called a better game...and Terio Brown would have gotten put in a better position...

Nothing is certain, what is Certain is that yall won.   lets move on.

  11. Told today L Rhone knee injury + a few torn ligaments he would not be able to play for a long time.Certainly a good fb player/kiddo,wish him the best & healing prayers continue. On another note Dayt should have tried to score on 1st & goal@ the 1 foot line w/time running down. Can't play scared fb when 18 max points could decide a tie breaker(playoff seed).Hope that 6 or 7 points don't come back to bite us in da arse later w/Crosby beating Humble by 10 when we had a golden opp to go up 13 or 14 points w/another score

It wasn't worth the risk.  Humble has the athletes to take a fumble, or stripped ball 99 yards.... Its what happened last year.    Why risk it thinking about a tie breaker, when you can for sure leave the building with a win?

  12. he probably was talking about the oline. Dayton was missing 3 starting oline man due to illness. One is about 6"1 315 Hunter is probably 6"4. 280 and Drew probable at least 250. Whole left side of oline was not even suited up tonight. Defensive line not very big but athletic.

So had they played we would of lost by 30? Humble defense is the luckiest defense is texas....sigh. CE King, I guess we will have to keep you below 30 to get some respect....
  13. Great game by both teams. Humble defense put in more work, only wish we had an offensive line to help us put a whole team together.

Humble defense has 10ints on the year now....Tyler Osborn with 5. Pretty impressed with how this kid made the transition from RB to Saftey. Hope he gets to play D1 ball somewhere.

Dayton, I'm sorry one of your kids got hurt. That was terribly ugly, my prayers go to him. Never like to see that.

Dayton played well, kept mistakes down...and made plays when it mattered.

Hope we earned a little respect, considering some of you said our defense wouldn't stop you....and whoever told me your defensive line was 280 Across the board...lol...my friend you are full of it...but they still played well.
