  1. that is usually the problem in the playoffs, after u have used bmt chapter all year. The bmt chapter allows teams to be more aggressive than alot of the other chapters. So when teams go outside the chapter the same thing that was not called in district is called with other chapters. In my opinion that hurt central. I wish the bmt chapter would start calling the hand checking, and all the other things like that. It was very easy to tell the different refs for (the dayton lcm playin game). All the fouls that bmt would not have called where being called by the other chapter. And in my opinion they where the correct calls.

  2. WOW....Nominated for Mc D.'s All-American.......T. Thomas equals WINNER!!!  Team Leader, Great Character, Hard Worker, Humble, Unselfish, and then receive some individual attention...it's the right way to do it and maybe enough to deserve the honor....Why are we giving out recognition for the future potential that some kids possibly have???  Go and earn it....The problem lies with the kids first, but we do not help the situation any when somebody nominates a player based on how good he might possibly be.....One of the very first qualifications should be , is to actually play in High School the year the award is given...Seems pretty simple!

  3. yes discipline from the casual observer can be executing...but most of the time I notice shot selection, sticking to a game plan once one has figured it out...for example, if a team is going to play man and deny certain kids and not others, and if boxing out occurs on a regular basis, if kids behave like they are supposed to and not whining about calls, but just simply playing the game.  If a team breaks a press with the pass and does not try to dribble through it if they can not do so. maybe if a team makes the x-tra pass when called for or a team punches it inside if there is a height advantage, and then goes to the peremiter like Ozen did when they had " The Lottery at one time " kid...... just a few examples...Passion maybe the easiest to see though.....Duke is a great example..Playin hard and being excited about it is passionate, but like last night , does not mean VICTORY....

  4. Hard to determine discipline by color, but not to hard if one has observed both teams...B -Hill is more disciplined than Central, does not mean they will win...Central has better individual overall talent and pretty good coaching...Passion is also easy to observe if you know what it means..my observation on a team in our area called Ozen has maybe the best discipline around year in and year out, " The Theory" should not be an issue...The team that goes out and executes the best, plays the hardest, and plays the smartest usually wins.  Still not a given...it's called BASKETBALL...and there are alot of factors involved.

  5. Urban....Suburban... Basketball people want to see good basketball from kids who know how to act and play.... period. The former Jasper coach hit the nail on the head...Coaches need to teach lessons when called for...The Memorial situation is a sad one..The kid can play, but he has a responsiblity to his community, teammates, and coaches , first. Behave like you're supposed to and people want to come see you play, because by gosh the kid can go....Basketball, it's not an indivdual sport.  If you can't act right it reflects on the others. Golf and tennis are different...individual, not basketball.  Humble, unselfish, committed, hard working, are all traits great players have.  Talent only gets you so far, and if the kid doesn't ever get it, the P.A. rec will end up being his destination...
