There is going to HAVE to be pain for someone somewhere.  My thoughts are we should give someone one year max of unemployment.  If it gets extended beyond that, reduce the benefit by 25%.  After another year, another 25% reduction. You effectively tell someone in advance that you are going to help them but not in a permanent manner.  It just might encourage the freeloaders to try to find work.

Some are just lazy, and some need a little help. Sorting through them is the problem. You want less government, but the people deciding who needs help verses who is just lazy don't have time to sort through them all. I had a renter who was just worthless. Hope she never receives aid again. Then again, I had a couple who worked very hard. They got off assistance after a year. Glad we as a nation, could help those people get a start on life.

Not much of a factor, in my opinion. As I noted, we have seen aggressvie behavior both when we had hawkish presidents and those considered dovish.  Now, do you honestly think Russia would really behave differently with regards to Crimea if Romney  or any other Republican candidate were in office? 

I had 2 kids go through BISD and I don't really have any major complaints about the education.  That said, I do pay A LOT of taxes to BISD.  I care because they could lower my taxes a little if they would quit wasting money.  If you live here, you should care.
 
 
 
And, if I am going to pay all these taxes, it better damn well go to the kids and teachers.

Ozens,  do you really want that board to stay in control, or are you just poking?   Who do you think should be held responsible for the millions that were lost?  I understand that crooks are always looking for a way to steal, but don't you think SOMEBODY should have noticed  when the theft hits 8 million?

Sounds like a done deal.  Now, what noticable change does anybody expect?   Some things will certainly get cleaned up, but does anybody believe this will affect the kids?  Life will go on, TEA will come and go, but I just don't see how, eventually, we won't end up in this same mess.   This community is just too divided to kiss and make up.  Sad.

Mixed thoughts.  I like the idea of forcing kids to learn better English.  It will help them in the long run.  That said,  I don't think Spanish should be completely banned on campus.  When they are talking to their friends, and not doing actual schoolwork, it is probably easier for them to communicate.

No.  It is not a concern.  The State AGs will do whatever they choose.  It is not some kind of command.  And frankly, they would probably be better off if they don't try to enforce what usually turns out to be some unconstitutional law.   JMO
