It is a tremendous home field advantage when teams use to turf have to come in & play on grass. I think it is very smart on Nederland's part to keep the field as it is. Whether or not anyone else likes it, they are use to it. -
I will state it again. Who knew the field would be wet so they could prepare for it. Great coaching during the game, great strategy prior to the game & home field advantage!!! Nederland won the game!!! That is the goal. That is why PNG had to adapt. The Indians just were not able to overcome. It was a great last drive & two point conversion by the Bulldogs!
-
The adjustment, that PNG made in the second half, is what turned Roschon loose for running. Our game plan, in the first half, to pass effectively, was slowed down by slick footing. The answer is the field slowed us down & forced us to adapt. (Home Field Advantage Once Again!) Then our coach not having Shug fall down at the one yard line, on his last TD run, & then run the clock down so there would be no time for a Nederland drive, lost us the game. Nederland had a great drive at the end & the two point conversion was executed to perfection. The answer to your question of what lost us the game is all of the above. Plain & Simple!
-
No excuses for last year. PNG adapted & began running more in the second half & we were successful. PNG adapted & lost. Nederland executed the last drive & won. It is not an excuse to say the field was watered down, it was a fact! Nederland has out coached us on a regular basis recently. Congratulations to them. Is that plain enough that I feel we lost the game. In fact it is as plain as the watered down field was! Smart move, home field advantage, etc...

Well, in all honesty, a practice field can be wet down for practice, the same as the stadium field being wet down for a game. Once again, it is a home field advantage & nothing to be ashamed of. the visiting team has the problem, and responsibility to overcome this. No Biggie!
-
As far as the Nederland wet field is concerned, as a visiting team you can prepare for rain if it is expected. You can adapt to play in the rain if it exists. However, when the field is reduced to a mud- pit prior to the game, intentionally or not, after days of no rain, the team who is practicing on the wet field, (a field that should in no way be wet & muddy), has the definite advantage, until adjustments are made by the visiting team. I wish to make clear that that is why it's called home field advantage. In the late 60s, early 70s, visiting teams called Indian Stadium the "Cow Pasture" because the grass was kept long to slow down the team that had not practiced in that environment. You must learn, as a visiting team to overcome & adapt.

Execution of blocking schemes on the O-Line far outweighs recruitment of players. Elevate, concentrate & dominate in every aspect of your blocking, effort =success. Just excited for the players that are receiving recruitment attention. -

Since our Offensive Line is so strong this year, then other running backs should be able to handle some of the run load, even 4 yards at a time if necessary. Shug will break out on some long runs. If the defense stacks the line to stop the run, or rushes Shug to shake him up, they are in trouble. Any receiver that can run a quick 6-10 yard route will get open. The short passing game may be our bread & butter this year. Regardless, I am glad we have the coaching staff in place to make the adjustments needed to get those wins! PNG IS THE PLACE TO BE!!! -

I make my point again. I'll take the playoff run. Nederland can have their district win. Those "so called" poor little Indian Boys will be my blessed Indian Young Men of football, regardless of their overall record. I have missed 3 PNG football games in my life. That's over 53 years. if you go just to watch the Nederland game, & do not care about the rest of the season, PLEASE DO NOT CALL YOURSELF A INDIAN FOOTBALL FAN! Call yourself a disappointed loser, or a pumped up winner, based upon 1 game during the season. (That is Truly sad!) PNG PLAYOFF FOOTBALL IS WHERE OUR SPIRIT LIVES!!! -

That's ok, I am 53 years old & have an excellent memory of when we dominated Nederland. So no worries here! -

Those same people would be content with a new coach that "only" knows how to beat Nederland. What is their logic? Common sense people that they are, ...and I use common sense very loosely, know that there is so much time to be saved by not having to go past district in the playoffs, no traveling for games. Also, the tens of thousands of dollars the fans won't have to spend on playoff tickets, or t-shirts. Sure, that makes sense. No need to make that football playoff money to help out the school, the important thing is that you beat Nederland in football. (Is this attitude & outlook ridiculous enough for you, or do I need to go on with this foolishness.) GIVE ME THE PLAYOFFS, THAT IS WHERE PNG SPIRIT LIVES!!! -

If our defense can work out skill positions, & our offense can execute, I'll take a run deep into the playoffs, over a district win against Nederland. If we have both, that's just bonus extra goodness!!! -
If you think his size is impressive, imagine the grocery bill!!!

A statue would be better than a corny looking wolf costume. Just a thought!

Need a mascot statue, on the sideline, with Three Wolves on some Timber Logs to go with the theme.

ARTHUR LOUIS NAMED NEW HEAD COACH AT BEAUMONT UNITED!

There will always be whining parents. A good coach takes this in stride & plays the kids that he feels can best run his system. The coach must evaluate & put those players in which can execute the system that he puts in place. Victory will come with a good system. Best of luck to the new coach! -
