DAWG reacted to bullets13 in Kountze (12) @ Hull-Daisetta (22) FINAL
Just kind of depends. At that level your studs are going both ways, every snap if possible. You might have a handful of kids subbing in. But those 5'5" 130 lb freshmen aren't seeing the field unless there's a catastrophe.

Thanks for the love everybody! I truly mean that. This is a great group of young men who have a Coaching staff that works as hard as they do. My son is a Senior and honestly, with Covid and Hurricanes...this year has been an emotional roller coaster, for sure. You never knew when it could all be shutdown. I'm proud of these young men for playing each snap like it could be their last...I'm not a fan...I am a very proud Dad and all these boys are like my kiddos. The 'Lil Red Machine Rolls!!!!!

44-8 early 4th
So much for district 12 getting swept by 11... bring it home DV

Honestly I don't know if anyone in this district has a chance. Could be a clean sweep by the northern district.

I hope Deweyville is just focused on Cushing I would guess that is who it is going to be. Never look ahead unless you want to go home in the playoffs!

So.. I'm glad that the region/state accolades are somewhat selective but as mentioned before, the spots seem reserved for the deep playoff teams. Mostly. Perhaps it's just laziness. I know what it is with the district picks.. it's trying to keep parents happy. Unfortunately, that mindset is rotting society. I don't even really think that all district is that big of a deal anymore. It's too watered down.

DAWG reacted to oldschool2 in Hull-Daisetta vs High Island
Also.. 20+ years ago they didn't have every starter and most of the bench making all district.

The district champ will likely get the MVP. And there usually aren't many players that make All State anymore that aren't on teams with playoff runs. Maybe he makes it and congrats if so.. but politics usually wins.

It's funny how you only focus on the downtrodden.
It's obvious you are one of those "kick a man while he is down" type.

He speaks truth but my question is why does he only speak the truth about a certain couple of teams?
He comes off as a hater.

I know I explained this earlier and will again. Shortly after stepping down, Coach Hodges reached out to me to explain the steps that lead to his stepping down and turning overt the reigns to Coach Wallace. Again, it was a divorced father who had wanted to see his only son play his final year of football. He had hoped that final year would be at H-D, which is why he waited until it was settled that his son would play his senior year elsewhere. He was still around the team during the week, but the position allowed him to get away on Friday and see his son play.
Was it foolish of Coach Hodges to hold out hope until so late in the game? Maybe. But then I could never understand the circumstances. I have no children of my own and I grew up is a household with parents who have now been married for over 50 years.
As to Coach Wallace, I think you are underestimating his skills, he had been Coach Hodges' right hand man since he got there and possesses plenty of football knowledge. Simply because the Bobcats had a less then successful year doesn't mean that Coach Wallace was not qualified for the job.
You are entitled to your opinion but I would point out that over the last several years, Hull-Daisetta has run off a number of decent coaches. You don't want to gain a reputation like the one you are earning by starting a topic like this.

Absolutely right. Never mind the fact that HD graduated what little talent they had over the last couple seasons, had their best returner transfer, and played with a bunch of freshmen, oh..and played some of those ^ games with injuries... None of that matters. They should've won district and made a deep run.
Excuse me while I roll my eyes. LOL

DAWG reacted to AggiesAreWe in So many things to say.........
I will never lump an entire fan base off what a handful of fans say or do. I have extreme respect for WO-S football and all that surrounds it. Also have great respect for some of their fans here on this site. WOSGrad, griff, Gasilla, GUNHO, WO-S 89. Mad respect. But there are a few (and everybody has them, including Silsbee) that made comments in the "smack" thread (for a lack of better words) that showed zero respect for Silsbee football. You know who you are. Comments like "game will be over by halftime", "Silsbee will not score more than 14", "Tigers aren't tough enough". Score predictions like "42-14", "28-7", etc. etc.
For those few I say this:
HOW BOUT DEM TIGERS!!!!!!!!!
3-0 BABY!!!!!!

HD94, we were right where y’all are at three years ago. Nine of these seniors started varsity as freshman and got there butts handed to them every Friday night but stuck it out knowing that it would pay dividends in the end. They’re playing with a chip on their shoulder right now and just a touch of an attitude. Good luck to your young team this year.

Can we use the excuse HD beat themselves? Just kidding. WH was the better team tonight. We knew there would be growing pains with this young team, we just hoped it wouldn't be at this game. I for one am excited for the future at HD. Good game by the Oilers and I really liked their offense. The thing about this game is you talk trash all the way till game time then you go across the field and hug your family.

You may be right. But we’re going to enjoy this one. This group is something to watch on both sides of the ball.

Hopefully the mighty Sabine Pass will not have "too many horses" for HD. It is certain that every team in the district will certainly have "too many horses".

DAWG reacted to Old school fan in Hull-Daisetta vs West Hardin (The Rivalry)
If WH doesn’t win tonight, it will be because they beat themselves penalty wise. This is a senior heavy team with all but a couple of the seniors starting varsity when they were freshman. Football smart athletes that have been playing together since before JR high. People can say what they want. These are good respectable kids, most of them national honor society students that know how to play the game. With the new offense for this year, it puts the ball in the many different hands and they can break one at any moment. I believe it’s going to be a good productive season for the Oilers. I’m taking WH over HD because of the experience level and horses in the stable.

IMHO HD won’t be challenged until week four. They will blow through WH & Sabine Pass. Cushing will be their first real challenge.
