  1. That would fire WH up! Forget what is behind Oilers and use district to prove to people what you have in talent and desire.
  2. Teams will probably try to press WH and force Copeland to ball handle. I do think Hashaw will be improved and he was good last year. Some of the guys that will be playing guards will have to step and be able to help. Not be stars just protect and move the ball. WH will have support and Westfall will make sure they are giving it their very best. Good ball movement and execution of good game plans will keep them very competitive. Should be quick and good on D. Big as well for 1A. Copeland around 6'3"?, Hashaw looks allof 6'4", Laird 6'2"?. Good guesses I think. These three are strong and can move as well. Good luck after the football playoffs guys!
  3. Played HD. Only scored once I think, but D was good. They had the ball on HD's 8 yd line or so, but time ran out at the half.
  4. HD won the jv game 14-6 I think. Our young guys did show some improvement from what I heard. I didn't get to watch it all. We did have a INT or two and could have scored another time or two I think. JR. High looked real good. Some good 7th and 8th graders!
  5. True. WH played a jv game against HD Teusday and they cant play again in the same week. WH will probably work on plays and strategies to prepare for district. Backintheday had good posts calling it a preparation game. Again these games were scheduled for two years at a time and it possible that WH thought Kelly's jv would be a little tougher. It can still be a good game for both teams if they look at it the right way.
  6. WH has played a very respectable schedule for the last two years and this year is no exception. Groveton, Warren, Kountze, and Hardin. Obvious they are not looking for easy games. They scheduled this two years in advance because they were doing it two years at a time, I believe. Maybe the varsity wasn't available the first year and maybe they were. I think bbbk is making a bigger deal out of this than it really is. Look at the little schools other schools and the best colleges in the country play. Hardly anyone plays tough games every week of the year. I don't think a 3a JV vs a 1A vasity should be that big of a deal anyway. I promise you the WH coach was not looking for a weak schedule or a blow out game. Just let the kids play and if it is not good for Kelly they don't have to reschedule. Oilers, use the game to focus on district preparation. KJV, use to try to improve your skills and for experience. Hope all stay safe!
  7. Chester played well and deserve a lot of credit. I don't know the coach, but he has done a great job. Chester 24-12.
  8. Huntington is not doing to hot again this year. I like Back in the Day's post. Hunt. can't blow them out with a lot of scoring. I like WH 18-6 with their tough D and the O I believe will pick up in time. Good smashmouth game.
  9. If Chester keeps their attitudes right, they have an excellent shot to pick up another W. They have some size, some speed, and some grit. The fans seem to like this coach from what I hear, which makes a difference there. My pick, Chester 18-12. If Chester doesn't have their heads in it, HI by two touchdowns.
  10. Would you want to live in a country where Islam was the majority? Thank God I do not. I have never seen anyone forced to verbally pray, but I don't think it is to much to be silent in respect when prayer is happening in anyones presence. I just agree in the prayer voiced.
  11. If I am not mistaken, they schedule for two years at a time. They just switch the home field. I think that is why we have Groveton two years in a row to start. The guys can do it. Containment on defense will be key. Good luck all year guys!
  12. Good coaches being good coaches, I believe Foster from BS could coach anywhere. Great coach and man.
  13. I bet Lovie tries hard not to, along with Dungy. From all I have studied, Landry didn't and he got a few things done. I agree with warfan. The great ones can get it done without it. It presents a lack of character and professionalism in my opinion. If you can't control your mouth, you don't have much self control. If it is one slip here and there, I could deal with that, but it shouldn't be blatant and intentional. My opinion.
  14. Way to shed some light on this topic. What has it come to when we think that is what it takes to do our best at something? HMMMMMMMMMM?
  15. Yeah, I do remember hearing there names a lot over the speaker now that you mention it. I just couldn't call them all. There will probably be some surprises pop up out there this year as well.
  16. Oh yeah, forgot about the pure grit some of these guys have. If they keep the no quit attitude they had last year, they will be fine. Bordes and Tubbs will lead a hard nosed defense that will make a lot of guys Saturday mornings very sore. Many good players that aren't even being mentioned on the boards, but they will all show up I think. Have a good season guys!
  17. Get a receiver open for Tyler and it might be 50 yds and a cloud of dust. I know there are some guys to step up and an experienced coach to adjust things as they need to be.
  18. Cfan1 is right from what I have heard. They will try to play this season and take another look I would assume from year to year, but school numbers are way down. Indutries that always drew people and kept hometowners around have deminished and numbers are down over the past ten years. I wish they could play six man, but travel expenses might be a concern there. We'll see.
  19. Funny. Westfall has coached teams that have won their district. Both good coaches.
