  4. Should be an interesting game tonight at Bob Hope School. Our girls are ready to play and we have a second team all district selection last year in 2A basketball, returning. Hoping to start the season out 1-0!
  5. They just said on the broadcast he had movement in arms and legs. Being taken to the hospital as a precaution.
  6. Was that the basketball standout at Kountze that just got injured for Baylor? Hoping it isn't bad.
  7. So this is what I have. Feel free to tear it apart, tell me why I'm wrong, etc. I love playoff talk! I picked Central to beat Livingston and send Vidor and PNG to small 5A. I've just done one side of the bracket so far. A&M Consolidated vs. Whitehouse Brenham vs. Hutto PNG vs. Barbers Hill Waltrip vs. Fort Bend Marshall
  8. Kountze beat us tonight in a good game, so they will be in the playoffs. 1. Hardin 2. East Chambers 3. Warren 4. Kountze
  9. Our setter, and lone senior, Daniela Gutierrez was recently offered a spot on the volleyball team at Louisiana College, a NCAA Division III school in Pineville, Louisiana. We are very excited for Dani, as she is the first athlete from Bob Hope School to receive a NCAA offer!
  10. Hardin 13-0 East Chambers 10-3 Warren 8-5 Buna 6-7 Kountze 6-7 Anahuac 5-8 Kirbyville 3-10 Bob Hope 1-12 If Kountze beats us tomorrow, they will make the playoffs most likely, as Buna has to play Hardin tomorrow night. If we are able to pull the upset on Kountze, Buna loses to Hardin, and Anahuac beats Kirbyville, things would get interesting because you would have: Buna 6-8 Kountze 6-8 Anahuac 6-8 Buna has beat Anahuac twice, but went 1-1 with Kountze. Kountze went 1-1 with both Buna and Anahuac. Not sure how they would figure that one out.
  11. I wouldn't broad brush everyone with that stereotype. I've seen plenty of coaches that require their players to have integrity in all areas.
  12. If it was a kid in my program I don't care if the ref saw it, their mama saw it, or anyone else, that kid would not touch the floor or field in any team we have. That kind of garbage has no place in athletics and if the coaches do the right thing, that kid would be run out of the program so fast it would make his head spin.
  13. You are spot on. Even better, have them run hitches. You could tell the receivers for PAM were far more aggressive than the cover guys for PNG, so just spread them wide near the sidelines, hit a hitch, have them break the open field tackle, and get up field.
  14. Obviously I'm a homer so I want Brenham to win that game, but the way their defense has been lately, I'm not convinced.
  15. I saw that too. If it was me, that kid wouldn't have touched the field. Made the whole team look bad with that individual stuff. Let the scoreboard do the talking.
  16. [Hidden Content] PNG will get the 2nd place small school from Crosby's district first, then hit an HISD school, and then would get Brenham (assuming both teams win the games they should win)
  17. I thought the run defense looked very effective when they kept two backers. That's why it made zero sense to keep bailing one on third down as if they were going to pass downfield. I don't think PAM threw one vertical pass all night.
  18. I was looking at the UIL brackets and it looks like in round 3 of the 5A Division II playoffs, PNG would face off with Brenham. Last Friday night the Cubs put up over 600 yards of rushing. Once you get to the playoffs, if you don't make adjustments, it won't be pretty.
  19. One thing PAM needs to address though is why Hines was only able to run into a 5 man box. The first thing I said after that game is that PNG deserved to lose because they refused to make the adjustment to leave a 6 man box on 3rd down and Hines torched them. They had back to back possessions in the 3rd quarter where they had the 6 man box on 1st and 2nd down and stopped Hines, then moved one backer out and Hines torched them. I'd assume 80-100 of his 300 yards came on those two possessions, where PAM was stuck at 3rd and 6 and 3rd and 7. That lets me know that PAM's offensive line needs work, because Hines was having to carry the load when they had the advantage, but against a base defense, PAM's line was not showing up.
  20. It's not that Memorial doesn't have the talent to win, I think they do, but I think Faircloth will be smart enough to scheme away from Vincent and will pick on the rest of the secondary. If I were coaching PNG, I would also try to establish the run early and eat the clock. The best way to beat a team with a lot of explosive players is to keep the offense off the field. I've seen PNG over the years (Brenham beat them in the playoffs on the way to state one year) and they are always very fundamentally sound.
  21. This will be my first game in the Golden Triangle. When I coached at Westbury in Houston most of our games had not so great crowds. Back in my hometown of Brenham, we could pack em in pretty good, but from what I hear tonight should be nuts. I'm having a hard time picking Memorial to win seeing how they went life or death with Houston Westside. Westside beat us last year over at Westbury, but we weren't very good, and well, they weren't either (I think they lost 84-0 to Katy in round one of the playoffs). Brenham manhandled Westside in Week 1 this year, and Brenham isn't all that great this year either. I tend to think that PNG will manage the game better and keep the ball away from that standout corner PAM has and will win by 14.
  22. This is what I have. It doesn't include tonight's games except for Bob Hope vs. Kirbyville and Hardin vs. Kountze. Hardin 10-0 East Chambers 8-1 Warren 5-4 Kountze 5-5 Buna 4-5 Kirbyville 3-7 Anahuac 2-8 Bob Hope 1-9
