That Van score is surprising
Van’s only was to T. chapel hill. They have a bye then play Carthage at Carthage.

Carthage 49. Rusk 21
Van 56. Center 36

Not trying to live in the past but IMO ……for all of his faults, Stewart would make a decent deep playoff run with this Dayton team.
First you have to make the playoffs.

Two weeks before snapshot day. You don’t know until next feb. what the cut off number will be or what districts will be.

I think Newtons numbers will keep them in 3A but Hemphill will more than likely move down. The number that I was given by an administrator at Hemphill was 249 and they stated that it was steadily decreasing.
I think the number turned in is on daily attendance for high school.

There is a saying which comes from the Great Book. You need to get the plank out of your own eye before you try to get the speck out of someone else’s eye.

Two people who might be kinfolk or personal friends doesn’t mean everyone. I believe she gets the bond passed and moves on to much more political life in education. Does she destroy morale and community involvement on her way out? Just my opinion through interactions with staff and others. Time will tell.

They will move down if they can. No one wants to be the smallest school in the classification
We are one of the smallest in our div. now.

For those on the bubble, it is just a guessing game until Feb.

Someone will have to correct me because I don’t know where to find this info, but this might be the first year ever that WOS lost two years in a row to three teams. Silsbee, HF, and PNG all have two-year runs going right now. That has to be a first, or one of the only times.

Not hard to run through district when theres absolutely NO ONE else in it.
UIL sets our district. Our pre district games are with WOS, Jasper, Anahuac, and Woodville, all larger playoff teams.

Who's fault is that?

Not difficult to do against a lesser opponent.
What do you mean by lesser opponent ?

Newton loaded with sophomores, freshman starting running back. Missing two games hurt us as we were lining up wrong on defense against WOS. Most of that has been corrected. Very weak district we are in does not help us for the playoffs. Anahuac was cancelled because of smoke and Jasper game was cancelled. Hemphill cancelled the JV and one jr. high team. We just need more games to develop our players. Hemphill and Newton’s high school enrollment is about the same.
you see what happened to a good kirbyville program several years ago and recently with a outstanding WOS program when the parents and school board got involved. Could the same be possible with Hemphill ?
