They’d leave to come watch this I promise you.

With all due respect..... Newton would get their feelings hurt.
Every few years Newton goes on a rip and dominates the minor leagues and forgets that they're still Newton. You can hang with a lot of the middle of the road bigger schools, but it doesn't mean you can step up and hang with the elite big schools. Carthage would have put 40 on Newton this year.

You can't sit around and turn down that game until you think you can win it. Those games should be played every year not just the year Newton is confident they should win.

CardinalBacker got a reaction from BlueOwl in NEW UIL FOOTBALL DISTRICTS
I agree... anything less than domination by Lumberton will be seen as a letdown. Splendora always seems to underperform for their size, Livingston is either going to be champs or miss the playoffs... lots of inconsistency up there... but you know that. I'm anxious to see if Dubois can get BC back on track after a disastrous 2017 season.
All jokes aside, I predict fantastic band performances and lackluster football to be the main characteristics of this district.

Yeah.... I think we'll still be competitive. No easy wins for us, though.

I think we'll claim the Worst Luck of the Draw for 2018 Award.

Huffman Hargrave (1075)
Little Cypress-Mauriceville (1009)
Livingston (1078.5)

LC-M has quite a few black kids, if that's an important piece of information...
-

Well, for starters there aren't any black kids in the district, other than the ones in Livingston.
Seriously. Whose bright idea was this?

CardinalBacker reacted to Alpha Wolf in NEW UIL FOOTBALL DISTRICTS
Well I almost thought this was a inappropriate comment at first but after looking at the district, its not. Carry on...
Lumberton wins that district at least for the 1st year. The L-Train is back...

Huffman and LC-M will be very competitive. Well, LC-M loses Winters, the star RB and I believe Huffman has a new coach (i may be wrong) . Y'all should be good to win the district though.

While most of us recognize the value of choosing to play a good program like Newton in the buildup to district play, not everybody feels that way.
If you are a coach with big aspirations of moving on in your coaching career, it’s hard to do much with a bad winning percentage. Locking yourself into 2-3 guaranteed Ls each year isn’t a good way to get a better paying gig.
Plus, a big school playing Newton is kinda like picking a fight in a gay bar. You can’t brag if you win, but you’d better not lose.

CardinalBacker reacted to Alpha Wolf in BISD Votes to Merge Central and Ozen beginning in 2018-19
I doubt it. The ones that would quit in Beaumont are already not playing. Go read my post from yesterday about Quitters. Being pushed is what these kids need and will bring out the best in them, it's in their DNA. Now Bridge City on the otherhand...

AMEN!!!
I agree with this 100% - this is not just Beaumont - this is Nation wide
