CC looked liked a homerun hire from the start. If he and Bronson stay the course I think we will see Jasper at a consistent level that everyone expects of them. The offense has such a long ways to go still. Every pass looks like a hail mary. In time I know that will improve. The qb is the critical piece in this scheme. He has the wheels that we need and won this game with his feet for us, but the finesse and timing on the passing game takes years to hone. I would love to see more quick timing routes and action across the grain of play. We a couple very talented wrs if we can get the ball close to them.
Any good slingers at the lower levels on the way?
Good question. We haven't had a true dual threat guy in a while.

I hate to hear about what's going on down there. I really hope it's just a bump in the road and that WOS gets somewhere close to what Mustang fans expect very soon. That may sound a bit naive coming from an outsider that is long gone from the area, but I love the rivalry as much as the one we have with Silsbee. We've seen the downfall of teams like LaMarque, Willowridge, etc. and it would be sad to see you guys heading down that road. If Hickman isn't the guy, who truly is?
Now, Jasper fans have gone through this more than once and it looks like we finally found the guy that can bring us the same sustained success (or better) that we had a few decades back. Crumedy has that "it" factor and seems to have changed the culture from the minute he took the job. The Bulldogs seem to be getting better quickly, too.

Jasper just beat WOS 34-14. The Silsbee game will be for the district title.
-
I'm glad we took care of business, but it's more fun to win when the Mustangs are at full strength. The Silsbee game will loom large...
-
West Orange is just letting the clock run out. Jasper just scored again. 34-14.

I miss the old Willowridge juggernaut.

a treasure to have! the Alamo was packed to capacity!
Fun to see this again. It was a shame that someone had to lose that game.

Sadly, the days of 3-0 games are long gone.
I miss them.
Agreed. That was the most physical football game I've ever seen. Most of the games we played against WOS and Silsbee were like that during that mid-80s to early-90's era. It was fun...

I am not going to make a prediction (until my pickems) but I would like it if WO-S won 26-21 to make things very interesting.
I agree, but the Silsbee/Jasper game for the district title would be even bigger if the Bulldogs win this game.

This list tells me something different, honestly. Seems like defense is harder to coach than it has ever been on every level.
The best high school defenses seem to be willing to use their best athletes. West Orange has historically done that and so has Newton. That's why they win 75-80% of the time.
Offense sells tickets, but defense wins.

I'll never understand why anyone in an authoritative position would ever compromise a career over something like this. We know it happens all the time and usually doesn't end well for anyone, The people doing it know that, too.
-
I know that Jasper fans that love the rivalry hate to see this, too. We haven't beaten WOS as much as we'd like to and who knows what will happen next week, but we always want them playing us at their best. It sucks.

BC does have home field advantage.
😉
That's why I think they'll score. 😁

Whoever does the DCTF point spreads has us as a 17-point favorite. I don't see it being that close at all, but stranger things have happened. Jasper 40, BC 6.

I completely agree.
I'm still sticking with Jasper in this one.
I honestly can't get a good read on this game, but we need to win and look good doing it.

What the haters, the I want you to win but hope you lose people, or folks who just don't know.
The seniors on this team have ran a different offense every year of their highschool career. This one being nothing close to the other ones. Yes, it's shaky at times but the DAWGS have proven that skill set and talent is there to be explosive(Palestine and Franklin games are proof) C C (Coach Crumedy) has openly said that if it gets to where he just don't think the players can handle it , he will change to something they can. The current seventh grade class is his to implant a program that is practiced and improved thru repetition, developing kids skillsets all the while putting kids in the right positions to play that best suites them and the team. Look at the sustained success at schools like Liberty Hill and Carthage. Completely opposite offensive schemes but proof that if you perfect your craft it works.
C C said (and I may be off 1 or two( +/-) on the exact #) but I gonna say our Jr high participation numbers between 7th and 8 th grade was 67 players(wow). "Scary good" he described the upcoming classes as.
That's very encouraging.

Jasper was more depleted than we realized. I hope the community can support the team and give the coaches a couple of years to rebuild the program. DC is out of the picture this year. But I think we have enough to be in the hunt for a playoff spot if we can win. It will be a tough game.
I can see us being 3rd or even 4th with a much better team come playoff time and maybe winning a playoff game. It would be unreasonable at this point to expect more than that.

Big game here... Winner is still in the DC hunt... Loser not so much.
Agreed. Silsbee's a juggernaut right now, so it's gonna be hard to take them down.

We love the guy. He wasn't gonna fix the offense overnight. My concern is that the defense hasn't been as good as we need it to be to beat good teams. I think we'll get better as the season progresses.

The past really doesn't matter in situations like this. We've got to be a lot better than we have been lately to win this game.

The fun of pre district is over. Time to take care of business.
The Panthers are 0-4 but have lost by a combined 32 points. Proof that have not been pushovers and I don't expect them to be this game. Those young men have always give it their all.
I think the DAWGS can get a win. Especially, if the aerial attack gets in its groove(yes I said aerial attack ). The OC Coach Crumedy brought in(which to be honest I had assumed Coach Crumedy was gonna run the offense) Beau Burleson a fairly young guy some of you may recall his recent Westbrook stint has got the DAWGS spreading the field this season.
I will be missing this one( been a long time since that's happened) but the wife and I are going to see Katt Williams at NRG ARENA. can't wait!
GO DAWGS!!
That dude's funny. Gotta come out of the locker room ready to play. Can't give Liberty any reason to think they can beat us.

I've never met Coach Danaher, but I've also never heard anything remotely bad about him. Praying for him and those that will struggle through this by his side.
-
Yep. They had to do something. NU is one of the worst defenses in the country. I don't know that it will matter much, but they just need to be aggressive and run to the ball. Chinander had improved that defense every year, so it's not like he forgot how to coach. The effort just hasn't been there on the field.

I know the Hawks are way down this year and it's hard for me as a Bulldog to get up for this one, especially after the big win on Friday night. I know Coach Crumedy will get the kids ready to play and fine tune some stuff for the Tigers next week and beyond. Jasper 42, HJ 7.
