Its between Hargrave and Livingston. If you pay for the website access, they flipped to Livingston winning district, Hargrave second, Visor third and LC-M fourth. I'd like to see a repeat, but I'm more interested in them making a run to the region championship. Livingston has enough talent to be play at least three extra games, if not four. Same for Hargrave.

Hamshire-Fannett 53 Livingston 48/FINAL
Lions Pride 2021 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
This game has been scheduled to be in Livingston for quite some time. Since we're on schedule changes, the Jasper-Livingston game is cancelled. Livingston plays at Anderson-Shiro Tuesday at 7. Damn you COVID. -
Hamshire-Fannett 53 Livingston 48/FINAL
Lions Pride 2021 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Was not the best game for Livingston. Throw lazy passes at the end of a quarter, get two treys by the other team to go up. Don't run the man off the three point line, watch four of them fall against you in a quarter. Longhorns played a complete game, Livingston didn't and that's why they won. HF has a good team. They have a good coach. But I was a little embarrassed for their kids as they were getting yelled at half-time on the sidelines and I could hear a lot of it even though I was up high. Not against the criticism or yelling; just go to the locker room and do it in private. -
Livingston 59 Onalaska 55/FINAL
Lions Pride 2021 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Went to the game then went back to work. Again, I don't brag about games you're supposed to win, but I'm grateful for each one. And as I did in football, I didn't comment on the games during the action and I waited until other people chimed in after the conclusion. I'm more interested in enjoying this last year of following high school sports without being dragged into petty squabbles. That's why I don't @ you after your games because I don't have time. I'm sorry we're not playing this year. It would have been a good win for us. We're just going to have to settle for district wins. Good luck Coldspring-Oakhurst High School. I hope you get to finish the job in San Antonio this year. -
Livingston 59 Onalaska 55/FINAL
Lions Pride 2021 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
On to Hamshire-Fannett for first game of district. Onalaska made some shots after they fell behind by 15 in the third quarter. They gave it their all and it showed in the score. When Livingston wants to play defense, it's practically an iron curtain, and they did that at the end of the second quarter and halfway through the third. Better play defense on Friday or its not going to pretty. Good luck Onalaska! -
Vidor 39 Barbers Hill 50/FINAL

Your district is interesting. Looks like everyone has a shot at making the playoffs and would be worthy of the spot, even fourth place. -
Lumberton at LC-M.... Thoughts?
Lions Pride 2021 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Lumberton ain't winning by double digits in The Grove (still feels weird saying that). LCM keeps this close, 2-3 points max. -
Huffman vs HJ Tuesday
Lions Pride 2021 replied to Roy Orbison's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Ought to be fun. Hargrave by 5 just because they're home. HJ wins the rematch in Sour Lake. -
New Caney at Livingston/Post updates here!
Lions Pride 2021 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Game was cancelled. Livingston Traveled to Porter and beat the Spartans 51-42. Up next are the Onalaska Wildcats Tuesday in Livingston. First home game of the year. -
This is dumb. The only reason to leave the Southland is if they are going to play up in FBC. To move to another FCS conference, let alone one that's so far flung out, is going to waste money on a department that already depends on student fees to keep it afloat. This stinks of the last time Lamar left the Southland, last time it was to become a big time basketball school. I'm glad that Lamar is thinking about it's future. I wish it would do more academically like open a law school or a medical school like Sam Houston state is doing. But let's not go to the WAC. Call up Conference USA. Better still, call up the Sunbelt and remind them you are a founding member. The travel is a lot better, these conferences already have television packages and names people are vaguely familiar with.

Coldspring Bball cancelled
Lions Pride 2021 replied to TrojanMoJo's topic in High School Boys Basketball
This stinks. I would think they could make up the game on a Saturday or the next day after district play is over if it has bearing on the standings. Stay safe and mask up. -
Aldine Nimitz 68, Livingston 46
Lions Pride 2021 replied to Lions Pride 2021's topic in High School Boys Basketball
I agree. No. 2 and 21 were awesome. We kept them honest and by the middle of the third, the game wasn't so fast for the Lions. It was a big step up in weight class. No offense to the well coached teams we played so far, 6A is a different animal. I think we got more out of this loss than we would have gained playing an undersized Kountze. Hopefully our friends in Hardin County get well soon. -
Livingston traveled south to play the Nimitz Cougars. A good learning experience. Thanks for the game Nimitz. Good luck the rest of the way. On to Porter.

Coldspring-Oakhurst 64 Orangefield 62/FINAL
Lions Pride 2021 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Gosh. How many ways you want me to say it? I called CSO out by it's full name and included the address. When I was a kid, being called by your full name was a sign stuff just got serious. I'm writing in English, the common language of the land, so maybe you need to work on comprehension. Just a suggestion. -

Lions Pride 2021 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Sunday is a day of peace and reflection. I'm on record saying Livingston is beating the Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans. For those who couldn't infer that from my last post, I am clearly stating Livingston will win in its visit to San Jacinto County's seat of government. -

This is sad to hear. Hope it gets better down south. -
Livingston made the trip west on US 190 and beat the Madisonville Mustangs 64-56. Good luck Mustangs on the rest of your season. Livingston won the dunk count 1-0, in case anyone keeps up with that kinda thing.

Livingston 60 Leggett 44/FINAL
Lions Pride 2021 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Y'all don't read. Leggett basically played the Frosh/JV team because the starters were playing football. Beating Leggett is nothing to be proud of if you're a 4A school. You're supposed to beat a super small school. Even when you're shorthanded, like Livingston was. Livingston's student body,(or any big 4A school, for that matter) is probably at least 20 times bigger. The very reason we have classes is so schools like Leggett can play against a level field. And they do a marvelous job in 1A. Being happy about that win would be like LSU fans rushing the field after pounding McNeese or Texas pulling up goal posts after hammering Lamar by 50. I might have been the only one on the Livingston side at Trinity that wasn't whopping and hollering during the blowout because Livingston was supposed to win that game and win big. But again, I ain't from here, and I expect a little more. Being good enough to beat Polk County schools ain't good enough to win in district. -
Hardin-Jefferson 29 Nederland 44/FINAL
Lions Pride 2021 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Ain't no shame in losing to Nederland and Brian English. That guy is a heck of a coach. -
Livingston 60 Leggett 44/FINAL
Lions Pride 2021 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
As a Livingston parent, that game does nothing to prepare the Lions for district, which at the end of the day is all I care about. Sure, you can find exceptions to the rule, but for the most part, 4A teams shouldn't be scheduling 1A schools. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. Get out your feelings. -
Livingston 60 Leggett 44/FINAL
Lions Pride 2021 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
We're beating Coldspring. Lufkin will be tricky but is winnable. Im glad New Caney and Porter are on the schedule. Shepherd will lose both games to Livingston. Probably badly. They ain't want nothing in football and they definitely don't want none in basketball. Livingston is doing no worse than second in district, depending on tie breakers. Again, 4 out of 5 starters and a few key bench players were playing football. If those guys were there, it would have looked like the game in Trinity. No way a 4A school should be scheduling a UIL 1A school for a game unless Kendrick Perkins or Stephen Jackson is suiting up for them. Leggett is awesome for 1A, but only one kid on their team would be starting for an average 4A team. I don't say this to be mean; I only think 2 -3 of our kids could start on a good 5A team and maybe just one on a 6A team. Level of competition is just higher. I hated these types of games when I was a student, when I was a sports reporter and I hate it as a parent/spectator. I've gone as far to say I hated that West Brook was forced to play Central and Ozen in football because it wasted games the Bruins could have used to get ready for district. I'm not from the area, so I don't care that the other polk county schools want to play Livingston. They're too small and those schools should probably be absorbed into Livingston. it would give those children better facilities, more class options and better opportunities. -
Livingston 88 Trinity 33/FINAL
Lions Pride 2021 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
88-33 Livingston. Lions pulled starters with 6 minutes left in Q4. Trinity played last four minutes with just four players due to foul trouble. Livingston plays at Onalaska Tuesday.
