TurtleMan got a reaction from Raiders94 in Tough night for 22-5A
After watching the first quarter, i would agree that Lumberton had the advantage. No finished drives though. Porter had some good plays on defense as well. I'll also admit that the lightning delays took my interest out of the game and i mentally checked out haha.

TurtleMan reacted to piratefan in Vidor vs. West Orange-Stark/Post scrimmage comments here!
Your coach said he wants 48 minutes of game type play. "Plays scrimmages just like games." Maybe, just maybe you think Coach knows what he's doing more then you guys? I know its hard to believe because everyone on here knows more then there coaching staffs. Take your complaints to Coach Thompson and see what he tells you.

TurtleMan reacted to Alpha Wolf in BISD scared to play at PN-G?
Well said Soulja...
As a Jaguar faithful, season ticket holder, graduate and kids in the program, I don't agree with the higher ups on this one. I enjoy the trips over to the Reservation. 2 of the last 3 games with the Indians have went to OT and despite being a 2 TD loss, was pretty close for the most part last year. I enjoy our home games at the Butch but enjoy all the road games just as much. Taking away home field for any school is not what Friday nights are about.
And this would cost BISD more money, money we don't have. I personally don't think this is going anywhere. See you all at the Reservation October 21st, which will decide who gets the #1 seed and who gets the #2 seed in D2...

TurtleMan reacted to NDNTime in BISD scared to play at PN-G?
Easy solution. BISD can just forfeit every away game scheduled in PN-G.
Oh, we should petition the UIL to keep that brass section mute during the run of play as well.

TurtleMan reacted to Barney Fife in BISD scared to play at PN-G?
This is absolutely the craziest things I have read on this site. Although I do understand Mr. Frossards concerns, I am totally against any team having to give up their home field advantage. In my opinion PNG is one of the most noticed high school programs with a very strong history and heritage. to other schools it is quite intimidating some times to play at the reservation but hell that the fun in the game. Try to send those dancing Indians home crying. Just really don't see how a neutral site would settle any disturbances. to me it would actually make things worse. If this happens fans coaches and players will arrive at the games with a chip on their shoulder.

TurtleMan reacted to Matthew328 in 21-5A & 22-5A check this out: FNF Predictions
It's tough not to get a little defensive about these things because there's so much work that goes into it. DCTF does a great job, they have a luxury FNF doesn't in that they have 2 full time staffers plus interns, writers etc. We have zero full timers on the writing side, but that's not an excuse, regardless I should have caught the Livingston deal sooner, it makes me sick when I miss stuff like that because I feel like I hurt a group of kids.
The positive is despite zero full time staff we've managed to last seven years with the magazine, which is saying something. We will be more accurate than DCTF in some areas, less accurate in others and we'll both be wrong in a lot. Hopefully, even if we are totally wrong you'll find a few articles or information that's useful in the magazine.

TurtleMan reacted to griff in Attention All SETX Fans Attending the WO-S Game
I posted this in another thread, but I'm posting it here again so that more people will see it...
It's a cool thing how SETX football fans come together in moments like these. I can remember going to playoff games years ago in the Astrodome (and other stadiums as well) when West Brook, PNG, Nederland, Silsbee, BCP, French, were making deep playoff runs and seeing people from schools all over the Golden Triangle. One in particular was seeing people wearing custom made T-shirts saying "PNG supports West Brook" the year the Bruins won state. Good memories.
For every non-WO-S fan who will be attending the state championship game, it would be a welcome gesture if you would wear a shirt, jacket, or something that signifies the high school you support. We want to know where you're from, meet some of you, and thank you personally for showing up and supporting the Mustangs, So, wear your school names and colors proudly so we can identify you and say thanks. Feel free to post a reply in this thread saying you're coming and what school/town you're from. Thanks, and go Mustangs!

TurtleMan reacted to Cougar14.2 in TOM WESTERBERG HIRED AS NEW BARBERS HILL AD/HC!
That's definitely one of the more ignorant comments I've seen on here this year. I would assume apples to oranges is what you were talking about? Evans won those state titles with Lennon Creer and Denarius Moore. Creer was the most dominant player at the small school level at that time and Moore was a future NFL draft pick, he had them both on the same team in 2A/3A. The next time Tatum was really good they had Jalen Overstreet who was at the time probably the #5 dual-threat qb in the entire country . . . playing 2A. Some places, especially at the small school level you're going to win sometime because your players are just that much better than everybody else. When Tatum had to come up this last alignment and their talent level didn't dwarf everybody they went 7-16, the last time they came up before that was '08 and '09 when they went 11-11. It's a lot different coaching when you have the best players on the field, that's never going to be the case if he went to BH.
You can even look at the Rivals pages and see the talent difference even though BH has the much larger enrollment. Kids at each school that were recruited enough to receive a profile:

TurtleMan reacted to FrodoNDN in PN-G vs Angleton poll
Actually they threw the ball because they couldn't run. You said yourself in the Dayton vs. PNG thread, that Dayton lines up and runs the ball at you to tire the defense. Be consistent, at least. My point was that they had a tough time running the ball against us and they had more luck throwing the ball, so that's what they did. We've done well against some pretty d@mn good running backs this year. Dayton was not a one dimensional team. I don't know about Angleton, if they are run heavy, then that works to our advantage IMHO. BTW, no team threw over 200 yards against us all year up to Dayton. In fact Nederland threw for 194 and WOS threw for 191. The only two teams over 150 yards passing against us and the only two teams to beat us. Every other team has basically lined up and ran against us and when they do that they don't fair well.

TurtleMan reacted to ATWILDCAT in PN-G vs Angleton poll
You guys on this board are funny as hell! Literally funny as hell!
And your right Cougar, Angleton just doesn't match up well with the Cougars. Just like we always have problems with GR and recently Foster. Play them close, but they always seem to make one or two more plays than us. Crosby just has our number I guess.
I think this will be a fun game to watch. The way our offense has been playing lately though, if the defense doesn't have another good game it could be a long night for the Cats.
