I didn’t know Nederland’s starters are hurt. That’s tough.

Nederland should take this one. WF has shown pretty decent defense, but has very little offensive power. Nederland, for all its offensive miscues, has the superpower of unpredictable and even accidental offensive explosiveness. This won’t be a blowout, and West Fork will find some offense. I’m thinking 28-20 Nederland.

I’m sure they’re ecstatic

Do you know how to add a poll? It’s as easy as making a new topic. You just select the “poll” option when you make the topic.

Huntsville wins a high-scoring game, 52-31. Hville will struggle with MG’s inside run game, but MG will have no answer for the Hornet’s outside run.

I can’t see PNG losing this one, but might as well discuss. Hoping a lot of the starters get to rest. PNG came out banged up against Huntsville. And, a good chance to cultivate depth in the twos and threes.

The issue with this play isn't the handoff. It's that Dayton fumbled and advanced their own fumble. Nederland was allowed to do the same thing on a play that resulted in a first down and led to a scoring drive. My understanding is the team with possession is not allowed to advance their own fumble. The ball is dead where it was recovered. The refs allowed it from both teams, and it gave both teams points. But this one resulted in the game winner so it was a bigger mistake.

That’s an interesting matchup. Lake Creek’s offense isn’t anything special, but they can put up points against a defense like Dayton’s. This one might break 60 points.

Huntsville (29) @ Port Neches-Groves (39) - FINAL

Yeah I’m thinking of the wrong name. It was #99 -
I predicted Ned’s O wouldn’t keep up with Dayton. Boy, was I wrong.

Huntsville is scary fast, and their outside run is lethal. I don’t think they lose the rest of the regular season. Montgomery is the only one I’m still iffy about versus Huntsville

Montgomery Lake Creek (31) @ Montgomery (42) - FINAL

There at least seems to be a solid top 3 (PNG, Montgomery, Huntsville, in no predictive order). All of that can change, of course. District is still wide open. But I wouldn’t think you were crazy to predict those three are among the playoff teams. The four spot is mushy and a lot can happen. Dayton beat Ned, but not in a way that makes me confident for Dayton against anyone but Splendora. I wouldn’t be surprised by West Fork, LC, Nederland, or Dayton in the playoffs. With an edge to Dayton, none of that group seems obviously better than the others (and any of them can beat any of the top 3). Splendora’s the only one I’m confident ruling out. -

Good game Huntsvillle — The Hornets are much better than last year. Going to be very dangerous in the playoffs. I’m really concerned about Cash Barnwell - That injury looks bad. Hopefully it’s not something that can’t get better with rest. Tyson Henry needs to sit out against Splendora too. -

On rewatch it was probably a good non-call. It was just for a second and that guy probably wouldn’t have made the tackle anyway -

We’re covering the edge about as well as anyone can. we need to stop expecting the pass game to bail us out. We’re running it fine. The passing choices are terrible. Both in the timing and the actual targets - Why are we throwing to double or quadruple coverage? Huntsville is only asking their qb to throw passes he can complete. We’re asking Bailey to do magic. First drive was wasted on stubbornly throwing it when we could have just pounded it for another first down on the ground. -
The Bears are taking this one. LC’s defense isn’t good, and LC’s offense is one-dimensional, and ineffective in that dimension. I think it’s going to be a long season for the Lions.

On paper, PNG's the better team and I think we'll prove it on the field. But, this is a dangerous game against a dangerous team. Huntsville's better than their record. They're faster than anyone PNG's played all season. La Porte tried to run right through us. Huntsville gets most of their yards around the edge. They're really, really quick doing it. They have four or five guys who've hit 20 mph in practice. I'm confident in our run defense, but this is a different challenge than La Porte. Not saying Huntsville's better than La Porte (Sean Simon just singlehandedly beat Kingwood Park) -- But, it's a different speed and a different approach. If we don't handle it, the Hornets are going to punish us. We'll move the ball. I'm not impressed with the Huntsville secondary, and the tackling hasn't been up to the Coach Southern standard. It's going to come down to the defenses, and turnovers. I'm going to go with PNG 35-24.

La Porte is giving up on the run too soon. They pass it as soon as Simon gets stuffed. -

This one’s interesting. It comes down to whether Nederland can move the ball enough to keep up with Dayton’s offense. Dayton’s offense is fast, executing well, and capable of scoring in bunches. They’re going to score on Nederland, and I think they’ll score a lot. Nederland’s offense showed improvement against Splendora, and while I think everyone would agree Splendora’s not representative of anyone else in the district, I’m also going to give Nederland the benefit of the doubt that the offense is steadily improving at some rate greater than zero. Dayton’s defense doesn’t seem to be doing anything special, but they’ve mostly played pretty well. I think it’s a mismatch. Nederland won’t be able to stop Dayton for four quarters, and I don’t think Nederland’s offense can keep up. I’m going to go with Dayton, 42-17.
