  1. This has turned into batting practice for Bailey and WRs. Hope the reps are helpful down the road.
  2. Their offense has absolutely nothing they can do
  3. I don’t know why they keep going deep. Just get four yards. We don’t need to hit home runs.
  4. Yeah I guess - LWC is a freaking superhero though.
  5. It’s going to be ridiculous if Iowa Colony drops in the rankings.
  6. LWC is inhuman. Everyone outside of region 3 is glad they can only face one of these teams. These teams are stacked. Game of the year in the 5ad2 regular season happening right now
  7. Looking at the hudl highlights for LC, the QB is pretty fast when he gets a head of steam. RB is isn’t fast but he’s stocky and strong and keeps his legs moving. He’s certainly not a Sean Simon or Micah Rhodes. A power run team, and the o-line opens up some holes. WR #80 has some wheels on kickoff return. Other than #80 and the qb, not a lot of speed. The tackling isn’t anything special and the secondary is still figuring out where to be. O-line is good. D-line is undersized. Offense not nearly as explosive as the last three years. Qb can be accurate with the deep ball so our secondary will get tested, especially if I’m right that they won’t be able to run the ball against us.
  8. That seems conservative. I think Crawford wins by three scores.
  9. LP’s defense had question marks this time last year, and they went undefeated from week 4 to the quarterfinals. And I don’t think many teams will have an answer for the Simon and Ruffin 1-2 punch. LP wins by 14.
  10. PNG moving up was more because Brenham moved down. They were one play away from losing to a bad Killeen team last week.
  11. 6. BU has to be able to run the ball on 3rd down. If PAM gets BU in a lot of “must throw” situations, PAM will get a lot of interceptions.
  12. LCM by 14
  13. Lufkin/BH will be the best game, and the history re: the Lufkin coach gives some added flavor Carthage would be fun to see, but it will be 60+ win and over by the first quarter
  14. The most interesting matchup in 8-5aD2 this week. My gut says Montgomery but this one feels like a 50-50.
  15. Nederland 21-7.
  16. I'd love to see some game film from Lake Creek but I haven't seen anything on youtube or TexanLive. I don't get the impression they're very deep, or doing anything special on defense. They return everyone from last year' o-line. New qb, new RB. Lake Creek likes to go fast, coach says he tries to have about 80 offensive snaps a game. I think they'll try to win it in the air. PNG's secondary will get tested. This one will be lower scoring than last year. I'm thinking PNG 35-17.
  17. I’m not confident West Fork won’t finish higher than Nederland. Ned only has four TDs all season, and the competition will only get worse.
  18. I don’t know if you could find a single WOS fan on this forum who is happy with the direction of the WOS program
  19. Huntsville definitely hasn’t been playing slouches, especially the first and third game. I wish I could get hold of some film from the Montgomery schools.
  20. For PNG, I’d like to see the O-line continue to gel in the run game. La Porte was a big leap forward in how we moved the ball on the ground. I was worried we’d get stuffed all four quarters. The secondary needs work, of course, but it’s much better than last year and the open-field tackling has been back to 2022-2023 form. I hope the state ranking and the big win over La Porte don’t cloud our vision. It’s a tough district, and preseason records don’t tell us everything about how a season will go. I haven’t seen much of Dayton, and nothing from the two Montgomery schools. I think Lake Creek is down from last year. We’ll find out next week. Just going off game results (and Dayton’s first game, which I was able to watch) Dayton and Montgomery are looking good. Huntsville has some issues, especially tackling and the blocking has been spotty, but they’re fast and big and if they tighten up they should be solid. Nederland has to figure out some offense. Until we see if that happens, it’s hard not to wonder what will happen against district opponents. West Fork looks fundamentally sound - I think they’ll surprise some people. Splendora is Splendora.
  21. You don’t have to call him a “starter” - The idea is Joseph is willing to use his tools on both sides of the ball when needed.
  22. With no games this week, I figured we could chat about the district as a whole, how things are going, what needs to improve, etc.
  23. Even the situational use is more than we did under the last coach. Reid Richard barely came off the field in the playoffs during the 2023 season. And, when there is situational use, it’s clear the player has been trained well even in their temporary role.
  24. I agree that larger enrollment gives an advantage, but WOS used to negate that advantage with discipline, conditioning, and coaching. Pick any year before 2022 and no one would ever think, “WOS is going to lose to PNG because they’re so much smaller.” WOS is less than half the size of PNG. Smaller than Nederland, Silsbee, Vidor, LCM, Lumberton, Bridge City, - probably everyone outside of the small rural schools. For decades, none of that has mattered. Now smaller enrollment IS a factor. Five local teams have or have had two-game win streaks against WOS since 2021: PNG: 2 (2022, 2023, haven’t played since) Nederland: 2 and counting (2024-present) HF: 3 and counting (2022-present) Silsbee: 2 (2022-2023) Jasper: 2 (2022-2023) I’m confident there’s never been another era of WOS history where FIVE local teams enjoyed multiple wins in a row against WOS within the same 3-4 season period.
