Lions running the Slot-T exclusively or do they have some spread O mixed in?
0 passing yards on only 1 attempt according to the stats for Livingston.  I guess if you are getting 7+ yards a carry you don't need a passing game.  It will be interesting to see if any defense in the district can slow their running game down.
The score doesn't tell the true story. By not going to their passing offense was only respect for this PNG team. They had to stay with their old stuff, because this team was dangerous. They will use their passing, when they do, it will be saying it's practice time for the playoffs. They can pass pretty decent, but it's still a working project for the playoffs. Any team they don't fear, they will come out passing. This PNG team is not a team you can play around with. :) :) :) :) :) :)
There was no reason for Livingston to pass. This year is not a typical defense for PNG. We have a good pass defense  and a run defense still making adjustments and struggling some . Last night , you have to give credit to Livingston's very good running game also. Livingston's coach did what I would have done . With that being said we are ahead of where we were last year at this time , and still managed to play longer than most of the teams that beat us early. This is a different district this year and every week will be a major battle for every team. I don't feel there are any gimme's for any team.

That dumb, "Who are we?  PNG!" chant...  (Before people start hating, let me say this...  I know PNG fans that hate that annoying chant also)

When teams or players repeat mistakes, over and over....

Parents that don't make their children behave at the game.

*****Especially this one***** People that yell out for biased calls and penalties, that don't make sense, or sometimes, don't even exist!
I'm in agreement with you on the biased calls. Some people think every flag thrown against their team is a bad call. I have some that sit around me that get mad on every penalty called against us.

Teams that copy others traditions. I don't care for the "who are we chant" myself , don't recall that being an original PNG tradition. Another tradition copied by many was the ball bearings in the propane tanks. It was awesome for Stephenville , but annoys me when others copy it.

I do think BH is going to contend in district this year. It's going to be wild between Dayton, BH, and Crosby. 19-4A might go 3-1 in the first round this year. Props for BH, and I think the Hill is for real this year!
WOW respect from an ndn?
Yes . Dayton , Barbers Hill , and Crosby all have very good teams.

No differant than any other year,,,,nederland runs away with this one,,,as usual vidor fans are pumped up by their 3 and 0 start but come on bridge city and kirbyville,,,,
    Nederland 28
    Vidor 7
Yes BC and Kirbyville are two quality programs. You guys hollin WOS this and that.....didn't Kirbyville beat WOS last year? They have talent and speed, but haven't done anything since dropping down to 3a. If Kirbyville had a little more depth and was scheduled to play Nederland i believe they would embarrass you guys.
If..... ::)

This will be a great game, too close to call .

    PNG EXPLODED in 2nd half....DEFENSE stepped up Big Time!  1:52 left..PNG 41  TC 27
T.C. had some players playing both ways. That was the difference in the second half , you could se T.C. 's defense slow down. Their # 20 (Lynch) never slowed down. He is a burner.

We have some things to work on still , but we are about where were last year at this time and ended up playing three playoff games .

Hey GoDogs27, we hadn't beaten ya'll in football ever until 1976. Now, you are a rival and we beat you on a regular basis, like last year. Jeff wouldn't spend so much time on the field if you weren't playing with 13 players including the ones in black and white stripes like in 2009. Sorry, your first TD was 10 yards out of the end zone. And, since we play in Bulldog Stadium this year, we'll probably be there until 1:00 a.m. again. Looking forward to a great game. Go Pirates!!!
Anyone(WOS grad) have the all time record for Vidor Vs. Nederland? Maybe just the past 20 years? I wonder if PNG saw us as a rival while they beat us 19 years in a row (from 1965-1984, I think?)...
Not trying to thread jack but since you asked I believe most at PNG that went school when I did during that 19 years will say that Nederland was always a rival. But it wasn't as intense as it got from mid 80's on after it got more competitive.During the 70's and early 80's TJ was a little more intense rivalry. Although, I will say I don't believe the PNG/TJ rivalry at it's peak was as good as the PNG/ Nederland has become.

Back on topic , I thought Vidor's rivalry was Lumberton. Vidor has also built a pretty good rivalry with Central , and I would say that is a respectful rivalry. Lots of class shown from Vidor and Central. Nothing like marathon overtime games and then seeing the two teams meet and pray together after the game.

I dont understand PNG Defensive philosify. First we never Blitz, we dont even get in a Goaline Defense when our opponent has the ball inside the 10 yardline about to score. Its plain old sit back and let the other team run the ball down your throat Defense. Our DC needs to be more aggressive take some chances and get our Defense off the field quicker in the up coming games. And can anyone explain why we didnt go for the 2 pt conversion when the score was 28 to 23 ?

Maybe your username should be "half indian/coach" since you know so much about what the PNG coaches should be doing. They're the ones that watch film, game plan, practice with the kids, etc. Let them do their job and shut your mouth.
AMEN!!!! They haven't let us down yet since they got here. Wouldn't trade them for any others.

Not sold on the tribe this season yet. I feel like they shouldve taken Crosby to the woodshed. Didn't see either of the first two games but listened to some of both, and not sure what happened in the second half last week but that was lots of scoring. I know the NDNs can put up some points, but have they played a 7 or 8 win opponent yet? My bet would be no. I am gonna go with Texas City by 6...

    TC - 27
    PNG - 21

Year in and year out Gregory Portland is a playoff team. This year they are weak , very weak. As far as Crosby , nobody on this site was giving them much of a chance. But after the game, the PNG posters on this site wanted to give credit where credit is due. I believe Crosby will make the playoffs this year just as they do most of the time. You may not believe they are any good , I didn't last year and they knocked Nederland out of the playoffs and played two more weeks. But only time will tell.
They didn't play 2 more weeks after beating Nederland.  They lost to Montgomery the very next round.
You're correct . It was the year before that when they beat Nederland in the playoffs then beat Montgomary before losing to Pearland Dawson. They only played one game after beating Nederland last year and two the year before.

The best thing that could happen for Barbers Hill would be to meet PNG in the playoffs. After we win we can put aside this talk of which district is best. Having said that to stir the ndn blood, I believe 204A has mo betta teams than 194A but our top 3 look pretty good so far. The Nederland game will tell all of us a lot.
Gonna take more than that to stir this NDN. I do agree about the top 3 in 19-4A being tough , much tougher than past years. Top to bottom 20-4A is better in my opinion as well. I am looking forward to the Nederland/ BH game as well. Like I said in another post I believe it will be the game to be at this week.

  14. We need to improve on the defense . I still think the defense looks better than it did at this point last year , so I'm still confident we will be ok. It just may take a little while to iron it out. Hopefully quicker than last year (about 3 games into district). In our district this year , three weeks into district will be too late. I'm not sure what TC has this year so i'm not making a prediction . Hopefully we will see improvement. Looking forward to the first home game. Scalp em!!!
