They are one legit starter away from being a World Series contender. Maybe a trade deadline pickup can put them over the top.

I'm hoping they can make a play for Gerritt Cole from the Pirates or Chris Archer from the Rays. They do need help in the rotation because Fiers and Musgrove have been very inconsistent and I don't trust McHugh to come in and be lights out after he gets off the DL.

I know it is early in the 2017 season, but the Astros could have something special.  Barring injury, and Lord forbid our early season high hopes jinx the team, but the Astros could be a strong contender for the AL crown and a legitimate threat to win the World Series.  I know, it's April.  Slow down 1989NDN.

It's early, but so far the Astros have average to above average starting pitching, a strong bullpen (middle relief and closing), and the pieces of the puzzle on offense are starting to gel.  One through nine in the batting order can get hot and swing the stick.  And, who doesn't love Jose Altuve?  He is 5'5" of dynamite.  My favorite Astros player for the past three seasons.  He is what young kids should strive to be as they grow up playing baseball.  Hey kid, you're too small, you're to slow, blah...blah...blah...you can't do it at 5' 5"...you can't do this...you can't do that....  Yet, Altuve can do it all.  Love his tenacity and grit at the plate.  He can fight off the inside heat, he can fight off the curve ball and slider, and he can wait for his pitch to hit.  Great player.

NO INJURIES in 2017.  Go Astros.  It could be a special season.

    Go Astros.  Peace.

Love this post and agree 100%. Great young core of talented players but also great young men and now we brought in some veterans to help lead the youngsters and show them what it takes to win at the highest level. As an Astros fan, I hope to not jinx them but I feel like we should enjoy the success. The past decade has been tough on our Astros and I'm glad that they have the team and staff they have now. I'm gonna enjoy the ride!

  3. Superior customer service and waffle fries, oh the horrible possibilities. Why can't the founder of a food chain have an opinion that differs from the stupidity that goes on at each and every college campus in America. Good luck finding a safe space in the real world, it's called being an adult and handling your problems face on and understanding there are other ways of thinking beyond your own. Now if people's constitutional rights are being attacked, there should be something done to the party that is doing the attacking, but I don't see any negative effects of a Chik Fil A being put anywhere on earth, it's great food!

  4. This is just my opinion, but I would love to see a time in the world where individuals hold themselves accountable for their own fortunes or failures. I believe racism is an issue that is constantly blown up by the media although there are still plenty of racists around. We as an American culture have grown a sense of unnecessary entitlement and like to point the finger and blame others instead of taking responsiblity. What happened to people of color in the past is terrible and a huge scar on the fabric of this nation, but sadly it is something that cannot be compensated for or changed, thats just an ugly fact of reality. With all of this being said, I personally believe the race issue is more of an entitlement issue. That is not specifically for one side or another, it is an equal statement. I feel blessed to have friends and coworkers of many different races and something I will never understand is how people base judgement on race and not character, integrity, actions, etc. In such a sensitive and politically correct world that is the 21st century, why can't we call someone of another race a lazy POS if they are truly a lazy POS? Once again, just some of my thoughts an opinions on a very sensitive subject, but I am glad these types of things are discussed by different types of people on here. I have learned more from listening to other people's points of view that are opposite or different than my own than I would have if I would've gone into the conversation with a closed mind or listening with the intent to respond rather than listening with the intent to learn and discuss a different point of view of a given subject.

What United did basically gave me another reason why I prefer to fly Southwest.

Couldn't agree more. I flew Southwest every week or 2 for the better part of 4 years and they aren't perfect, but I have nothing negative to say about them over that strech. Of course I was delayed on a few occasions, but that is to be expected with any airline. On the other hand, I've personally only flown United twice, but both times I had a negative experience and the guest services staff was absolutely horrible. As far as my money is concerned, I will choose Southwest or Delta.

Really don't think Smith has a clue. He has to have something on McNair to have stuck around around this long.  The Osweiler fiasco should have been enough for McNair to can him.

I agree. I will admit he has hit on his 1st round picks and found a few UFA gems but to have hardly any success from rounds 2-5 which I consider money rounds in building a championship franchise, and striking out on a huge deal that made the organization look absolutely stupid is crazy to me. I have been hoping he would get fired for some time now but he keeps getting extensions. I think you hit the nail on the head with him having something on McNair lol
