  1. Got to give it to them, PG was as good as advertised. Could not get them off the field on 3rd down and couldn't convert one. WO-S does an excellent job slowing down the run in the Wing-T. But they have been prone to giving up big plays, and this team was too good to spot them 14. I know it's near blasphemy to question the WO-S staff, but I could have told you they were going to run that slot receiver pass over the top on the 1st play. They love that play from the highlights I've seen. This was probably not the game for 11 in the box to stop the run (i.e. Liberty) but should have been about keeping assignments. You should pick up that guy running past you, grab him if you have to lol. And not to whine about penalties, but if you're gonna call that takedown block by our center a hold, then you have to call it on their RT hooking our guy on that last 3rd down pass by PG when it was 28-21. But that's not why WO-S lost. PG deserved it. Great year Stangs. Come back and get after 'em next year.
  2. Based on what I'm reading on Smoaky, PG is in for a spectacular crow eating session if they don't win tomorrow. I mean they run the greatest wing-T ever AND throw it like 8 times a game. How will WO-S ever defend that?
  3. I'll take the Stangs 31-14. If WO-S can limit PG from getting loose on big runs, this game could get 2016 Navarro-ish
  4. Running the clock down was the best defensive play all night
  5. I'm still very confused by all the people predicting a competitive game or even a straight up win by Liberty. A wing/slot team catching WO-S after a lackluster performance with a bye week in between? Forget it. Liberty got their moral victory scoring on the 1st possession last year.
  6. Springer's line, Games 2-7: .440 / .533 / 1.160 5 HR, 7 RBI, 29 total bases. What a series
  7. Really. Are we really doing this with Liberty now too?
  8. And their bullpen is completely out of gas after the last 2 games. Have to take care of business tonight with Kershaw pitching tomorrow to send the series back to LA
  9. I'm interested to know what Hinch has ever seen from Giles that makes him think he can get a 6-out save. Edit: Not a save situation when he came in, but a hold longer than an inning
  10. Marisnick is out for the season and not on the WS roster. The problem is the Astros never developed this spot. Springer was a nice boost when they moved him back there last year. Maybe they were hoping Aoki could have been this or been a secondary leadoff guy at the bottom of the order. I always thought Bregman could make a nice long-term solution now that he has developed as a hitter. He works counts and steals bases. I know he did for a while in Triple A and maybe some in college? Altuve would be the guy if he wasn't the best bat. Doesn't matter, this is who they are. They don't play situational, station-to-station baseball. They hit a bunch of fastballs for 2Bs and HRs. And are still susceptible to good pitching. Altuve had a nice AB off Kershaw and Correa followed him by bouncing the first pitch into what should have been a double play. Smh Put somebody else in the top spot, then whoever is behind him will probably swing at junk. Anyway, I think our bats could do some damage to the Dodgers bullpen (as good as they've been). With the exception of Jansen, all those guys were borderline starters or low-level closers to start this season. Gotta chase their starters first though. Tonight could be the series, knowing they have Darvish and Kershaw (again) lurking ahead.
  11. Cleveland over-managed themselves right out of the playoffs. Bauer starts twice and Carrasco once? That may be a fireable offense. Hopefully Hinch learned his lesson from the ALDS. I'll say Stros in 6 as well, would be nice if Judge and Sanchez bats stayed quiet.
  12. Yeah we should have pooched it down in their end. That could have lost the game. We got lucky with that penalty. That's a long kick even for the pros!
  13. WOS attempted a 44 yard FG with under 2 min left and had it blocked. Kennedale returned it to midfield but an unsportsmanlike conduct was called on the Kennedale bench
  14. The Mustang defense has still only given up one sustained drive for a TD. That would be considered pretty good in any year not following last year. I think all of Kennedale's late scores were either set up or scored on plays of 50 yards or more. I actually like our chances more if they're stringing together time-consuming drives. But nothing more frustrating than to let a run on you AND get big plays.
  15. Late to the game on this, but I probably wasted an entire days worth of "likes" on this thread. The Stros must have been stealing a bunch of signs in that last series lol. On to the playoffs...
  16. He's a baller! Just watching as a fan, I would have thought he has been kicking for years if I didn't know better lol. He's just cool as can be, running up and drilling 'em. He's made them so routine that I almost forgot to pay attention to our extra points the last 2 games. Not to mention, his FG was from the right hash, not straight away, and he had 2 touchbacks I believe! Amazing! Basically Chad Dallas was one of the differences in WO-S winning the state championship. Shout out to KJ also for pinning them all the way back at the 1-yard line at a critical point in the game. Just a complete team effort yesterday.
  17. Dang! I just looked up that season. They had 3 games where they scored 80+ points and nine games over 60.
  18. This may be blasphemy to some, but my vote is for the 2016 Mustangs being the best to lace 'em up at WO-S. First 16-0 team in school history and outscoring opponents 762-69 (59 offensive pts) is insane. That has to be one of the highest scoring differentials ever? It's impossible to compare eras, but this defense just faced two wildly different offenses in Navarro and Sweetwater, both averaging over 45 ppg and held them both to one collective offensive touchdown. Don't want to forget about some of WO-S better teams who just ended up running into programs having "all-time" type seasons: 1985, 1995, 1997, 2005, 2012 teams probably deserve mention as well. My dad used to say that what made the 80s teams so dangerous was that they could win games with offense, defense or special teams...well, this team could score on any play from anywhere on the field in every phase of the game.
