  1. where are all the HF fans at ? lets here some comments.

HF fans realize this year is not our year, although next year might provide hope for the future. The HF coaches are trying to break in very inexperienced group of young men. These young men are competing against some very good teams. If you look at our schedule you can see that 7 out of the 10 teams we are set to play this year made it to the playoffs last year. Most of these clubs have several returning players from last years squad. So it goes without saying what the Horns are up against this year. I just hope they do not get discouraged with the trials and tribulations they will face this year as next year they could emerge as a pretty good team with a bright future. I think HF fans are embracing the fact that we will not have a good season this year but we will still show our support on Friday Nights as this team prepares for next year. With that being said once again if HF can cut down on the mistakes this game could go either way if not it will be Huffmans to lose.

  2. Brick now i see why your IQ is only 35.  First of all, Hallmark doesnt have any hair. Yea we beat OF, but whens the last time yall can say HF beat OF?  I know that theyll beat yall again this year.  You may think we got swamped by newton, but i think we did pretty good considering it was NEWTON. Alot of people thought is was goin to be worse than that.  Yall are just jealous that Hallmark was smart enough to move to a school that was a way better football program, instead of staying at a school where the football program is goin down the toilet.

I do not think you want to go there, if you will look back in History you will find out who has had the better

football prgrams. HF has been down the last several years, but look out we are making a come back.

  3. Ouch!!!!!!!!  Can you say o'fer in District!!!!!!

Gloating over injuries? Not cool, IMHO.

It's my understanding that there is more issues at HF other than injuries. ;)

You are probably right about "other issues", however, the response in question came directly after a post about numerous injuries and being short handed.

What can you do about no participation in the program. They have to be the smallest school in the district aren't they? They did have like 7 or 8 sophomores on varsity but only about 28-30 on varsity roster when they played Lumberton. With that information it would mean 60-65 in the entire football program? What "other issues" are you referring to? Kids not wanting to play? They didn't have but two teams last year I believe? And freshman getting pumled by sophomores and juniors doesn't nake the team better it just makes more quit.

So why is it okay for the JV to be tackling & blocking dummies for the Varsity during practise, could it be to make them better. IMO it is no different than playing a tough non district schedule. The better the competition your up against the better it should make you.
  4. HF vs EC 7th Grade Scrimmage

    HF 3

    EC 0

    8TH GRADE REAL GAME

    EC 22

    HF 12

It was good two see these two youngs squads face off against one another. The future looks good for these

two programs if these young men can stick together. Good Luck to both teams this year.

Oh I forgot to give Kudos to the HF & EC Jr High Cheer sqauds and the EC Dance Team all of them did a really good job, very entertaining.

  5. Do they have a 9th grade team?  If so, they should play the JV schedule.  Other teams JV squads should not be penalized by not having a game because another school cannot field a JV.  Move the freshmen and up and play. :-\

I agree, we should do this it will only make the team better. The Varsity has been decimated with injuries and the lack of players that came out for football. They had to move allot of JV players up to field a varsity team. I believe the way they have been handling it, is they have a mixture of Fresh. and Soph. players to field one team.
  6. Ok is there anybody that is not sore about losing in their own stadium that would like to respond?

I am not sore at all, in fact I am quite proud of the way the Horns came back from all

of those mistakes to make a game of it. I was simply saying that these were two pretty evenly matched teams and the score reflected that. Liberty did not blow the Horns out so get over yourself.

  8. i was not only at the game, i was in it. im not taking away from the comeback you made in the second half but i think 28-6 at the half would have led to a blowout had we not started celebrating early. our run d was killed by your short speedy runningback, but we shouldnt have ever let a comeback happen.

Welcome to Texas High School Football, " BIG MO " comes and goes like the tide.
  9. I do not know much about the Bobcats, but I did get to see Liberty first hand Friday night. This one will

be a close game in that I think HF and OF are about the same caliber of teams. Liberty has a real good offense with descent size and speed. I was impressed with their QB, reminded me of Lumberton's and he throws a pretty sweet pass. I do not see many 3A teams in this area being able to completely stop their running game. The 12,000 lb gorilla is their defense, they give up a bunch yards & points. If Liberty plays better defensively they should win this game. Sorry my 21-3A brethren, I just call'em like I see'em.

    Liberty : 42

    OF: 35

  10. Going to be a good one! Im going with EC.

I agree this will be a good game if HF can get rid of the "Fumbleitus" that plagued them Friday night. I think they had a total of 9 fumbles against Liberty. Hard to win a game with that kind of stat.

One thing I can say about HF is they never give up. This young team has a lot of character, they could

have rolled over against Libery, but instead they kept fighting and almost pulled off the win. With that being said, I am going with HF in a close one. Good Luck to both teams, I pray they have an injury free game.

  11. They also have no pressbox.

Please be patient with HF, IKE really sucker punched us. I think by next year we will have a

facility to be proud of. Panther Fans are more than welcome to come sit with the HF folks tonight. I

promise you with the group of fans we have now, there will be no trouble. Friday Nights @ Longhorn

stadium these days is more of a social gathering than anything. Back in the day there would be no

way I would make that offer.

  12. Really hate to hear that about HF...hasn't been too many years ago they were always "salty".  Had lots of team and school spirit.  Too bad, hope they can get it turned around.

I hear you. I talked with my Brother in law last night after Lumberton's Freshman took it to our Freshman

to the tune of 30 to 12. He told me that the kids have a serious lack of discipline and the coaches are letting them

get away with it. He also told me that the HF Coaches appeared to be overwhelmed with confusion as to what plays to call. I was really surprised to hear this about this group of young men as they were our hope for the future.

This Class of Freshmen @ HF was the one team that could actually play with the likes of WOS and Silsbee. Of course we are talking about JR High ball, however I was really hoping it would carry over to High School. I hope everything starts getting better for HF and it starts with having a good attitude.

  13. WOW only one first down for HF. sounds like it might be a long year for them.

YEAH it looks to be a pretty rough season for HF. This is a young group of kids, many of whom have not competed at the varsity level. Couple that with the fact that they are learning a new offense and defense makes things pretty challenging for them. The thing that concerns me the most is the amount of injuries HF has and the lack of conditioning. By the time HF finished the scrimmage part and went to a game type situation they were completely gassed and could not keep up with the speed of Anahuac. I say this not not to take any thing away from Anahuac as they are good, Barbay has his team ready. I look for them to be in contention for their 2A district title. Good Luck to both squads.
  14. Yes it was pretty bad, tough to see the Horns struggle so much. In the actual scrimmage part they hung with the Panthers but when they went to game situation it was though they were to gassed to go. I think the 100 + Deg Temp. might have something to do with that. The Panthers clearly dominated the Horns with superior execution, speed and conditioning. The Panthers looked like they had been practising for months and clearly have their offense & defense ready to go, heck IMO they could start the season right now. The Horns could not get nothing going offensively, I think they are still in the learning phase of the new offense and given more weeks of practise and another scrimmage will only help things. Defensively they need to do a better job of tackling. The Horns missed allot of tackles in this scrimmage. I know that Justin Sculley got injured, but I am not sure to the extent of the injury. I hope it is not to bad and he gets back in action soon. Good Luck Horns keep your heads up and keep working hard. Hats off to the the Panther's, they will make some noise in 2A this year.
