Coach has to go find a qb this spring bc he does not have one. I hope we can beat SFA and Nichols to save face on a good season.
Sorry, but the BS that happened last Spring....DOTY, GONZALES, (the little guy from Hardin).....None getting an offer and u have 7 or 8 on the roster...2/3 can compete at QB, they should have pulled back the scholarships from the guys not being able to make an impact at other positions.... You red shirt Doty, Gonzales, OR the Hardin QB(whom ever)...ALL 3 are athletic enough to Play QB/WR and are play makers!! Defensively... There are enough West Brook players???  WHO's MAKING ALL THE PLAYS?  Maybe there ISN'T enough West Brook players...Should they go to KELLY to find them???  Legacy???  OOPS...they came from the area High Schools, WB included!! and I still say, as I have stated before...JJ as a WR can be NFL material!!!..... I stated this after watching the Spring game, it seemed like his balls were floating...then everyone wanted to chop my comments up....I don't have to put together any numbers to compare to the QB's that are on scholarship at Lamar vs the Class of 2010 QB's from SETX high schools....I can do that in my head...NO COMPARISON... As for the future...my money is on a JUCO transfer, Prewitt, or Louis(if he can stay healthy) to be the QB next year. Sorry, I just feel it will take JJ a couple of more years to develop the arm strength needed to start...
Oh, one last thing...I am still shocked with the Doty deal.  What happened with that?  Was he offered scholarships and just turned them down or what?  No idea who Gonzalez is.  But, we have numerous QB's on the roster at LU.  So, that might be why LU didn't offer them anything.  I think we had 5 or 6 at one point.
Yes there was several QB's on the roster...one of the scholarships went to a 6-5 QB from Nederalnd that wasn't even 2nd TEam all district... :-\
No, he wasn't one of them.  They signed him as an 'athlete' I think.  Not the best decision from what I've seen of him (at Nederland) but I guess time will tell.

I would love to know which talented WB kids wanted to go to LU but LU didn't recruit?  I am talking kids that have the ability to play 1-AA football (I know it isn't 1 AA anymore but I can't ever remember who is FBS and who is FCS).  For some reason, I doubt that LU would not recruit WB or ANY other local school regardless of their level/size if they have someone worth recruiting.
LOL... U don't want to go there...West Brook Kool-Aid?  EVERY STARTER ON DEFENSE FROM THE CLASS OF 2011 earned an athetic scholarship MR Kool-aid man... ;)  the ones that wanted to be at Lamar and could have played there...two that I know of WANTED to go to Lamar. That is nice that every defensive player earned a scholarship.  But, to where?  There are thousands of football scholarships available.  Just because they got scholarships doesn't mean LU should have recruited them. Where did Justin Jackson end up signing?  If it was a 1-AA school or higher, then I am with you.  LU should have been all over him.  If it was JUCO or Division II or III or NAIA then they probably shouldn't have signed him. Do you even know who LU has on its roster? Oh, off the subject, why do you have naked dudes as your profile picture?
Just reading back..that was a dumb statement...lol..
Why is that a dumb statement?
It is all relative.  The premier guys from any high school are normally going to go to major colleges.  That doesn't mean that the only high school players worth signing are the ones that go to UT?  There is second tier talent at local high schools just like everywhere else.  Your post makes no sense.  Granted, we probably can't win a national championship with local talent only but we certainly could with a majority local roster.  Really, I prefer we recruit locally first but I'm not going to boycott the team or anything if we sign an All American from Michigan or New York or wherever.
If you honesty believe you can win in even D-2 collegiate football without getting out of your backyard to recruit then you can get used to getting beat consistantly.WB and Lumberton had pretty good high school programs that these kids came off of but the difference between a pretty good high school player and a pretty good D-2 recruit isn't even close.I know coach Woodard was successful at Navarro and I don't mean to imply that he should be winning the conference in his second year.He will get Lamar on the right track but he won't do it with a roster full of local players.Sorry if that hurts your feelings but it's a fact.
Well, you are wrong so it doesn't hurt my feelings at all.  Even if you are right why would it hurt my feelings.  Get a grip.  Btw, I definitely don't expect him to win the conference either but I also don't expect 66-0 beat downs by teams in our conference.

Now, as for the coaching, I have been unimpressed for a majority of the games.  A couple of times they've seemed to have very good offensive game plans.  It is like they figure out what they should do and then quit doing it either by halftime or at least by the time the next game rolls around.  Their defense hasn't been good in any game that I can recall. I like their kicker and punter. Their offensive scheme is totally uncreative.  Their personnel decisions are suspect if not awful.  And their defense is largely non existent.  Other than that, they are doing great. By the way, I will continue to make every damn home game so all of you that want to bash me.  Go ahead, at least my butt is in the stands supporting them in a real way instead of with just Polyanna posts and excuse making.
all under different circumstances...Bevil played while it was still a game--; Johnson when there was a still a miniscule reason to play the run and (if you use your imagination) still a game, and prewitt --nothing to do but throw...that make sense?? lemmee see, cuz of the score....in the beginning, Sam defense--play both pass and run(Bevil in)...then, a little more pass(Johnson in)..then all pass (Prewitt in)..
You gotta consider what your recruiting against and the type of player it takes to be successful at the collegiate level. The premiere local guys are playing at Austin,Norman and College Station. The guys that are left are good high school players on average teams.Thats just not condusive to winning big time college football games. There is a reason Sam Houston did not have a loaded local roster.
 23.
Maybe y'all are just more patient than I am. Looking at other start-up programs, like South Alabama, and Lamar is not keeping pace. There are more and more empty seats at LU games. Interest is waning. Winning solves these problems. Embarrasing showings like this week cant help recruting or ticket sales, so how does it get better?
People need to go to the games win or lose.  I would imagine that at least 1/2 of the people on this board have been to 2 or fewer home games.  Success takes support.  Support means $$.  Fans (and rich donors) = money.

But as soon as he got a chance to be a hero the final drive it all of a sudden felt better.
Good lord.  That is fricking pathetic.  Absolutely pathetic.  And why the hell wasn't Prewitt put in?  It was obvious, aside from one run, that Johnson could do squat!!

Justin Jackson, 5' 9" 185lbs safety: [Hidden Content] Bruce Reyes Jr 5' 11" 195 QB: [Hidden Content]
WB lover- Reyes signed with an NAIA school so I don't understand why you think Lamar sholuld have given him a scholarship.  I am pretty certain, from other posts, that he is your son so I am not trying to dirsrespect him or you.  He is a very good athlete and was a very good 5A quarterback.  I would have loved for him to have walked on like Prewitt did and see if he could prove the naysayers wrong but he was smart and went with the money.  Also, I thought Lamar did recruit him but as a safety or defensive back? That is nice that every defensive player earned a scholarship.  But, to where?  There are thousands of football scholarships available.  Just because they got scholarships doesn't mean LU should have recruited them. Where did Justin Jackson end up signing?  If it was a 1-AA school or higher, then I am with you.  LU should have been all over him.  If it was JUCO or Division II or III or NAIA then they probably shouldn't have signed him. Do you even know who LU has on its roster? Oh, off the subject, why do you have naked dudes as your profile picture?
