  1. Wake up people. Buna is the real thing. A program that has been building the last few years and has earned respect. We scrimmaged them and they are a good solid football team. This one will be a cake walk for Buna. Can't wait until they play E.Chambers. Two good teams going at it. Should be a good one.
  2. We scrimmaged Kirbyville and Played Jasper. This one won't even be close. Kirbyville by 3 TD'S.
  3. Jasper is a team that is young and will improve as the year go on. The Jasper team and fans showed good sportmanship. Good luck Jasper on the rest of the season.
  4. Six turnovers and a lot of penalities. One fumble returned for a touchdown. Crockett is an average 3A team. Newton looked bad but it wasn't because the boys did not put the effort out. They played hard. A good wake up call. Jasper lost last week the same way, turnovers. Thats part of the game. Should be a good matchup next week with Jasper if we can hold onto the football. I am still puzzled about the first touchdown that Crockett made. They had a 4th down on our 42 Y line and faked a punt and went to the right side and when the Newton player was about to tackle him he puched kicked it and when the Newton player hit him the ref. call roughing the kicker. 15 Yds and a first down and they went in and scored.
  5. The Lufkin news obviously has the JV mixed in with the varsity. The Newton JV outscored Dibolls JV 3 to 2. The return they called a touchdown was during the scrimmage which don't count, just as the Diboll fumbles Newton recovered and did not get credit for did not count. Newtons varsity in the scrimmage scored 2 to - zip for Diboll. The controlled scrimmage for one quarter was Newton 7 Diboll - zip. Diboll made a good showing and it was a good scrimmage. They varsity went for 2 hours and 10 minutes. Newton has several injuries, some from this game and some from earlier in this year. Praying that they all have full recovery.
  6. Vinton W.Brook Brenham La Marque H Scarborough B. Lee C. Caney Ck. Jasper Liberty Buna Anahuac Kirbyville Splendora Coldspring Tarkington E. Chambers Huntington Kelly Groverton Koutze Evadale Hull D. S. Pass Galv. O'c B. Hill WO-S over DAYTON Vinton over Deweyville
  7. I think thats good odds being their is 223 teams in 2a.
  8. Newton 1st team scored 1 on Buna Buna 1st team scored 1 on Newton Buna 2nd team scored 0 on Newton Newton 2nd team scpred 2 pm Buna Buna 1 st team scored 1 on Center Center 1st team did not score on Newton or Buna Center 2nd team did not score on Newton or Buna All this means absolutely nothing. Newton did not start the same alignment as they did against kirbyville but mixed their players up. I'm sure the other two teams probably did the same. Don't believe Centers offense crossed mid field on Newton or Buna. Shows that Center needs to work on their offense. The little running back from Buna really looked good. Coaches are not interested in how many times they score on each other but finding out what each player is capable of doing. In a real game you will see a different line up then you see in a scrimmage.
  9. excuse me, I forgot Mt. Ent. was a super powerhouse. Can't believe they are not state ranked.
  10. Newton - Center - Buna scrimmage went good. Coached found out a lot about their players. Fans keep score in scrimmages not coaches. Coached are trying different players in different positions along with young inexperienced players to find out what they are capable of. It does not mean anything that Newton scored more touchdowns than Kirbybille or whoever they scrimmages. This does not mean that the team that scores more toughdown will beat that team in a real game. '' WAKE UP AMERICA''
  11. Wishing mid county the best but............................................. The heck with the beer, PN-G and Ned. fans - just bring TYLENOL.
  12. Joaquin 40 Evadale 13 Could be worse but I think Joaquin will play their second team late.
  13. Mt. Ent. is not a large 1A School. their enrollment is 129 compaired to Deweyvilles 237 and W.Sabines 170. Mt. Ent. is picked by Tx . F. Magazine fifth in their district and they were 2/8 and 0/5 last year. hummmmm
  14. PN-G needs to draft Vince Young and then go to the spread. You have to have a illussive, fast, good passing QB to run the spread and be successful. Don't think PN-G has that talent. Hope I am wrong.
  15. Has anyone seen Hemphill's schedule. Wonder if they are playing Alto the first game again this year? Also heard today that San Augustine's QB transferred to another school so he could play baseball.
  16. OLDTIMER, you said it best. and, I'm for bringing the paddle back. When I was in high school the coaches kept it close by. They got my attention.
  17. Whats got into those coaches, thinking they know more about football then you all do.
  18. Very interesting. Today in the Beaumont Ent. the S.E. coaches picked WO/S to win the district. The TX. coaches poll picked WO/S in the top 15 in the state and Kirbyville was not in the top 15. S.E.Coaches poll also picked Jasper third in that district. Should get interesting before the year is over. Coaches poll also picked Newton and E.C. in the top 15 in the state. Gosh, you reckon the coaches think they know more about football than we do?
  19. Carthage had a good team last year but only beat Newton by 3 points at Carthage. Newton fumbled 4 times deep in Carthage territory. The game went down to the wire. Newton scrimmaged Kirbyville last year and Kirbyville won that scrimmage. I think Kirbyville will beat Carthage this year. Should be a good close game. Carthage come to Newton this year Sept. 28. Should be a good one also. Newton scrimmages Kirbyville Aug.18 at Kirbyville.
