  1. Absolutely intolerable. If coaches don't suspend player for season, then parents should step-in. Is that the reputation that you want your child to have? I would hope not!!!
  2. Agreed. Memorial & Nederland as Division 1, PNG as Division 2. (Hopefully with another game vs. Barbers Hill)
  3. Baseball, softball, soccer & track have good fan bases at PNG. Basketball has never garnered any spirit. Most kids don't care after Little Dribblers. We have had some great players, over the years, however, most concentrate on other sports. I can assure you I am at every PNG home basketball game, & once again have missed very few in my lifetime. Only stopped going to away basketball after I got married. Per wife's request.
  4. Agree completely! Live & Learn.. Hopefully, coaches will see this & adjust for future games.
  5. Agree completely. We have to find a run defense that is effective all the time, not just on & off during the game. That is key to success.
  6. You can work on the short (10-12 yard) passing game repeatedly in practice. Timing, routes, execution. Get that down & you will have that weapon in game play. Let the run work, if it doesn't, throw the short, quick passes to back the defense up & then run some more. In the playoffs, speed will cover speed after the first 2 rounds. That run game & short passing game will eat the clock & win games. Long passes are not going to be there in the later playoff rounds due to quarterback protection times & defense speed. Use the weapons you have to your advantage.
  7. I can tell you that as the generations come up that are totally ME ME ME oriented, that is to say, nothing is more important than themselves & what they want, this will cause less support for anything that is not personal. That goes for school & sport team support, as well. However, don't take the responsibility away from the parents, and community to lead the way in fan support. Just start teaching the younger generations that there are more important things in life than their cell phone & YouTube videos. Get them committed to excellence in their achievements, then they will be supportive of the commitment that those football players put forth every week to play on Friday nights. PNG has & will continue to have, a special spirit that will last well past the fair weather fans of today. Keeping that fan support encourages more participation in sports from the younger kids coming up. THAT IS JUST THE FACTS!!!
  8. THE KEY IS SUPPORT YOUR TEAM & THE BOYS PLAYING EVERY TIME, EVERY YEAR, WIN OR LOSE!!! I have missed a total of 4 PNG games in the 51 years since I went to my first one at 9 months old. I was taught to bleed purple & white. Never leave early, stay to the end. I guarantee that the fan following at PNG is based upon children being raised to believe in that spirit. So I love to see massive fan support on the opposing side. If that team has a winning, or losing season, that support shows quality people & quality fans!!!
  9. Memorial concentrated on the run because it worked. I am a firm believer in running a play until it doesn't work. Memorial kept it simple & ended up with the victory. Good coaching!!!
  10. It is an incredibly tight fit in the space for our band when we travel to Livingston. Indianettes overflow to the side. I would say there are only about 900-950 seats total on the visitors side. That, of course, is if you pack in tight. Hope they let you sit on the home side. Just look happy & wear green and white. That should do it!!! Ha Ha Ha!!!
  11. Livingston has a concession stand on the visitors side scoreboard end. Pray for no rain, because access to concessions area & bathrooms turns into a severe mud pit when it rains. The visitors side is ridiculously small & there is ZERO parking. Cars are usually spread out for dozens of blocks away from the stadium. It is a sad facility for 5A, or for that matter, would be sad for 3A.
  12. How do the boys playing for Central at the cornerback & safety positions look this year?
  13. Central always gets up & focused for a PNG game. I believe that PNG will have to play very tough defensively, so Central can't keep our offense off the field. BF will find ways to score. I believe PNG will win by 21 if we play the way we are capable. PNG cannot afford a let down after an incredibly competitive Memorial game.
  14. Remember it is more important to be focused on playing the game to win, not all of the hype as to "how your team will dominate" the game. If you dream about the effort you are going to have, and not concentrate on the effort you have to put into the game, the crowds will not matter. I am hoping for effort/concentration & an exceptional football game.
  15. I would like to see PNG vs. Odessa Permian in the preseason each year. Help get you ready for district play. Wonder if we could find an interesting neutral site stadium? LOL
  16. I graduated in 83 from Port Neches-Groves & we used to say if you beat Nederland you had a good season & if you beat TJ you had a great season. TJ was most assuredly the big rival!!!
  17. I contacted the PAISD Administration office. They stated that they were going to try to get personnel to open the gates by 5:15pm tonight.
