Here are the stats for each first team offense.

This scrimmage had a 12 minute running clock for each offense to run as many plays as they could get in.

First 12 minute set:

Hamshire-Fannett 1st Team offense vs. Deweyville 1st Team defense

HF

rushing  10/15 yards
passing  1-6- 14 yards
total      16 plays/ 29 yards
FD            2
3 and outs    3

2nd 12 minute set

Kirbyville 1st Team offense vs. Hamshire-Fannett 1st Team defense

Kirby

rushing        17/107 yards    TD
passing        1-5- 5 yards
total            22 plays/ 112 yards
FD                  7
3 and outs        0

Kirbyville did reach the HF 11 yard line but failed to score on 4 consecutive plays. Turn over on downs.

3rd 12 minute set:

Deweyville 1st Team offense vs. Kirbyville 1st Team defense

Dewey

rushing        13/63 yards    TD
passing        0-2  0 yards
total            15 plays/ 63 yards
FD                    3
3 and outs        1

Deweyville went 5 plays and 65 yards scoring on a 38 yard run to start their offensive series. Kirbyville made a few adjustments and slowed down Deweyville the rest of the 12 minute set.

I did not keep 2nd team stats. Each team ran their 2nd teams for a 10 minute set. Lightning sent the teams in after that, then I left.

If I were to rank each teams offense and defense based on this scrimmage, it would go like this:

Offense

1. Kirbyville
2. Deweyville
3. Hamshire-Fannett

Defense

1. Deweyville
2. Kirbyville
3. Hamshire-Fannett

For what I viewed today, the team that impressed me the most was Deweyville. Good offense and very good defense. Coach Babin and his staff are doing some very good things there. I expect Deweyville to have a good season.

Team that disappointed me the most was Hamshire-Fannett. Their offense simply could not move the ball against Deweyville and their defense really never stopped Kirbyville. HF better step it up on both sides if they want to compete for that 3rd playoff spot in 21-3A.

As for Kirbyville, offensively they looked okay but it was against a very weak HF defense. Hard to judge how good they really are. Little disappointed in the Wildcat defense giving up that big touchdown drive by Deweyville. Kirbyville did adjust and looked better after that.

All three teams obviously need more work but I have to say, Deweyville was the most impressive.
I would have to concur, HF's 1st team did not impress, I thought we would have a shot this year. I just did not see the intensity or the desire to win like DV & KV brought to our home scrimmage, heck even the new Coaching Staff were not all that fired up. HF has got to get some size on the defensive line or we are going to get gashed against power running teams. If I had to choose I would say Dewyville's 1st Team Defense came away with the victory based on everall performance. DV has a really salty defense, the problem they are going to have is depth. As far 2nd Team goes I will have to go with HF on this one, the underclassmen really shined, they had 6 true Freshman competing in the Varsity scrimmage. HF's future looks bright.

Kendrick King was as good of a 8th grade QB/Athlete that I have seen in a LONG time!
I agree.

One has to wonder if he will be a HF Longhorn or not. ;)
He ain't going anywhere. HF fans will not let that happen even if we have to kick in some Green Backs to keep him, why not everyone else does it Ha Ha LMAO.
3. Yes Sir you are correct, that is a talented group of Freshman, especially Kendrick. They are the only group I can recall in the last several years that have won back to back District Championships in their 7th & 8th grade years against the likes of WOS & Silsbee. I am curious to see if Kendrick and any of the other talented Freshman will get to see any varsity playing time. Good luck young Horns.
4. Yeah that is a mistake, Blake is only a Junior. Blake is the nephew of Fulton "Flip" Johnson, former Buffalo Bills receiver. He should have a good season with a year of Varsity under his belt. I think they should give him a look at Linebacker as that is where he has played on defense every year except last. I bet he will see some offense, he is pretty quick for a big boy, his legs are thick like tree trunks. Get ready 21-3A the HF Horns are going to be competitive this year.  8)
5. I expect good things from this group of young men this year as it will be an experienced Senior laden team. If the injury bug and grades do not plague them and they pickup what the new coaching staff is trying to do then this team could be a Dark Horse in the run for a 21-3A playoff spot. I have been waiting for this group to finally come together as a team. This group of young men have played well together over the last few years in Jr High and JV. I think we will take a few teams by surprise as they will be overlooking a good HF squad. IMHO, this is probably the most competitive team that HF has fielded in the past several years. Good Luck Horns, I hope you Seniors have a fun and rewarding season. I look forward to seeing you young men on the Gridiron.

They had a guy that wanted it and would have stayed when it was down to Mangan and Stewart. They chose Mangan.
Barbay would be a great hire, unless the Jasper opening has his interest.
I'm with you, if offered the Jasper job it is his for the taking. You know Jasper is going to try and go after him being he showed interest in HF. Heck why wouldn't he, closer to his hometown and a chance to compete and coach with the cailber
of talent that the Jasper area offers. It could not come at worse time for HF, I think somebody like Barbay could really help our program as we have some talent in place next year with more coming in.

C'mon people, its time to give super major props to this young man for his exploits on the football field. Major talent! The kid is quick, fast, strong, durable, etc, etc, whew-www! I haven't seen a team stop him. I sometimes measure talent from the growth from the previous season. He gets better each season. Last night I saw Kendrick fake,  reverse his field, juke, slash, and slither the HJ's defense. On one play, it seemed like they should have dropped a flag on HJ's defense because all 11 players missed Kendrick TWICE on ONE PLAY! You would have thought HJ had 22 players on the field 8)
I hear you DOVE I have been watching this young man myself and he is a great talent, I just hope HF can hold onto to him.

How did Darius Gray for Huffman, play? The kid got real natural talent and instinct for the game.
He looked to be a real solid player, quick and strong. Same old story for HF though, lack of execution on offense lead to to many 3 & outs. Smith & Co had a horrible night 8 of 23 for 84 yards passing. Half of the failed pass attempts were dropped balls with other half being  way over or under thrown. Sam Huff ran the ball pretty well in the first half, however Huffman made some good adjustments at half time and stuffed him in the second half. As for the defense, another poor showing as we could not stop anything. The defensive line seems to be our weak link as we have no size or power therefore we can not get any penetration into the back field. I hope things get better because the morale seems to be getting worse and we have not even started District play.
