Fat guy got a reaction from KF89 in Sulphur Springs…/Faircloth hired
Agreed - coaching can’t be ignored. But I think it’s short-sighted not to look at what Faircloth did with both eyes open and give credit where credit is due - PNG success, where we had it, under Faircloth, wasn’t guaranteed. Faircloth developed offensive talent on a year-to-year basis as well as or better than any coach in the area. And that kept us in games we should have lost. Would I like to see better defense? Yes. I also think we could be better. But there’s no guarantee a new coach is going to reach even what Faircloth did. But the one thing that’s certain is certain PNG fans are going to be toxic to the new guy and we’ll wonder in a few years why he left. They may as well start getting the for sale signs ready for the new guy. Sometimes PNG fans just don’t deserve a good coach. They don’t want a team, they want a club. Coach Thompson would have lasted five seconds at PNG because the first time he required an ounce of toughness from the kids he would lose the team. And no matter what Faircloth ever did, he was getting back-bit in every direction. I’m going to laugh my head off if Sulphur Springs win state under Faircloth. Not saying he will, but maybe he’s better than we gave him credit for? Best of luck to the new guy. I hope he likes listening to parents whine.

Roschon? What would we have done with Roschon if we had an “actual state championship-type coach” when he was playing? That’s seriously what you’re asking?

Roschon’s family moved out of Port Arthur ISD and into PN-GISD when RJ was still playing Pop Warner because Faircloth is one of the best QB coaches in Texas and RJ’s dad knew Faircloth could develop RJ’s talent. I remember that - I went to school with RJ’s older brother after they made the move. If Faircloth hadn’t been at PN-G, Roschon never would have played a down at PN-G.
So what would we have done with Roschon if we had a true, blue, smitty-certified, state championship-caliber head coach? The answer is, not damn thing. The fact that RJ played for PN-G at all is yet another reason we were so lucky to have Faircloth.
You’ve hated Faircloth since the day the man hired on. You didn’t know the first thing about PN-G then, and you still don’t now. Go back to worrying about Nederland ISD’s bonds.

Pretty sure the helmets in the 70s and  in 99 were hard. I know it been decades, but just saying - it’s happened before.

PN-G just played 3 rounds.   They don’t have the most talent, and never have.
PN-G has always played above their talent level and beat teams they have no business beating.   Faircloth got the most out of his kids and teams, IMO.

While he was there, PN-G had a prolific offense, something there weren’t accustomed to on a yearly basis, and that was all due to Faircloth.   He had a great offensive mine.

His team’s weakness was always defense.   He could never find someone to lead a decent defense and I assume that’s people “gripe” about him.

Good luck finding someone to put up the points he put up year after year, and then getting them to play defense like a WO-S or Carthage, with the talent level they have.

IDK why anyone would want to coach at PNG following the treatment of Faircloth. Peeveys not going anywhere. Now Alvarez is viable option for PNG but he probably wouldnt want that

Interesting. What is peevey making at LCM and Faircloth at PNG?

PNG has more money than LCM so I don’t think they would mind matching and more to get him to jump on board. All across the board PNG is better than LCM with facilities, athletics, booster club and etc.

Makes sense. BF was the person Riordan called to ask about the Crosby job when he was coming from Sulphur Springs. I’m sure Riordan was the first person BF called and probably got recommended by Riordan seeing as how that job would’ve been his for the taking.

I figure if the Superintendent could call me out by name to Admin, he surely Would be able to comment to the public. Last I looked these are not lifetime political positions. Starting from the top. Tax payer money??? I’m all ears. I stand by what I said 100%… And I think the kids have spoken. So to all the school board members and Admin, the ball is now in their court. Everyone has a voice. It’s called a democracy. For anyone who doubted my original post, you can quit now. I was 100% on target using a source that leaked the news from their own camp. Maybe in the future the board will be able to shed some light on the situation. But in the end, it’s all about votes. So 8500 season ticket holders will have a voice on all new elections. Do the right thing is all the kids asked. Makes sense to me….

I’m not surprised that LH won, but I am surprised of the Crosby execution of the plays the last two weeks. All of the false starts committed by just about every lineman were killers and hard to make sense of. The depth at the skill positions are very shallow to and shouldn’t be with all of the blow outs Crosby had they should be deeper allowing playing time for the 2nd stringers. Anywho still a great season for the Coogs it just sucks to go out like that.

Man something was off and that game last week was physical, it was on one side of the ball though.  Defense played well enough to win, but the better team last night won for sure.  It’ll be interesting to watch next weeks matchup.

I think the guy they have at the helm is a winner, with the talent pool where it was this year to get to the 3rd round was very successful.

I only know one member of the school board personally : Jake Lefort. He’s a former star player for PNG, and a former PNG coach (coached me). I think his son is on the team now. My opinion of him is through the roof.
