This begs the question. Do you miss the old Beaumont High Purples and South Park Greenies ? Beaumont, South Park and TJ had rivalries going back to 1909.

Dallas Lincoln?  That's kind of random.  Tell me more.

La Marque's morale is down but they handled Worthing the two times they played... I'd be very surprised if H-J came close to beating them.  LM should be able to get to the 2nd round where they'd meet Caldwell, or Giddings if Caldwell pulls off the upset this week. I predict a WOS gauntlet through District 11 after Scarborough.  La Grange, Caldwell and Giddings to get to the Semis. I hope I'm wrong.  That's a rough road.  I think H-F and OF both have a chance against Bellville, whichever one gets there.

I know it doesnt compare to WOS but I counted up PNG's just because of the interest brought up by reading this. PNG is at 187 shutouts....

There seems to be multiple numbers thrown out there on where we actually are.  I have us at 99 with a very likely 100 coming up against Scarborough.  Please correct me if you see any wrong numbers. So far I count 99 shutouts in 457 total games played which is 21.66% of all games played being shutout wins.

Goblin got a reaction from ladybug33 in when will we know where wo-s will be playing
Scarborough hasn't actually "clinched" the 4th playoff spot. They play Kashmere today at 6pm and if by some chance they beat Kashmere then it would be WOS vs Kashmere. That's very unlikely to happen but stranger things have occurred.  I know the LaGrange folk are already preparing for a rematch with WOS in round 2 over on another site. Play nice guys as some of you are already riling them up and that game is 3 weeks away if it even occurs lol.

They rescheduled for 2pm today. 14-14 currently. Navarro has only allowed 40 points total coming into this game. They've got their eyes set on WOS for a semifinal matchup. They might be in a little over their heads given how they've already pissed off Sinton and that entire district calling them overrated. That's the easiest was to get a target on your back.

WOS is looking good.  Only 2 opponents we've played so far currently have losing records.
    LCM 3-6
    PNG 6-2
    Jasper 5-3
    Silsbee 6-2
    Richmond Foster 6-2
    Newton 4-4
    Liberty 3-5
    Orangefield 5-4
    Hamshire-Fannett 5-3

WOS also wins their 33rd consecutive district game breaking the tie with the 32 game streak we had from 2003-2008.  The longest streak though was 37 from 1986-1992 although it's less than that if you factor in the forfeited games from 1992.

I just hope we don't get complacent given we pretty much have an automatic 2nd round spot waiting for us 4 weeks from now against LaGrange or Wharton.

WOS missed the playoffs in 2001, 2002 and 2003 as one of the smallest 4A schools in the state.  Both 2002 and 2003 going 8-2 and losing out in a 3-way tie for 1st.
The streaks we have that are rather impressive is not having had a losing season since 1983 and winning 64 out of our past 65 district games.  We won 32 in a row from 2003-2008, lost 1 to Silsbee, and as of this week have yet another 32 game district winning streak going.
We've also gone 143 consecutive games without being shutout dating back to a 0-17 loss to Bay City in 2004.

Districts 9, 10 and 12 are ALMOST set in stone except for the Orangefield vs Hamshire-Fannett game or barring a HUGE upset. Wharton losing to Bellville and LaGrange losing to Caldwell tonight threw a huge monkey wrench into things pretty much guaranteeing Wharton will finish 2nd in D12.  LaGrange could still get the top seed in D11 if they win over Giddings by enough points and Giddings beats Caldwell.  Liberty, Brookshire and Salado once again appear to be the three teams that won't make the big show although I wouldn't put it past Liberty to give Hardin-Jefferson a run for their money in that game.  District 11 could end up with LG, Giddings and Caldwell at any of 1, 2 or 3 and Smithville is a shoe-in for 4th.  No matter what the outcome Wharton just landed in probably the most difficult slot in the bracket by losing tonight and WOS will have their hands full no matter who they end up against in Round 2 (again barring a HUGE upset).

Goblin got a reaction from studd88 in 4A Region III Division 2 District Standings and playoff predictions after Week 8

Goblin got a reaction from skipper in Enrollment numbers
Abilene Wylie has a LONG history of their enrollment numbers just BARELY being below the 4A/3A cutoff number (now 5A/4A) with conspiracy theorists saying it's due to their coach of 35+ years Hugh Sandifer having close ties with the UIL and having a lot of input into realignments as president of the THSCA. Highland Park  the same one classification up but more because of all the money in that district. Money talks. This was the first realignment since the 1970's or early 80's I think that Highland Park was put in the largest classification. They're usually one or two students below the cutoff. That's what he meant.

And WOS won't be dropping anytime soon if ever unless the city of Orange gets destroyed by another hurricane. We'd be much larger than we are if it weren't for the two punch of Rita then Ike.

Goblin got a reaction from Mr. Buddy Garrity in Enrollment numbers
Cy-Fair already has 10 6A high school programs with more to open shortly which will require either a return to the old Zone system or dividing them up between two districts.  It only makes sense to move Cy-Fair to Region II (which they've been in in the past) with more DFW teams moving to Region I.  If Fort Bend and Pearland continue to grow like they have been then they will eventually have to spread into Region IV.  I see no reason why Katy would move out of Region III.
