1. 5 does, 1 6pt, 1 nubbin, and 2 coons this evening.  Great hunt!
 2. Went hunting this afternoon with my oldest son.  Had 1 doe, 2 6pts, 1 8pt.  LOL real hard to tell him " hold on now" when he saw those bucks.  Had a great hunt.  (None of the bucks were shooters)
 3. Not exactly sure on his first year but he was at West Sabine before Kirbyville. And yes, he has done a great job.  Good guy as well.
 4. Better yet... Smitty could go into the fieldhouse and demand the chalk.. I"m sure the coaches would love to see him draw them up something on the board.
 5. The service for Coach Barbay last night was absolutely beautiful, stunning, and very fitting for a man that touched so many lives.
 6.
Cant take anything away from Vidor they played a good game.  I completely respect our coaches but come on even I could see that they call plays that didn't work the first 4 times we ran them and then do not call a play again that did work.  The boys aren't perfect but they are working their butts off.  They made some mistakes of course but they cant change the coaches crazy calls.  They get out there and do their best with a heavy heart knowing that the coaches sometimes loose their mind and call ridiculas plays.  Frustration and pressure are getting to them.  Its hard to tune out all the critisim.
What plays would you have called?  Maybe if you'd go to your coaches fieldhouse and ask to get on the whiteboard they'd let you.

 8. He was a true man in a world where we desperately need good men.  He will be sorely missed.  I sincerely feel for his family and his extended family... the players and fellow coaches.  He touched so many lives in his time on and off the field.   I had the pleasure of working for Daryl Barbay and he is a great one as well.  My heart hurts for you man.   Rest in Peace COACH.
 9. The coaches pour their hearts out, they put everything on the line, they hold nothing back... family takes a back seat, entertainment takes a back seat, FOOTBALL IS THEIR LIFE during the season... They are totally committed to the cause 100% and they sell out everything they have.  They schedule a true Texas powerhouse and play them down to the wire... Two OT's!...  No they didn't get the win but have much to be proud about.  The players have much to be proud about.......  Keep your heads up guys you represented SE Texas well! The backseat armchair "guru" coaches need to find another hobby!
 10.
Make me shut up mouth! You don't know what constructive criticism is. All you do is sit behind your computer and criticize everything the coaches and players do. Your a wanna be coach that didn't have the guts to get into the profession, so you sit back and try to act like you know what your talking about and you really have no clue!
Amen ... I just applauded you.
 11. Its an ok magazine.  I usually buy it though.  Good entertainment. I have seen him several times at the THSCA convention in the summers signing free magazines.  He's still connected somewhat.
 12. Congrats. Great times that he'll never forget.
 13. 40k-46k???????????? They sure aren't trying very hard with that amount.
 14. The reason most do not want to consolidate is that the community loses their identity, sense of school pride, and the big school simply ends up eating the smaller school.  There is very rarely a true consolidation.  Usually its the little school that loses their mascot, school name etc..  not the bigger school.
 15.
Because it is a school holiday. You have no leg to stand on.
A coach can sit a player any time he/she wants to.  He has full authority to play whomever he wants.
 16.

I won't believe we have any around here until (1) reliable pic on game camera or(2) someone shoots one and brings it in.  Too many hunters with game cams not to have lots of pics if they were around.  JMO
I'm with you. Between game cams and every device on the market today with cameras built in, why haven't we seen the pics? They might very well be out there..... but they seem to be as elusive as Big Foot.
I'm with both of you.  I hear all the time about people seeing them on deer stands, as they walk to their stand, crossing the road, blah blah blah.. yet nobody has shot one, taken a pic, or had a pic taken by a game camera.  I believe that its wishful thinking on the part of some.  Vivid imaginations.  I've seen some pretty large cat prints and wondered myself... until I saw one of my buddies stuffed bobcats and just how big their feet are.
 17.

Well you bunch of BH whiners, it looks like you got your wish... the ax is starting to fall on the coaches you guys just love to hate. Some are leaving on their own (handwriting on the wall) while others who are doing a fine job are being fired. I would like to thank all of the coaches for their service, whether they leave on their own or by force. There are a lot of people who appreciate the profession and know the time and effort that go into it. Thank you Coaches Price, Byrd, Nunez, Parsons, Riley for the time you gentlemen have spent coaching and mentoring our youth. (Forgive me if I leave anyone out). I know others are being reassigned so not all will be leaving much to the disappointment of the brilliant minds that seem to frequent the BH threads on SETXSPORTS these days. And I feel for the girls and boys BB coaches, because the ruling elite in BH will not tolerate losing while their children are on the team. That just will not do! Make no mistake, this has nothing to do with Coach Gage, this comes from "The Furor" and his seven member SS panel. I could go on and on about why this is wrong, take for instance the treatment of the girls BB coach during the season and the recent disrespect for his family and home after the recent playoff loss. Disgusting. Maybe you people of the "NEW BH" as one of you recently posted can explain why coach Parsons is being ask to leave without explanation. I have heard nothing but praise for the results he has gotten out of the kids he has worked with.. girls and boys. Like I said I could go on, but what would be the point. Coach Gage, you will have my full support, because you are coaching the children of BH. Just be careful, you are coaching and overseeing some all-americans here, if you don't believe me .. just ask their parents. Stick to your guns and run it like YOU want to. Well... back to grading those papers!
Don't know who you are but you nailed right on. You have some reliable sources. BH needs to watch out because if they don't handle this the right way of firing people they will be handing out more payoff money or getting sued for wrongful termination of employment. Can't fire people for no reason.
In the state of Texas you can fire people for no reason.
Not in the Education system.  You'll get yourself in a jam real quick!  Unless you are on a probationary contract which most are not.  Here's how it usually goes...  Brand spanking new teachers right out of college get a probationary contract for years 1 and 2.  District policy can go probationary for year 3 if needed and by law may even go prob for yr 4 ( usually doesn't happen though).  After probationary term ends teachers are given a term contract which affords the teacher many more rights as far as employment goes. Districts can opt to give whatever length of term they choose but most opt to give 1yr or 2 yr terms.  Either way your contract will get renewed unless the district can show cause , true cause for non-renewal.  Remember, in Texas  most coaches other than the AD are teacher's first.  Now all that being said.... moving someone from varsity football to 7th grade girls volleyball would send them a pretty strong message that uh you might want to move down the road.  I don't have a clue what is going on in BH  but wish you guys and Coach Gage all the luck as well as Coach Price in his future endeavors.  Usually most A'D's have a couple of guys that they trust and have worked with that they would like to bring with them.  All coaches know this and its not uncommon.  But AD's are people too and usually know that there are good men and women on the old staff and some of them they will keep.  Its usually not about skill but about trust and teamwork.  Just like when a new sheriff gets elected he would like to bring in a new Chief Deputy and maybe a different investigator.
 18.
Your grandmother should apply for the coaching job then.   ::)
LOL thats right.
 19.
Most honest hunters will comply with the new rule. But you still have alot of out law hunters out there. A lot of deer still get killed at night. Game wardens need to spend more time out in the woods at night, and get tougher on the outlaw hunters.
I agree.  I know of one guy that got stroked to the tune of $1600.00.  This dummy asked the game wardens who had came out to our lease on the Monday after opening day if they were giving leeway for bucks that were close.  They said that they were this first year.  But they wanted to see the deer.  LOL he showed them the buck and it wasn't even tagged!  Well that got them curious and they then found a deer in an icechest about 100 feet from his camper in the woods. No tag for it either.  It was a doe that he hadn't tagged.  He paid for those two deer!  He will no longer be on our lease.
 20.
OMG what a deer.
Thats 2 different bucks (both very nice).  Look at the brow tines.  In one of the pics the right one leans out and in the other pic the right one leans inward.
 21.
Maybe if kirbyville played 2 in jasper and 1 in kville.  It was not a good experence this year in kville way to long of a wait to get in and the concession stand and yall could use a few more seats on the vistitor side.  I will miss watching kville play at least once a year but It is always better playing above your classification than down.
????????????  How so?  You can go down or up and  get your hiney's kicked or kick theirs.
 22.
So they said basically what I did. Some herds are weak due to killing good genetic bucks at a young age, it is hard to come up with any standards on cull/age of bucks and the better genetics will win over time (if enough does are killed) (if we let the herd get more than one year old).
Like I said .. I've embraced the 13inch rule... If someone wants to get around it then its simple..  Take a hammer and knock the horns off.. I've already heard about people doing it.  I don't want one that bad.  With me and my two boys hunting I can get enough spikes and does to fill my freezer and I'm sure next year I'll see better bucks.  I already let 5 bucks walk this year because of the new restrictions.  didn't bother me a bit.. My little 8 year old wasn't happy about it though .LOL Part of the reason why I would shoot a 6pt or something would be that it was in December and I hadn't killed anything.  Knowing that the deer would get killed by the next hunter I would shoot him.  Now that won't happen.  One thing I do wish was that the state would open up doe season to the entire season.  I've gotten burned many times because I waited too late and then I guess the deer got the memo because no does came out after Thanksgiving evening.  I just hate to kill a doe on the first couple of weekends.
 23.

Well I disagree with you on that.  I've let many many small 8pt walk along with 4pts and 6pts through the years.  I've also taken 1.5 year old 6pts and ain't ashamed to admit it.  I'm a hunter not a trophy hunter.   I've been able to kill 8 bucks year for the last several years and could have yet usually take 2 bucks between me, my two boys, and my wife... all hunters. Still I'm embracing the 13 inch rule.. I got enough hunters in my family that there is no possible way I can't end up with 5-6 deer every year.  Now if they make the spikes illegal I'd be in a bind.
You say that you disagree and then say that you have taken 1.5 year old 6 points. That was exactly what I was saying. Passing some doesn't change that fact. I am all for legal hunting and what you were doing was legal. I am just glad that the state has now finally stepped in to manage the land as I think the hunters should have all along. Within a couple of years, the same deer that are being shot now at a 6 point will be heavier 8 pointers or better.
The point I was making was that I was not a "shoot anything that moves" hunter.  And as i said I'm giving the 13 inch rule time to work.
 24.

I honestly think .270 is best all around gun.
I like it too but will be going back to ole faithful next year.... My 30-06. BTW- My 8 yr old shot a buck yesterday evening 1-10-10... A big ole shaggy long horn spike.. Remember how I said that the 3 previous deer and hog that dropped by a 243 this year???  Well this buck was shot and ran like he was breaking out of prison.  Had to track him.. But it was shot placement.. He shot a little further back than he should have.. ALso the deer was slightly quartering towards us.. I had lost the blood trail but thankfully the green eyes on the deer were picked up by my very very small flashlight.  I lucked out.
Glad you found him.  Nothing sucks much worse than losing one.
Thats one of the worst feelings in the world.. About like when the Democrats win elections.. LOL  I feel as if I'm a very ethical hunter and I get totally knotted up knowing when I've left a deer out in the woods to rot.. And my little boys God bless their souls can stomp all over every trace, blood spot, and sign out there in their zeal to find it.. Truly a test of patience...  But they are learning..
