1.
Mike Dunlap (St. Johns assistant) would be good for LU.
Why?
 2.
Here's the list from Bob West: Pat Knight Sean Sutton Don Skelton Matt Cross Tom Abatemarco Steve Green Alvin Brooks Glenn Cyprien [Hidden Content]
This is a sad list compared to the interest we would get in the good old days of long ago.  The only two names I'd even consider on here are Skelton and Cross.  I don't know who Green and Cyprien are so maybe one of them would be ok?
 3.
I'm not saying that I believe Matt Cross should be the next coach, but has anyone been to downtown PA lately.  And he is recruiting talent to play there?  And they have beaten San Jac, a perinnial  national JUCO power in each of the last two years and are going to the JUCO Nationals!  I would say he has done a job at LSC-PA akin to what Billy Tubbs did when he showed up in 1976 as head coach at LU.  Given the right opportunity, I think this kid will do amazing things at the D1 level in the future.  Maybe Roc should have hired him as an assistant last year.
I agree totally.  What he has done is amazing.  And to ignore it would be ignorant.  I would much rather have him than another "recruiting ace" no matter where they are from.  We need someone that knows how to coach (and recruit)!!!
 4.
I am talking about HS coaches coaching at LAMAR PA, not coaching a the div 1 level, your all on Cross Jock and he coaches at LAMAR PA lol you acting like this is some big school that coach cross is coaching at, I would take joubert and Sutherland anyday over Cross, Lamar can bring in a descent div 1 assistant to be the coach I can promise you that. I never said that Joubert and Sutherland could coach at the div 1 level so get the facts straight!!!
I thought you were an idiot then you began posting and removed all doubt.
 5.

I agree with Green Menace so hopefully Rodney Terry at UT will not be considered for the LU job.
He is being considered!
That would be another huge mistake. We need a coach not a recruiter.  Granted, many times they go hand in hand but we need someone that has proven they can win as a head coach.
 6.

6:30 p.m. from Beaumont
Repetitive Errors really doing West Brook an Injustice for the actual talent they have over there!!!.
Their coach/program is horrible.  Their talent is overrated.  They don't even try to really evaluate who the best players are.  They just watch and see who made 12 yr old all stars and when they get to West Brook they are already penciled in.  Their baseball p.e. is a joke.
 7.

Didn't take it personal. Gave you an answer 77
No, my question was where have the great running backs of the last few yrs gone?
Cook went DII and had a decent career from what I recall...Someone help me on the numbers. Hemmings played Safety at McNeese. Harmon is a Freshman at Lamar. Bertrand won't be heavily recruited next year because he ain't big (he'll play at 5'9" and around 200 lbs in 2011), and he ain't real fast (he'll run a 4.6 probably next year), but much like some of the others from above when the pads are on he is a player. Nelson will get some interest I am sure at the FCS level in 2012. He is 6'2" with decent speed (4.6), amazing hands and the ability to go get it! Peveto is only a Sophomore, but at 6'3" 200 lbs and growing (I suspect he will play LB at 220 pounds by Sr. yr) with very good speed for his size, I suspect he could be the first big recruit we have had in some time. There is another intriguing Sophomore that was on the team at years end with the size and drive to get some looks down the road as well (Reasons at OL is 6'3" 250 and growing). If he grows like his brother and ends up 6'5" 280+ he will be a beast. I hear unlike his brother he has a passion for FB!
Let's be perfectly honest, Bertrand won't be heavily recruited because he is a 5'9" WHITE running back.  If he were black the 5'9" would not matter.
 8.
Amazingly stupid. ::) and some folks wonder about Southeast Texas.
Well, considering u are an aggie, your comments don't carry much weight.
 9.

I've talked to D quite a few times and he stays by the fact that he's coming to LU, and he is very excited. I still expect everything to be worked out.
This isn't Central, he can't just say he wants to play and the teachers make it work. He's got to be eligible, and ineligibility is the story of this kids life.
Well one thing that is on his side is woodard. Obviously he could care less about academics or character.
 10.
I just hope woodard isnt filling the roster with other schools problems
that's exactly what he is doing.
 11.

The running game has arrived.
with another 5'8 "quick" back?
Don't we already have one or two of those?
 12.
Lu starts a qb with dreadlocks, they can have my tickets.
Mine too.
 13.

Lu starts a qb with dreadlocks, they can have my tickets.
Where are your tickets as I may need a few more.
Mine will be available too.  Sounds like we are assembling "Wildcats".  Maybe Goldie Yawn will be our next coach.
 14.
I agree some of these posts are completely ignorant. Beyond the obvious image stereotyping, I don't think people understand the impact of an athletic QB. I have been a offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator. Believe me, a dual threat QB is a offensive coach's best friend and biggest nightmare to a defensive coordinator.
First, I agree IF he truly is dual threat and he carries himself with class and if he can pass college level courses.  Too many programs could care less about character.
 15.
Quote from the article Johnson will compete with returning quarterbacks Doug Prewitt and Andre Bevil for the starting position. A primary focus for coaches will be to determine the best way for Johnson to impact the offense. Whether that means putting him at quarterback, running back or receiver remains to be seen. Jeremy Johnson isn't being given anything but a shot to start at QB for Lamar.
Yeah, I have some ocean front property I will sell you.
 16.

you can't have both?
I don't think Lamar has that luxury.
I like your phlosophy...."aim low" is what we should all live by!
 17.
That doesn't sound like there's a competition for starting.
Shouldn't there be?  If you ask me, once we finally switched to prewitt we became much better.  In other words, our glaring weakness was no longer the qb position.
 18.
Attitude matters. Talent matters. Work ethic matters. Nothing else does.  Got more tattoos than Dennis Rodman?  As long as you listen to the coaches and work hard, I could care less.  Got more piercings than a punk band?  Same deal.  Be on time, put in the effort, put the team first, and I'm good with it. I don't care if our starting QB has a crew cut, dreadlocks, no hair, orange hair, or Troy Polamalu hair.  I care if he has the talent to win games, a "team first" attitude, and the willingness to work to improve.  If he doesn't, I don't want him.   The idea that we are good enough to be making arbitrary decisions about what a player should "look like" before we "allow" him on our roster is either asinine, naive, or both.  To be successful at our level, we're always going to need to be taking chances on guys who are a little short on ability (size, for example), who have had issues in the past, or who are looking for playing time after transferring.  To reject a guy with exceptional talent and *four* years of potential eligibility because his hairstyle doesn't meet someone's standards doesn't even deserve serious debate on this board.   Welcome to LU, JJ.
WOW!  I TOTALLY DISAGREE!!!!  LOOK LIKE A PUNK....ODDS ARE YOU ARE A PUNK.
 19.
From what I understand is Roc recruited a local kid that has no business on the LU roster. This player get's beat down daily according to one of LU's coach's. I thought Lamar hired because he was a very good recruiter, I have not seen this yet.
who cares if he recruits a bad player.  Especially if he is local?  What I can't stand are all of the crappy non local players he recruits.
 20.
They better do something soon because I know several people who did not renew their season ticket's.
I cancelled mine several years ago.
 21.
it is very funny how you all can talk about the kid coach roc offered him in the 8th grade to play it was just on quiet an I can't wait to see ya faces cause he gunna prove all of you wrong just watch and see that's even if he decides to go there ya'll need to mature an find something better to do but for forney the greatness has just begin. Just watch an see I have all my money riding on him.
You gonna bes loodin yuo-ba's monies iffin yous be lettin orbs rides ons hims.
 22. No surprise that Roc would lose to Marlin.  I even predicted it.  And I think I amost had this exact score.  I think it is time to cancel the basketball program.  :-)
 23.
Difference, although ULL was 1-8 they played a harder schedule to date and have the better coach.  Quote from Roc's postgame interview we have to play harder in practice.  He won't learn you have to play the guys who can win the games not the ones who impress you in practice.  Don't believe Mike James played at all.
I don’t for sure what you are talking about, however u r dead wrong.  If a kid won't perform in practice shy would you reward him with playing time?
 24.
Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion, but I swear some of you could win the lottery and only find time to b*tch about all the taxes you would be forced to pay.  I mean he's a Cardinal now, maybe try throwing a little support his way. In the end  Jeremy Johnson may be bust but it's not like he could not cut it at Sul Ross St. (DIII) and LU is counting on him to take them to the promise land.  As an LU fan, I want them to recruit the best players and anytime you can sign a player that comes from a BCS program that regularly wins its conference and is traditionally a top 15 team in the FBS then I say - great!
I hope we redshirt him unless he clearly beats out prewitt.
