  1. And Navarro converted six 4th down opportunities! That's kind of amazing, we can't allow that to happen. They actually only scored three offensive possessions and their longest run was 14 yards but Cuero just couldn't get them off the field. Add in the pick 6 and a kickoff return for a score and that was the difference.
  2. I'm not knocking the Slot-T because every team has to run an offense that best suits their athletes. But I disagree with categorizing teams that run a variance of this offense alongside all run-based offenses. Because if Slot teams could line up and run right at you from the I-formation, then they would.
  3. A couple of things: I'm interested in seeing how Navarro will react being "under the lights" for the first time- playing in NRG against the defending champs, first trip to the state semifinal... We saw what happened the last 2 weeks when WO-S got off to a "slow" start, I'd hate to see what a fast start looks like. Don't want to get caught watching. That being said, I don't think WO-S has ever cruised through this round. It's always a dogfight at this point, no matter the opponent. Sinton's QB could throw it all over the field, Cuero's QB had maybe the best individual performance I've ever seen against a WO-S defense despite getting knocked out of the game (twice, I think). It may take another performance like that for Navarro. How many Slot-T teams does WO-S have to beat to prove that they can stop it? Lol. Every time we face one, this topic is brought up as a threat. Maybe it was two years ago, but I think it's safe to say they've figured it out.
  4. Although I will say there are a few fans who go a little far with the "WO-S could win 5A" nonsense. While I'm appreciative that WO-S does still beat 5A teams regularly, I think some fans may be remembering the old 4A days, not recognizing that beating schools 3x our size isn't the norm. Anyway, I'll take another shot at the 4A D2 title over any of those hypothetical scenarios.
  5. Oh come on now, I seem to remember everyone (including here) proclaiming 2014 Gilmer to be God's gift to football. And they pretty much were! But, the consensus was basically that WOS shouldn't bother showing up for that game. So for 2016 WOS fans to be seen as over the top is pretty funny!
  6. What would Henderson know about repeating? You've never repeated the feat of getting past the 3rd round of the playoffs more than once in your history.
  7. Apparently Gladewater would win your district too even though they didn't make it out of bi-district last year. Lucky for you they play in D2.
  8. Didn't 9-4A champion Kilgore already lose to DII Gladewater? Lol. But you're right, Henderson missing the playoffs 2 of the last 3 years is much more impressive than winning a state championship.
  9. I don't know, but probably more than Henderson played in the playoffs last year.
  10. And by the way, there are some earlier posts equating this act to contact occurring during sporting events (football, boxing, etc.), and while there is assumed risk involved when playing a sport, that is not the same as having someone purposely stomp on the back of your ankle. Pretending to not know the difference is giving this kid an excuse.
  11. Are people really defending this? Other than this not being directed by a coach, there is not much difference between this action and the San Antonio kids who blindsided the ref last year. In both cases, you're physically harming a defenseless individual outside of the allowable parameters of the game. Sorry, but even 'mistakes' have consequences.
  12. That's a shame. I remember when he went out of the SC game and some people suddenly decided that he was the second coming of Peyton Manning, even though he wasn't even mentioned before the game.
  13. That's exactly my point. Seems like a good place to start.
  14. That's putting a lot of faith in a group of elected officials, whether it be the federal government or the local school board. The only difference being that it's pretty easy to voice complaints directly to the WOCCISD.
  15. I mean.. another thread about this? Didn't money for both signs come from donations?
  16. The Rangers run differential through the regular season and playoffs is now -2. The other division champions averaged +155. This was a tough draw with Toronto's rotation and right-handed heavy lineup.
  17. Yeah... Well, I mean other than getting down 38-0 and losing by 4 scores.
  18. Just to clarify something that happened in the game: You can protest a call that WASN'T made, after the play is over? I can't say that I've ever seen that happen before. I believe that's what happened on one of the WO-S scores called back due to a receiver pick on the play, according to the KOGT broadcast.
  19. Their current 7th grade team would have been just as effective.
  20. WO-S beating BC in every single phase of the game just because they can.
