Extra motivation eh, so I guess Giddings will have to get that extra strength arse whooping. I feel sorry for 4a playoffs lol they have to know it's over when WOS pops in as the next opponent. Here's to a good game for you guys and good luck on the run

And this tete de tete about a sweep during the first round of the playoffs is kinda what kronos is talking about.  Say that Broncos94 is right and all of the All Pro athletes that are mired in the sub varsity ranks come out and shine like the stars that apparently everyone should believe they are and they sweep 22-5A in bi-district.  So what?  Only to be sent to the basketball courts the very next week as has been the recent experience?
While many have here disagreed with what he said and I too have my disagreements with some of his statements, most of the responses have borne out what he has claimed.
Now, where I have the major disagreement is the role of the coaches in this "failure" to reach beyond the second or third round.  The coach is but a very small component in that he sometimes has to battle his own school administration for control of the team or even worse, parents who might hold a little higher opinion of Little Johnny's skills than is warranted.  There is only so much that the coach can do, he can't force kids to workout on their own in off season and he can't help it when he doesn't have the support of his administration or even the community at large.  And finally, he can't help it when the team that he faces, much as we all hate to admit it, is simply better than our beloved team.  There are simply some situations where the other side has the horses that you don't and even Vince Lombardi being on the sideline instead of Ken Harrison, Brandon Faircloth, Larry Neumann, Jeff Mathews, or Toby Foreman.
Pretty much every bit of the community needs to be in lock step and at the very least, let the coach coach his team.  That is what you have by and large with the teams in this area that do succeed.  Cornel Thompson is the boss at West Orange-Stark.....W.T. Johnston is the boss in Newton.  I know you believe it is because of the "boo-boo" opponents as I have long been witness to the notion in existing in parts of Jefferson County that quality football is played only at 5A and above.  And it is buying into notions like that which paint you as much of the problem as being the bearer of the solutions.  I don't subscribe to the notion that it takes a village to raise a child, but it sure does take one to win a state championship.

When you get to the fifth stage of acceptance please join the community and continue rooting for North Shore, WOS and Newton. (Not using the Oxford comma in there... refuse to do it.)

Silsbee and BC played Carthage and Stafford to the wire. Remind me what the WOS vs Silsbee/BC scores were.
Gilmer lost to Carthage. La Vega beat Lorena by 1 point more than Liberty. 12-4A D2 did quite well this year.

I think Bellville realizes what we have to go up against Friday. Play hard and hope the Ball bounces funny quite a few times lol I'm actually glad I finally get to watch WOS in person. I'm sure they won't disappoint.

LOL.  One game a rivalry does not make.  Just ask Jasper about that whole winning the first game thing and how that turned out for them against WOS.

I think Liberty absolutely played to win.  Perhaps he should of jumped into the spread in the 4th quarter and see what happened.   They have moved the ball well out of the spread, but it was mostly by running.  Sorry, but trying to run draws out of the spread against WO-S is stupidity.  Smart coach, good game plan.  Outmatched, but the Panthers played well on both sides of the ball.   WO-S speed was very impressive, and I am so glad I finally got to see Jack Dallas in person.     He made some beautifult passes, and his athleticism is top notch.

The pass to Shaw was about as pretty as you will see at the high school level.

Also, I think that freshman scatback from Liberty was impressive.  Good little motor.

Question:.  Why doesn't WO-S just go for 2 everytime?    Shutting people out it doesn't but the likelihood of a shooting in the semis or finals is very possible.  Those points matter.

Some act like they are mad WOS only scored 32. I find that comical, but I also see similarities to Gilmer in 2014. We had the second highest point total in a season that year, and everyone complained when we didn't win by 50+. It almost caught up with us in the last game against y'all. Sometimes it's good to get hit in the mouth just a little. Makes you better in the long run.

Last time yall made the playoffs, we had some common opponents.
    2014
    Henderson 48, Silsbee 22
    WO-S 35, Silsbee 0
    Henderson 60, Jasper 43
    WO-S 34, Jasper 7

I'm sure there are some DI teams that COULD beat WOS.  But we KNOW there are some DI teams that have beat Henderson.  Reading this guys posts makes me feel like I am trying to make sense of what Charlie Brown's teacher is saying. Like TD has said....we only have to worry about DII and the opponents the UIL grouped in DII.

I'll be honest.. Liberty definitely had a good enough team to win this game.  In all honesty, they probably should've won the game.  Let me run some reasons by you that may have contributed to the close game and eventual loss.
Last week Liberty joined WOS in a ranking of some kind...which is most definitely a first for these Liberty kids.  Then...a buddy of mine told me that Liberty's town "fair" was last week and that the kids didn't even go to school half of the week.  In which case several of the kids most definitely slept in every day they were out...and probably stayed up late.  Then I see this guy coming on this site and talking about the Liberty/WOS game... I'm not saying that all of the kids were overlooking HJ.  I'm not saying the coaches were overlooking HJ.  But...somebody was.  And if one person was, chances are there were a few more.
That is a lot of distractions for a bunch of 17 year old kids.  And to be honest...that's why I picked HJ to win in my pickems.  Not that I'm the guru of predicting high school football games.  But my reasons panned out in this instance.

Apparently Gladewater would win your district too even though they didn't make it out of bi-district last year. Lucky for you they play in D2.

Henderwhat? Sorry, but your team is irrelevant - both this year and historically. You can troll all you want, but at the end of the day, you'll still be Henderson. Your one state title - with the easier five playoff game route - is drowned out by the ocean of mediocre and losing seasons. And what's that up ahead? Years and years of the same dull, forgettable, underwhelming teams for you to get bored with. Go Loins!

So they have missed the playoffs an average of one out of every three years since 2010.  Pretty sad.  Think you need to worry more about Henderson than WO-S and leave the SETX discussion to the adults, boy.

Here's a little something for you Lion.  You guys beat Tatum (45-13) by close to the same margin as Jasper did last Friday (41-17).  This is the same Jasper team that lost to HJ (30-22) a few weeks ago.  The same HJ team that lost 62-0 to WOS a week ago.  Stay in your lane (namely East Texas) and be thankful you don't have to play the Stangs this year.

This is one of those smoaky smart arses. Please, take your silly east Texas superiority complex back to that site. If you want to have an adult conversation here, try again. WO-S fans don't care if you're not impressed. We could win 50 state titles in a row and you would still bring up some ridiculous point like playing Scarborough in the first round. Either find a little maturity and sensible perspective or go back to playing with your crayons at the smoaky daycare center.

Oh... just realized we have a troll on our hands. That's cute!  We can compare with the Gilmer and Carthages out there easily. In the past 5 seasons we've won just as many titles as both of them, have played in the same number of state finals as both of them and pretty much the only stat either has us beat in is a single head-to-head game with both. Gilmer is 61-7 since 2012, WOS is 60-7.
WOS hasn't lost before the Quarterfinals since 2010 so we've done pretty well outside of our apparently horrendous neck of the woods.
And if you wanna go back further than 5 years try me >;-). I was being kind keeping it to 5.
Remind me how   Henderson was doing before dropping down a class or actually, remind me how they did last year?
Also.. I do recall an area playoff game back in 1995?? WOS beat a certain Henderson that game. Was it the same Henderson?
