Jasper probably needed a game like this.  they won, but got their weaknesses exposed perhaps.  On the other hand, the competition is naturally getting tougher each round.  It seems that last night Jasper finally met a team that could match them in speed??  
 
 I think without question that Jasper has the tools to diversify.  Now is the time!  They just need to get the ball into Randy Spike/s hands with enough room for him to get started.  Then he can make his own breaks.

Many fans have worried all year that we have no offensive diversity. If we could develop just a few simple, short route passing plays, it would make the running game lethal. That coupled with our improved defense would have us competing and winning with the best of them. It may be too late to get that going now. It's a shame because this team has even more potential and would love to see it maximized. Hopefully the staff has learned from the game management faux pas.

It's all about defense. If that shows up for us like it has the past few weeks, we should be in great shape.

Jasper much improved since beginning of season. I have much respect for their program after last years game against WOS where it came down to the last possession. Go dawgs!!!!!

These CH people on the smoaky forum really kill me. First they believe they actually have a chance, now they go fb page watching to see what our FANS are up to. They are trying everything to make themselves feel better about this beatin that's coming on Friday lmao

Well we got beat. but not by 30 plus like you said.  Im sorry but I will disagree with you about East Texas Teams. LCM and Huffman both played with them. If our offense would have stepped up and caught balls Carthage would have lost. Jasper and Buna both beat east Texas teams. Maybe next year we can show you setx isn't  as bad as you have us out to be.

I think their radio announcers are delusional also!  After the game one said Jasper "stole" their victory against Huffman, but that Chapel Hill earned theirs.  Huh!!  If some other team wins, it is an accident or luck.  If their team wins, it was a monumental victory because they have EAST TEXAS speed.
 
He said there was no way Huffman had seen the kind of speed that Chapel Hill has.  I feel that Jasper has pretty decent team speed, with at least three or four with outstanding speed.  Several teams in the district had speed.  I think it is pretty much a given that year after year that Jasper, Silsbee, and Cleveland will have pretty good speed.  Even last place Splendora had some speed; including a 100m state champion in track.

Yes, a 4-6 team that played a very tough schedule, lost some very close games, and was a state finalist last year.  Not your average 4-6 team.  They did knock off their district champion last week.  If this is indicative of the strength of their district this year, there may be a sweep for district 10, not 9.

True.  This puts the whole district 10 in a new light.  Jasper handled some teams pretty easily.  Enough to make you think we had a weak district.  The way this is playing out encourages me for the other three games in Lufkin.  Kilgore beat Henderson, so the whole district may not be nearly as tough as advertised ??

Garbage time.  For sure, Barbay starts putting in the reserves faster than perhaps any coach I have ever seen.  Stats don't win games, scoring one more point than the other team wins games.  Barbay is more about developing his younger players so that they can step up when needed.  Seems like a good philosophy to me.  

KilgoreAggie98,  Thank you for the recap of the kilgore games.  That is good news that Kilgore is near full strength.  There should not be any excuses from either team.  At this point all teams are zero and zero.  To think otherwise is to set yourself up for disappointment.

why would wo-s run up the score on a team that is 0-10 ,they will show some class in this game i do hope so.the mustangs will give some jv players some playing time i feel sure .the mustangs will try and work on the running game and eat up the clock as much as they can. I AM ASKING YOU THIS ,whats the point in putting up 60 points on a team that is 0-10

Spikes and Williams combined had to be close to 400 on the ground with with almost all of it coming in the second half. Huffman had no answer and the score doesn't indicate how dominant Jasper was.

Huffman, I hope the QB recovers in time for the playoffs.  You guys ran into a buzz saw.
 
Congrats Dogs!  From listening, it sounded like you had some adversity to overcome also.  Didn't sound like you started with the best of field position sometimes, yet had two 98 yard TD drives.  Okay, one of those drives was a one play "drive", but it still counted for 98 yards rushing.  As they say, speed kills.  And Jasper has a bit of it this year.

Their streaming has been down the first two weeks.  But just tried and it finally worked, so maybe they will be able to carry the game.

Congratulations to Jasper for the win.  And to Vidor for playing a hard fought game to the very end.
