Without conditioning as a part of their work out, y’all are in trouble 

I've never heard of anything like this. If you want to have a winning program the coaches have to work harder and make sure your team is in the best condition it can be in not only for production sake but for safety sake also.  You are right these are 14 to 18 year olds and unless they have a unique group of senior leaders there is no way this is an improvement in conditioning.  Kids will be lazy and need to be pushed by coaches. I hope I'm wrong but I don't see how this can be an improvement in the safety of these kids.  They need to be supervised while lifting and if they are not in as good condition as their opponents their is a safety risk.

Anyone who hasn't experienced MCM could never understand what it means to the people of Mid County. If this isn't the greatest rivalry in the state I would really like to spend a couple weeks where a better rivalry exists.  I am an extremely biased Newton fan but I lived in Mid County for 14 years and love the people and and how they support their kids.  This is so much more than just a football game.  Some of these boys have been dreaming about playing in this game since they were 6 or 7 years old and it's finally here.  After the game they'll be talking about it for the rest of their lives.  Whoever wins it's probably the biggest moment in their young lives so far.  I hope each one plays their heart out and makes memories they'll be proud of for the rest of their lives. Hope everyone stays safe and plays hard.  Good luck guys !

Sorry to interrupt but HOW  BOUT THEM ASTROS!!! WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!!!

Well, they did have to pull away in the second half.  Newton NEVER had that problem to date.  That's my point.  That's why I said what I said about Newton needing to be over WO-S.  

Let's put it this way, all three are tied for first.
WOS = back-to-back state champs
Newton = because we're awesome
PNG = because they have the same colors as Newton
 

Like I said the guy is trying... It's an opinion poll. hard to do that and have folks happy...

Again, Newton should be higher. They've destroyed, literally DESTROYED the competition averaging the highest differential of points out of all teams in SETX.  They also lead in Yards per game.  
WO-S is undefeated, yes, but had struggled with H-J and Silsbee and had to pull away late from Liberty to win that one.  
 
Where is Evadale?  Smh
 
West Brook just mowed down. Very good Oak Ridge team where the QB, Elia just threw for almost 400 yards and ran for almost 200 yards and three for 7 TD's and ran for 2.  (9 total TD's if our addition is correct.  WB should. Be higher.

I am not a critic nor an expert on anything.  But I would hope that after watching high school football since 1958 and playing from 7th through the 12th grade, I learned a little bit about it.  The news story about HF has nothing to do with coaches getting their players into condition to play football.  And yes if K'ville were 6-0 we wouldn't be having this conversation.  But they're not so we are. 
Conditioning is the most important aspect of having a winning program.  Ask any winning coach.  The winning programs are also the ones who lift during the season (with supervision) and have facilities open all year round for kids to train.  They are also the ones who run their kids.  The better shape they are in the less likely they are to get hurt.  Maybe I'm too old and set in my ways and I sure might be wrong, but with all the distractions kids have today I don't see a team who is responsible for their own conditioning competing very well against teams whose coaches are responsible for his teams conditioning.  I would like to know what benefits they expect to receive by doing this and whose idea it was because I just don't understand.

The "N" on my helmet is the problem. We are going to hit 24 years in a row this year. 5 in a row seems easy I guess. Congrats on the success PNG!

Our kid's lift 4 days a week during all season's . Sure has made a difference in our kids strength and conditioning.       Ask, Buna they played with us for a half and we wore them out and scored at will with back ups in the game. If kids don't have a choice and nobody to complain to they will fall in line ! It's amazing what leadership can do for a program .

To you guys who support this new theory of coaching and conditioning please give some reasons why you support it and why you think it will be successful.  I really just want to understand what I'm missing.  I'm not the smartest bale in the barn and I just need some help understanding.  Thanks ahead of time for helping me.

Hey Backer, If Newton sucks what does that say about Bridge City getting their ass stomped by a school 1/3 there size.  You are the one who said Newton had problems playing larger schools because of our smaller numbers.  Seems to me Bridge City has problems playing us because of our smaller numbers. You sir are a horrible sportsman.

My .02 cents worth - based on pound for pound, it's about as good as you could made a poll.  Heaven knows come 4 games in the playoffs, 9 out of 10 of us would only pick Newton and WOS.  As good as WB, PNG, and PAM are, I doubt any of them go as deep as the Stangs & Eagles.

These second and third stringers are getting valuable experience for this year and next year. They have to play to get better. Newton has a lot of sophomores on the varsity and Newton only has a JV team, no soph. or freshman team, so most of the JV kids are moved up to the varsity and the remaining  JV kids are  mostly 9th graders. This is there playing time. If your varsity cannot play against our moved up JV kids then the problem lies with Crockett not Newton.
 

How much time does a coach spend in practice trying not to be good? How much time does he spend trying not to score? Coach Johnston has NEVER run up the score on anyone. This was one of those games where special teams and defensive scores made it worse than usual.  When you pull your starters midway through the second quarter you've done enough.  The second teamers have worked just as hard as the starters and deserve to show what they can do.  They should not be punished because they are better than the other teams starters.

Power and speed.  Smart players with extreme skill sets.
I will travel to watch them when the time comes. 
Never slow down or show weakness, its how everyone else catches up then sends you home.

At least Crockett isn't scared to play Newton

Please, please one game at a time.  We don't need these kids looking any farther than  the next game. We've had great teams come up short too many times
