There is your issue, you keep hanging your analysis on the first couple games of the year .   Ned made defensive changes during the year and it payed off the last 5 games or so of the season.  I don't know what happened at the GCM game but we moved on from it obviously.  I love how teams without tradition continue to make fun of teams that have it.   Lets see if your team can make it past the 3rd round for the second time in the last 50 years or so and maybe you start your own tradition.

Actually, Angleton and Dayton are nowhere near similar. Angleton runs the wing-t offense. Also the Wildcats have a much better defense than Daytons. Most points given up was to Crosby and again they were missing 4 defensive starters that game. Don't know if PNG has faced any wingt offenses, but Angleton has played similar offenses that the Indians run. Foster runs the same offense and they have more athletes then PNG and the Cats gave them lots of problems. Again I'm sure PNG is a heck of a team or they wouldn't be playing, but I think Angleton will give them a heck game.

Not really. Central probably played the best overall game of their season right when they needed to and still lost by a point. It tells me the teams were pretty even as they were constructed last night.
It's just that instead of the 21 carries for 142 and a touchdown Dremone Francis had, that's probably 21 carries for 242 and three or four touchdowns with Tray Williams healthy. Not only that, his presence on the field opens up opportunities for other players because of the attention he draws.
Williams not playing for King is pretty close to Morse not playing for PNG. It's that much of a difference.

Not needed...in my opinion he called his best game offensively this year, opened up the playbook as Soulja says.  A botched snap on that 4th down play, couldn't have been predicted.  Whaley was already over 150 yards for the night with 3 TD's, nothing wrong with the playcall.  If he gets the yard and a half, then we probably have a different outcome.
In my opinion, we showed why we are just a playoff team and nothing more.  The kids balled out but there were a few times where a championship team would have made the play on the field or not picked up a flag...
First half, a King pass hits our safety in the hands and he drops it in the redzone.  King punches it in after that...
In the 3rd quarter, the snap goes over the King punters head into the endzone, he is able to pick it up and get off a punt.  At the least that should have been a safety for 2 points...
On a Central punt, the King returner muffs the punt.  Somehow we don't come up with the ball...
A holding call on a WR in the redzone which we wind up getting no points from in the 3rd quarter.
A false start in the redzone that we wind up settling for a field goal instead of punching it in.  That 4 points was the difference in the game...
The kids played their heart out tonight, left it on the field.  Nothing to be ashamed of imo.

I too want to say good luck to these 4 teams.
Nederland -  I give you a hard time, but you're team is a consistant class act.  I know you'll be prepared.
PN-G - You guess execute so well on both sides of the ball and your qb is soo accurate, you'll give any oposine defense fits...
Lumberton - so glad you're back in the postseason.  You made a statement early with the new coach. Go knock em dead
Central - you haven't reached your full potential yet, but what better time to do it than in the postseason?  You've gradually gotten better, and look to see you peaking in 2 weeks.

Healthy constructive criticism is one thing. Questioning calls or even position decisions in the heat of a game is not the problem.  The problem is when it graduates to coaches being accused of, as you put it, having an agenda that conflicts with the good of the program.
I really do appreciate that you and others see this as a place to go to see that whatever problem you have with a coach is brought into the open.  The problem with that is that bringing the problem in the open here accomplishes nothing.  We at SETXsports have no decision making ability and, quite frankly, neither do the posters that are here.  In other words, there may be some education that occurs, but if there is truly a problem, those that need to be educated, the powers that be in a particular school district, are usually not.  That can only be accomplished by approaching them directly privately or by attending a school board meeting and addressing the issue publicly. And if the problem is truly there, I think it your duty to pursue it in that manner so that the kids get what they need.

Get you a 4 year degree from an accredited university and you can see to it that nothing(games or players) are mismanaged. I'd be willing to bet there is an accredited university within driving distance of your residence. Come up with the cash to pay for tuition, study your butt off, and you can be a coach in 4-5 years...nothing to it!

Usually as the lone utility of a game update thread for me is to update our scoreboard, I generally will not read a thread once I have gotten a final score in that game.  The only time I may look in a game thread after game day once is when the game thread continues to have life almost a week after the final gun has been fired as it indicates that something is amiss.  I had the opportunity to do that in about 4 different cases and there was certainly something amiss and all for the same reason.
It seems that in all 4 of these cases (I won't mention the specific schools, but after I reveal the problem, I think it will be pretty obvious of which ones I am talking about) supporters of the teams want to lay all of the problems of a team at the feet of the coaching staff, or more particularly, the head coaches at these schools.  I understand frustration at losing to a rival, losing a game that you thought your school should win or by more than you though they should lose by.  But some of the statements in the 4 cases have gone way far beyond that.  They openly question the ability, and in some cases the desire, of these coaches to put a good team on the field.
Folks, we simply have to stop that.  Jordan Wilson has prided himself on this site being a place where all members of our local community, including coaches, could come to talk about what we all love to talk about, high school sports.  And make no mistake, coaches DO read this site.  However, who would want to come to a site where they are not only told they lack the ability to place the squad of your dreams on the field, but that they really don't care if they do or not.  If you truly feel that way, there are places to have your grievances aired and possibly addressed.  However, this is not one of those places.
Simply airing your problem with a coach here simply accomplishes no end.  It only serves to divide teams and distance coaches from the communities whose support, not scorn, is what they need to maintain the respect amongst their ranks and progress their teams to the point that the fans believe they should be.
Not to mention that such conduct is against the rules of this board.  But I would rather put it in terms of a request that you folks, who I know are capable of restraint even in the extreme moments of frustration, exercise that restraint so that more rigid enforcement of the rules is not necessary.  I do so with this warning, should my request not be heeded, that more rigid enforcement will become necessary.
    Thanks for indulging me.folks.

Well, another classic MCM...glad to see the Dogs put up their 6th consecutive win...I have to admit that I enjoy it quite a bit!!
On a more serious note, hats off to the png kids for fighting back and playing hard...I realize that a loss like this is hard to take, but you cannot fault the effort...things just are not going their way right now and that happens in sports...those png fans that want to criticize the coaches and put "for sale" signs in the coaches yard; you need to get a life!!! I am pretty confident that this game is more important to those men than it is to you...also wanted to commend the Indian Spirit for staying for the trophy presentation...definitely not necessary or expected, but very classy move...and for those fans of ours complaining about png players not hanging around for the presentation, get over it!  I have no problem with that either.
Now, that's about as nice as I can be to png and that's enough of that!  Congrats again to the Dogs...there is a grit and toughness to this program that separates them from the rest in this area right now...one district loss in 5 years is the proof of that...as I said before, it's a good time to be a Nederland Bulldog!
