  1. Four of the the five starters were playing football. It was basically JV/Frosh Livingston. Its a no win situation. If you don't win by enough, you're not good and it generates dumb comments. If you blow them out, then why are you playing them? Trinity, Leggett, Onalaska and Goodrich shouldn't be on this team's schedule.
  2. I hate Livingston's schedule. There is absolutely no reason for this game to be played. Good game by Leggett.
  3. it was a great season. As a long time follower, if you told me before the season started they'd fall short in bi-district I would have taken it every day of the week and twice on Sunday. They grew a lot, I didn't think they would get this far when the year started. Hopefully this is is the beginning of many good things. My time obsessing over HS football is over. It's been a pleasure. On to basketball and then graduation!
  4. I know people in both towns so I'm staying away from this one. I'm predicting a good, close game.
  5. you will have to buy them online from the New Caney ISD Website. I think the sale starts tomorrow. That goes for all games at Randall Reed.
  6. Livingston fan here. I've stated ad nauseum that Jasper is probably better due to the size of the offensive and defensive lines. But Jasper isn't head and shoulders better and I'd give the Lions a good shot of beating the Dawgs. As far as this game, Livingston should win. And they should win next week too. I think the end of the road is a match with Lindale, which could be a shootout. I think the district of Doom is a little overated outside of Lindale and Kilgore. No one played defense. It was a track meet every Friday. Huffman can definitely beat Palestine. Livingston's ill advised fake punt in the back of its end zone was the end of that game.
  7. They have people that can catch the ball. Livingston was very lucky no one knows how to catch in 10-4A-I
  8. Lufkin TV has called it the district of Doom all year. They're good, but I think they can be had. I expect Livingston and Hargrave to win. It may be close, but a win is a win. And if Vidor limits turnovers, things could get interesting. Friday was the first time in a long time that Vidor looked like Vidor. That Vidor is a dangerous team.
  9. Carthage has a nice stadium. Been there a few times over the years and is a great setting. Lindale is high flying. Anything you can do to shorten the game will help. That means run the ball and don't snap it until there's a few seconds on the play clock. And by all means, don't over pursue on defense. Do this and y'all can make it a game.
  10. Vannover has done a tremendous job of turning this thing around in 3 years. It was a complete teardown and rebuild.
  11. Tyler Chapel Hill vs Livingston Saturday 6 pm Randell Reed Stadium New Caney
  12. IDK. The rate that they're opening schools in Houston, Dallas and Austin, the bar for what's a 4/5/6 school jumps by a a few hundred every two years. Lumberton may just eke it out and stay down here. If they do move up, that's Cleveland all over again. I expect to see Nederland and PNG in Big 4A in a few years and West Brook in 5A, not because they shrunk, but because everywhere but the Golden Triangle is growing like wildfire. It wouldn't surprise me if the cutoff line is 875 between the 4As next go round and 1400 for 4/5A.
  13. Will next year be the last in Big 4A? Sounds like the school is really small. Competition won't be easier but at least the travel will be better. Good luck with basketball.
  14. Congrats to Vidor. Good luck next week against Lindale. All it takes is one win to make your season. Hopefully y'all figured things out tonight.
  15. Damn, LCM. Hopefully the young guys got to learn and will be better next year.
  16. From worst to first. District champs. Hats off to Hargrave. It's easy to see why they were the champs. On to Tyler Chapel Hill.
  17. That's why we play. We'll see. Take care.
  18. 20-14. Livingston. It's going to be a close game. Hargrave loses its first district game since 2018 and plays Palestine next week in Madisonville. BTW, this is ABC 13's game of the week. You can watch the Texan Live broadcast on the ABC13 app. Roku and Amazon have the app in their stores.
  19. That's why we play. Most of the team will be playing football for a few more weeks, so they will be rusty and not in ball shape. The Lions are the tallest, fastest team in district. They are a nightmare matchup. TABC has missed this badly.
  20. Palestine and 10-4A-I Runner up in Madisonville next Friday at 7.
  21. They got more run than Damien Ruiz, who is awesome and a great baseball player to boot. I expect next year's team to be better. They have some frosh and sophs contributing right now and they will be better with this year's run. I would expect them to be the district favorite and possibly gets some pre-season love. I'm just glad the seniors, my son included, got a chance to experience some winning football before they graduate. Y'all go out, put Lumberton out of its misery, and redeem your season.
  22. A true Golden Triangle legend, Billy Tubbs passed away tonight at 85 near Lake Texoma. The Lamar community will always remember his contributions to our school. He was a great Cardinal. RIP
  23. A true Golden Triangle legend, Billy Tubbs passed away tonight at 85 near Lake Texoma. The Lamar community will always remember his contributions to our school. RIP
  24. 21-4A is going to be a dogfight. No way Splendora is the fourth best team. Hargrave Livingston/HJ Hamshire-Fannett Shepherd Splendora Liberty I wouldn't be surprised to see HJ, Huff, and Liv all beat on each other and fighting for the top seed.
  25. Undefeated at home, first time since 1962 winning 7 games in a row. This will go down as one of the better Livingston Lions teams, especially considering no one outside that locker room thought they would compete. Hopefully this is the beginning of a long run of yearly success.
