I just hope HF can finish the rest of the season without any serious injuries. I have a great deal of respect for the kids who are putting on the uniform every Friday night and I hope the HF community supports these kids. But, from what I hear, injuries have reduced the Longhorns to a skeleton crew at best. A situation like that can lead to injuries. After all, this is football, not curling. That being the case, I don't know if winning a game is nearly as important as letting these kids know the community supports them and praying like the dickens that they finish the season with nothing scathed but a little pride...a condition that's much easier overcome than broken bones.
HF played pretty darn good last week, who know what can happen on a nasty field.

Do we know if/ when 3A and 4A will vote on this?? Thought 3A was already suppose to have done so???
I hope 3A votes it down. This is a terrible idea. With the way the economy is and how school districts have to really pinch pennies these days, they don't need extra costs on travel expenses. Some school districts are having it tough already with the schedules they have.
Not me I am all for it. Heck we travel quite a bit in preseason any way, it would just be in reverse.
Schools like  Tarkington, Shepard & Coldsprings would be district games instead of preseason. We could play the larger 3A and other Classes in the preseason.

Very ugly game on both sides.  Saw more flags thrown than in any game I have ever seen!!!!  All flags I saw were deserving also.  Longest game I have ever been to!!!!!  HJ played poorly and got the W 24-8 with 4 missed extra points!!!!  HF has a lot of heart and played with great emotion tonight!!!  hope they get the problems over there worked out!!
This game was an improvement for HF this year...less flags than normal. They cut down on the fumbles by a factor of about 10. Still a long game though. At least you had somewhere to sit.  :)
Almost all the flags were thrown on HJ... HF did everything possibly illegal in that game and had way less flags than HJ... HF had 1 ejection i believe, but should have had at least 2 or 3.. cheap shots and punches thrown all night by HF.. Refs just always seemed to be looking the other way i guess
That's BS, your trying to come up with excuses as to why HF gave you a good game. Why I will agree that HF did commit a foul or so and maybe a cheap shot that was not called, HJ got by with some as well. I saw a one HF player take a helmet to helmet shot that was not called. Some of what HF did was in retaliation for what HJ did, and one player was ejected for it. I am not condoning any of this behavior but to come on here and say it was all HF is plain wrong. HF played their rear off, HJ did not stop them they stopped themselves. I bet the stats will tell this same tale. HF played one of their best games all year so take your hard fought victory and go on down the road.
5. Don't get me wrong I firmly believe in having a disciplined team, but I also think you can go to far with it.
Kind of like some businesses like to micro manage their employee's. I say let them be kids and teach them
right from wrong. The petty stuff like tucking in your shirt needs to be overlooked. My Junior & Senior year @ HF we had Charlie Wilson as a AD/HC and like Mangan his style of discipline was suffocating and it ultimately cost him his job.

HJ 7th grade B:  0
HF 7th grade B: 14

HJ played much better than last week with no turnovers & completing 7 of 9 passes when we haven't thrown 9 passes all year.  Still need work on OL & DL.  HF's field was in great shape even with all the rain today.

WOS looked good, but you have to keep in perspective who we were playing. Hopefully, we will come out next week and look just as good against BC. I did not expoect their game with Silsbee to be so close. We cannot have any let downs from here on out. We must get rolling and keep the momentum.

HF, you guys played hard. Hang in there, there is a silver lining in there somewhere. One thing about losing so many kids to injury and what not, your younger kids are getting valuable experience that will be key next year.
Yeah, we just need a Coaching Staff that can lead them. HF has never gone 0-10 in the history
of their program and someone has to take responsibility for it. I would not be calling for this had we been
competitive in our losses, but to lose the way we are right now is not good and it is time for a change.
Have you any responsibility in this team? Why don't you go out and join the team? You could be their lone back-up player. You obviously have not been to a game and watched it in person?  Do you really feel that this years HF team would have differnt outcomes with different coaching staff? You can't run a race without any horses, friend no matter if you have the best rider.
I have been to every game except the OF game and yes I do believe a different coach might have made a difference, it may have not changed the outcome but at least we might have been competitive. Everygame this year these kids look like they had just stepped onto the field for the first time. They clearly lack direction and preparedness and IMHO that falls on the coach. Heck look at the transformation that has taken place at schools such as PNG, OF & PAM to name a few. These are all first year guys at these schools imagine what their programs will look like when their kids have a few years in their system. This team has some horses, they just need the right people to transform them into Thoroughbreds.
8. I'm not totally convinced it's all (100%)the coach's fault at HF. It wasn't like football at HF was dominating any teams in the past few years. I know one thing though, it's hard to come out of losing skid. Players are unhappy, parents, and certainly the coaches. It's like a disease, treatable but sometimes hard to get rid of...........

Dove, I would agree with you somewhat. Since Jasper, Silsbee, WOS & Bridge City moved

down to 3A several years ago the days of HF's dominating Football program soon vanished. On the other hand to take a beat down the way that HF has done so far this year should not go by without someone taking responsibility for it and that falls on the Head Coach. IMHO is time for a change and some fresh ideas.

10. "B" team:

WOS 7th- 8

HF 7th- 0

"A" Teams:

WOS 7th- 53

HF- 0

WOS 8th- 54

HF- 12

I don't think these scores should be posted :D

I agree I was at the game and for WOS, it was like " shooting fish in a barrel ". I will say this though, that the Officiating for the game was the worst these eyes have ever seen. IMHO, the Refs for these games need to be reported and sent back for training before someone gets seriously hurt. It would have in no way shape or form changed the outcome of the games but it sure would have gone a long way in making the games safer. By bad Officiating I mean it was blatant fouls on both teams that when by unpunished. Even some of the WOS faithful were remarking on how pitiful these official were. These guys clearly were there just for the money and wanted the games to be over ASAP so they could earn their paycheck and go to the house. I realize these are just JR High kids but they do deserve some respect and need to be taught whats not allowed in the game, how else will they get better. Hats Off to WOS, they as usual will have something to look forward to in the coming years.
11. One thing's for sure, this is an excellant week for WOS to try their new offense. HF can barely field a team. Should be an easy night for the Stangs.

Speaking of HF, I have recieved some news about those guys that is quite disturbing. I will make a few contacts today to get the scoop on this and let you guys know.

Okay AAW, what is this news about HF that is so disturbing? You have me curious as to what's going on now.
12. I think we need to give Coach Mangan 1 more year. Basically what he has to work with is JV talented players playing at the Varsity level, and freshman talent playing at the JV Level. If he does not do anything with the experience and talent he will hopefully have back next year, then IMHO a change will need to be made.

Honestly, he has done nothing with the experience and talent he has had in the past. Look back at the class of '09. They had guys like Burrell, Daigle, Koehl, and East who had been starters since they were sophomores and look what he did with that.

If you remember correctly three of the four young men you mentioned were injured for most of, if not all of the season.
13. I think the HF kids have already lost this one, they have lost all motivation this year and seemed to be physically & emotionally drained. I just hope we can get the kids that will be eligible to play next year back out for another go at it. HF has never had an 0-10 season and I pray that this will not spell the doom for football program next year. Good Luck Horns please keep your heads up, things will get better.

I am being realistic about this one and we will be lucky if WOS does not hang a half a hundred on us by

Half time.

WOS - 70

HF - 0

14. Man, after watching the 8th grade maul the HF, oRANGEFIELD might be the real deal from what I'm hearing about their varisty.

I agree this could be real ugly tonight. HF is in a downward spiral and OF is climbing High. But hey

these are kids we are talking about and anything can happen and that is why they play the game. Good Luck

to both squads I hope they have an injury free game for once, Lord knows HF could use it.

15. Anybody know HF vs OF score????

I believe these are the correct scores. OF's 8th Grade A Team will be a force in future, they are pretty darn

good, of course the same can be said of our 7th Grade A Team.

7TH Grade B

OF 6

HF 0

8TH Grade B

HF 6

OF 0

7TH Grade A

HF 26

19. Huffman takes this one in BLOWOUT fashion. I would like to think they would take it easy on HF, but probably not. It's just not their style. Woke up 2 years ago in a "Podunk" district that they think they're too good for and been takin it out on whoever they can ever since. Too bad that is just never schools in their own "Podunk" district. HA

Well I can tell you HF has given Huffman a fare share of beat downs in the past. Like the saying goes if you dish it out you better be able to take it.
