Buna played a strong, physical game again tonight.  Mixing in some smashmouth power running with Williams and the speedy, cutting style of Birch.  Clark to Frasier is becoming a great combo as well.  Outstanding performance tonight on both sides of the ball Coogs.  The defense just kept shutting down the Horns all night long.  HF looks the same as always, great looking athletes, lots of speed, but they are always missing something.  The QB had a great arm, Huff ran and played hard, and Malveaux is huge, but way too many dropped passes for a team running a spread offense.  Keep it going next week Buna with Hemphill.  GO COUGARS!!!

You hit the nail on the head I could not have summed up the game any better. I thought Anahuac would be the team to beat in 2A but after seeing the beat down that HF took, I would have to say that Buna would be my favorite. Buna looks to be good for next year too as they had quite a few JR's & Soph's on the team. All I can say about HF is that at some point in time they have to start improving as they can't continue to play week end and week out like they have the last couple of years. Buna has a great team and I am not taking anything away from them, but HF is better than the 56-21 beat down. Somebody please Duct Tape the ball too #2 hands so he can hold onto the football, as a Soph last year I some what understood but as a Junior he needs to step up and hold onto the ball.  I apologize on behalf of HF nation to all of the Buna fans who had to travel to see what has to be one of the worst performances I have seen HF put out in a while. Good Luck to both teams next week.

Different style of offense from Buna... Anahuac will be more speedy attack while Buna will have smash mouth run you over rushing attack
Anahuac does both and they can pass the ball pretty effectively. I am telling you the Panthers are the real deal, 2A better prepare for them, as they are going to make some noise.
I can just imagine if they had their stud running back healthy, they would really be awesome.
3. Anahuac was as good as advertised, big, strong & fast. I have to hand it to the Panther's they have a really good offense & defense. Hats off to HF, they  did a better job in the 2nd half and made a game out of it. This game could have easily been a blow out had they not played better in the 2nd half.  We had a few good drives that could have turned into points had we executed some plays better. All and all I think HF gave a good showing against a really good Anuahac squad. If the Panthers stay healthy and eligible they should be the favorites to win their distict. By the way I will take my "CROW" in a Gumbo.  Good Luck to both squads this week.

Good comment as the coach stated he does have things to work on to improve.BUT it is not a one man team and together as a team they will get better .We as fans need to improve ourselves to.
I absolutely agree, we need to get the fans back in the stands and fired up. My daughter is a HS Cheer Leader and I ride her case about the lack of school spirit HF has right now. Back in the day our Cheer Leaders set the tone for school spirit. It is time to fire this school up and get the students enthused about football again. Come on HF fans lets get behind these boys and show them the support they deserve.  Dang I am ready for Friday night and Saturday for that matter.

Yes, he did have a great game throwing the ball Friday night, also worth noting he runs the ball well. However I am concerned with how he carries the ball, kind a like a loaf of bread, he needs to correct that. Good Luck this Friday Night against the "WAC ATTACK"
He can carry it like a cheerleader for all I care. As long as a"W" goes on his belt.  ;D
I hear ya Dove, however you know them Ball Hawks are always looking for something to strip.  8)
6. All I can say is Anauhac better have some tall cover corner's or Malveaux & Carmon are going to eat'em up. All BS aside HF is a better team this year and should give "THE WAC ATTACK" a good game. I look forward to see how we match up with the speed of the Panther's as this will give us a good idea as to where we are as a team. Good luck to both squads I hope you have a fun and injury free game. I hated to hear about Anahuac's Running Back, I pray God Speed on his recovery.

7. I had to feel a little bit sorry for the Red Devils who had to travel all the way down here from Lufkin too get their butts kicked by HF & EC. JMHO, the Devils are in for a tough season. Don't get me wrong they had some good players and gave a good effort, of course it was just a scrimmage, anything can happen. EC looked sharp, their QB, FB & TB are quick and strong. I would like to have seen HF & EC go at it from the start as a game sitaution. I think it would have been an entertaining game as there were some big hits & big plays from both squads. Only the starting O's & D's got to play in this one. The scrimmage ended with EC scoring on the last play to make it a 1-1 tie. HF is a much improved team from last year, I think we will have a better season this year.
8. Based on what we have returning the LongHorns will be down, not much size nor speed for the Horns. All of the better athletes are going to play Fall Baseball or Soccer. Since HF's HS football program started struggling it has been hard to get the kids motivated to play. Our parents seem to be leaning towards having their kids play one sport year round. My kid likes all of the sports equally, IMHO I think it makes them a more rounded athlete. :-\
9. HF won this game 11-0. It was great performance by the lady Horns. HF has a very young and inexperienced team that is competeting in a 4A & 5A dominated sport. This team has 11 Fresh, 4 Soph & 4  SR's. This group of girls should make some noice in the next few years, that is of course if they stay together. Great game Lady Horms and Good Luck tonight against Nederland you are going to need it.
10. After looking at the capsule, if Carthage wins, this means that both of the Div I & Div II State Champs will be from the same district. I realize this is not the first time this has happened, however it is still uncommon. What's even more remarkable is that Henderson beat Chapel Hill to win State and Chapel Hill beat the mess out of Carthage earlier in the season. Then Carthage goes and beats Henderson to be District Champs. Just goes to show you, with the right talent and coaching any team can beat on any given day.
11. If HF comes out and plays the whole game like they did in the first half against Kelly, then the game will no be as lopsided as everyone thinks. I know Kelly is no WOS, I am just saying that HF came out with alot of Heart and intensity that first half and finally showed sparks of being a pretty good team. I will not talk about what happened the second half, let's just say it was a totally different team and coaching staff.
