It's hard to compare Setx to Houston. How many 1A, 2A and even 3A schools that averaged into the Houston numbers

Problem #1 Kids aren't participating,Problem #2 not developing talent pool available Problem #3 can't coach/play defense anymore Problem#4 kids/parents won't support staff in place Problem#5 lack of coaching up has caused Dayt to be more recently known to squeek out wins=kicking field goals & great special teams play=now that's failing.Me=I'd aplogize dearly,build/honor by name a Bronco facility,pay him what he's earned,JS only needs coaching help for amt.of kiddos,he knows everything you want to know/learn about building blocks & winning.He's a Bronco@heart been put on a limited budget to work with.$$$$$$ from atheletic events goes into a general fund,smh.Since JS HC job many of his coaches have left Dayt for other positions.Let's choose wisely,we need a coach kiddos love to play for,not because their parent has political connections.School board decides & I don't remember very much of their former atheletic abilities(except Payne)=scary stuff I'd say.I also agree=don't be a weasel=if current HC is not your man,Man up & say you're not what we want.Those doubting JS presence=take that back(many times he's been asked for HELP).We'd already been searching if he hadn't been giving help tips to staff in place because they don't have the expertise to make quarterly ajustments.as needed.Some Dayt coaches present are being contacted on other possible job positions & some talking down Dayt football to other district coaches at Bronco Relays should be ashamed.Opportunity just months ago@75th Bronco re-union was a wasted opp for a ballot box as to the direction the majority that wore the uniform to give hindsight as to direction/recommendations for a sch board to review for DHS.I'm done posting on this topic but got starch/iron ready to look good even if it gets ugly cause my heart/soul is about the kiddos future,to be anything less I'd be an old man not caring a bit.It's a job,but one w/lasting effects.Always judge yourself first,if you've done well the kiddos will cont.to call you Coach & find you to talk about the memories & impact you made to produce a winner in society

Alright, I've finally cleared up the quote that kept coming up for the tradinup person.  That joker came up every time I was trying to post. Stattrax, when you look at the body of work the past few years, even though there are some second round losses.  The program has improved, the kids are stronger, the stadium upgrade, the community support has probably tripled or quadrupled, and more kids are going to College.  So in my eyes, it's headed in the right direction.

It would probably do Crosby (the team) good if they could schedule a legitimate, top end 5A or 6A team in pre district then to challenge them. That way when your really challenged when it matters, like in the later rounds of the playoffs, the team has faced it before and will know how to handle it.

So after getting home from the lake I was able to enjoy all this garbage.. Here is my take on all of it... From what I watched this year the best team I put my eyes on was Crosby.. They had more team speed and played at a faster pace than any other team I had seen.. Besides all the hype a few put on this site, my own eyes thought they had the best chance of advancing... However playoffs, are the playoffs.. Throw away the stats, and records, and strap it on.. After seeing the scores, they must not have been the best team in the region.. That being said, IMO out of the common posters on this board, I think they had the best shot.. I have made the post before of the Crosby posters as novice winners... And of course I am ridiculed with tradition means nothing.. Honestly it's all garbage. I get on her for entertainment value... And at the end of the day it doesn't make a hill of beans, because I know who I am and know what my school is about.. I will say, taking all the trash away, I think it's a good deal Crosby is trying to do in building a program.. Coming from the bottom is often not easy, and staying at the top is highly impossible.. As most of you know I do not consider Crosby SETX, however I did think they had the best opportunity to advance rounds.. To me without the likes of Plus1 has made this board a little less fun for the past few months.. Online, I think 14.2 is a wannabe. But in real life, I would have a drink with him... So what I'm stating is take it all in stride, this is just a site to have a little smack talk fun... Everyone has to eat crow once in a while, or possibly 6 years in a row... But it's part of life... In conclusion, we should all be proud of our teams on this board and support whoever is left..myself, will become a Mustang.. As we all know.. No one remembers second place.. So at this point lets jump on another band wagon and root for who is still in it....... I myself have haters on here, as well as good folks I have met and befriended.. We all have a common like.. And that's high school football... So the season is over, the crow has been eaten, the dogs are still dogs, the Indians are still indians, the Cougars are still cougars, etc. all the kids are safe and the holidays are coming up.. While I still have a good audience, I hope everyone has a safe holiday with all their families.. Life is to short to not live in the moment, enjoy it while we still have it... I for one can't wait till next year to start talking more trash and reliving it again... Peace.....

It depends on the area I think.  Being a military guy and transferring every 3 years, one of the things I looked for was a good place for football.  When new people are moving in to an area, say what you want, if they have a quality athlete, they are looking at that the facilities. They are looking at the coach, how their kid will fit in and what chance their kid will have at the next level if they move there.  I also think it goes in cycles, sometimes you get a special group with leaders, not just players!  I lived in Fort Worth before moving down to Crosby, it's the same up there.  Same type of athletes and facilities.  When they built the Allen stadium people up there were pissed off(especially when it was shut down), but they didn't want to spend the millions on it.  They did and they have a winning program.  Got to spend the $$$

Many will point to all of the above, but I will take the measurable one...a loss of population.
When I graduated from WO-S in 1986:  The largest district, which was what is now 6A, constituted the following schools: Beaumont-Charlton-Pollard, Beaumont French, Beaumont West Brook, Nederland, Port Arthur Jefferson, Port Neches-Groves, Vidor and West Orange-Stark.  Of those schools, 3 (Charlon-Pollard and French, who were merged to form Central and TJ, who was merged with Lincoln and SFA) no longer exist.  And even the schools that they now constitute have not been able to maintain 6A numbers. 3 others have dropped to what is now 5A and another all the way to 4A.  As of this upcoming alignment, only West Brook of those 8 teams will remain in 6A and some will argue that they benefited from the infusion of students of South Park High School which was closed after the 85-86 school year.
What was the 5A district has met the same fate as to my recollection only Lumberton remains.

yup, northeast S.A. schools certainly benefits, Wichita Falls as well. Copperas Cove used to be a yearly beast (not sure if they're one now) San Angelo Central also is good. 
 
Ppl are moving to Odessa again cause of the oilfield work, coincidentally Permian is good again and of course they have the facilities and a booster club that gets in the money…….. Hmmmm
 
 
 
 

There are less kids graduating from Vidor High now than when I was a senior in 1976. Hard to compete with the new schools; money, kids, top level coaching. Hard to take a district that averages 1400 kids per school and compete with the ones that average 1900+ and a lot more money. The refineries are highly automated anymore and most of the physical work is done by contractors who are mostly migrant (turnaround to turnaround for those in the business). Unless we get some new industry here, I don't see it improving.

My take on it is back in th 50's through 90's there were alot less schools. Texas population has exploded and the metro areas have grown to incredible numbers. There are so many different schools opening up and tons of folks moving to high income suburbs where they are creating heck of football programs. SETX pulls from families that were born and raised in those areas with not much influx in population at all. After a while the well dries up until you get that special group every 10 years (except WOS).

At Dayt Jerry Stewart made an immediate impact on Bronco football.He also came at a time w/some real good gene pools.15 great(HC) yrs we had w/some nice playoff runs & some real good hs fb kids graduated,some a bit better got offered scholarships & a few earned bowl rings,and a cpl made it in the NFL.We haven't grown much by our dist standards but also we've never had the luxury of having more than 22 seniors for leadership.I think that's what's been amazing.Nowadays we're not challenging for a dist title,4 teams go to playoffs w/ basically a pretty good 5 teams,2 mediocre & 2 that are overmatched.Dayt was once a proud community,nowadays the crowd doesn't support the program currently in place,therefore the kiddos lack interest to stay the course they started.One thing I want to ADD=Stewart always PLAYED his talent,where you ranked by your class as a fresh,soph,jr,sr mattered not=positions were earned by being present,accountable,willing,being a team player,hard worker & believing the coaches had their best interest,Team rule violations were stern=violation had concequences.In 20 (countem 20 yrs Dayt has had a half doz D1 atheletes & a crap load of pretty good high school football players.The more times you beat the same opponents=the smarter they get at slowing/stopping your schemes(some copy them).The world of football has changed,coaching that don't make immediate adjustments soon find a list of for hire coaches.Yes social media has a impact on trade secrets,be knowledgable as to who can/can't be trustworthy/even w/your private lives.What identifies a community?#1 Get over yourself=this is WE not ME,build a lasting relationship among the races=honor their past as well as yours(so why is there no school colors that Colbert had,1st Dayt team I know that made it to a state title)Would it be so hard to add some yellow to purple/wh.Know your neighbors people.From a generation of race issues,integration,Vietnam war=WE all stood together(w/o issues in school classes/atheletics,we all were drafted/joined & shed blood,limbs,life for our Country together,It's really shameful we can't serve God the same way=that's a promise of eternal life w/o costs,one I've chosen to follow.Sometimes God tells his followers=Stand,just stand,I'll fight your battles

I agree with you 100% on both of your post. That's what I like, giving respect where it's do. I'm in the "Golden Triangle" area now with 22-5A for the past 18 years. Originally from Liberty  County so I can look at it a little more reasonably. Top to bottom 21-5A has been deeper than  22-5A the last several years. The player pool is just not as deep over here. But then you can also see the difference once all of SETX, including the 22-5A district, make it to the secon rounds on. The Centex, And DFW areas are historically a step ahead. That's just my take on it, which usually doesn't mean nothing according to my wife. Lol

Once again sour grapes you cannot stand the fact that we went 2-2 with you all. Get over it. They were the same team PNG WOS was 8 or 9 weeks ago you just played NC. Now here are some stats for you to chew on. Crosbt vs New Caney 42-35 in OVERTIME  Nederland vs NC 42-28. Now that tells me that nederland  handled them alot better than you. Thats wha tis bothering you so much. I understand this is why you now claim they arent the same team only problem is you played them 1 monthg ago and Dayton played them 2 weeks ago so they just fizzled out as a team in the last two weeks. back when you were saying our best team wouldnt even make the playoffs in your district. Dayton held you to 30 points and we scored 42 on them. You are eat up with this. I say it again 22-5a is just as good as 21-5a period results are in the pudding. You may have a single better team in Crosby and as a man I can freely admit that. I am having a blast we love who we are and no matter how much trash you talk it will never matter to us. We love being PNG..... This is on you you trash talked our district all year long nonstop and now you were flat wrong. Own it. Or dont who cares.
