Seems like Carthage run all over Gilmer, they knew every play that Gilmer was going to run. It had nothing to do with having better athletes.

Gilmer has 788 kids in High School, Newton has 285 kids. That may have a something to do with Gilmer winning.

You will find out just haw good your offense/defense is when you play a top ranked team like Carthage. Pulling for Lumberton but Carthage will walk all over L Train. We lost to a good Gilmer team which Carthage walked all over. Carthage is the standard for 4A-1 just as WO-S is the standard for 4A-2. However, wishing L Train the best.

I love to hear from people who get on the offensive coordinator, probably right, We have only won about 54 of the last 56 games. We are not complaining at Newton.

Newton wins by at least 35 points. Then it's on to Daingerfield.

It has nothing to do with the play calling. It is penalties, and turnovers. With 5 turnovers and numerous penalties, we still put up 52 points.

What happen was 5 turnovers , two T D'S called back, starting QB out, numerous penalties, our beast no.24, went out in the second quarter, our other starting end went out in the 3rd quarter. We failed on 4th and 1, two times deep in our opponents end of the field. But, we did overcome. The coaches are doing a good job, they teach the kids what to do, but it is up to them to get on the field and do it. Next we will take on Troup, then probably Daingerfield or Pewitt then probably E. Bernard, then on to state against Canadian.

Another site shows Newton to play El. Fields. Unknown to time and place but half way is around the Lufkin area.

Newton JV vs Memorial JV. Memorial did not score on Newton's JV. Newton's JV did not score on Memorial's JV. The game was cancelled.

C Camden beat Anderson Shiro by 3 touchdowns. Newton beat C Camden 62-0. That means this should be a close game. Newton had more TD"s then C Camden had first downs. Newton 54 Anderson Shiro 6. That is if they run the clock the 2nd half like they did with C Camden. If not then, 71 to 6 Newton.

It is these coaches that set the schedules which does not demand the athletes to get better.

When teams like C Camden and Anderson Shiro plays these weak schedules, it is not to build their team to be a state level team but to get enough wins to protect the coaches job. Anderson Shiro played a pre season schedule of 4 teams from 2A and a div. 4 Christian school and none of these teams were picked to win their 2A district. As long; as these school continue to play weak schedules, Newton will not have to worry about them. If you want to soar with Eagles.............................

CC has played four 2A schools in preseason. Winning two games and losing two games. They beat a weak Kville, New Waverly, and Kountze. They beat an undefeated A Shiro which had played a week schedule. This happens ever year with CC. Newton is not as good as last year and CC is a little better than last year. It will not be a run the clock second half but Newton will win by 4 TDs.

The state power rating has C Camden rated no. 510 in the state. Newton is rated no 93. This is all classifications 6A on down. The projected score from calprep is Newton 38 CC 7. That same rating had Anderson Shiro slightly ahead of CC.

Newton two years ago had a soph. Jv and Varsity . Last year we were down to a JV and Varsity. This year Newton has a JV and Var. Newton's JV is two sophomores and the rest 9 th graders. What would have been our JV are mostly on the Varsity in order to have enough to back up the varsity. Kountze cancelled the JV game last week because of injuries on the varsity JV's moving up to the varsity. Newton's schedule next year will include WO-S, Silsbee, Kirbyville and Woodville. They still have one slot to fill. Should be no problem next year filling the schedule as Newton will have a very young team
