  1. It was a long week. I just needed some peace and quiet.
  2. Dr Bain was in the stands and he looked like he knows what's coming.
  3. Well, it got kinda noisy over that way, and all I saw was a lady wearing a shirt that said "Jones's Mom" on the back yelling back up the stands at somebody. But I honestly wasn't very close and there was obviously more going on than just that. The police came, people left, and that was about it from my perspective. Big props to the Silsbee D. They had a heck of a first half. I hated WOS's uniforms. You can't read the numbers from the stands. Bye weeks suck.
  4. Jack finally gets to be a Cardinal. Congrats!

  6. Depends on what Silsbee puts on the internet between now and then.
  7. I'm starting to wonder... They got beat 51-6 by Stafford last night. Navasota has one last non-district game to get it together. Our next game will be a district game against Cleveland. We don't have any more time to gel... The next game counts.
  8. Post game thoughts. I was only able to watch the first half, so that's all I can comment on. Newton came out and executed a game plan so seamlessly that you'd never know they were missing 4 starters, allegedly. I don't want to diminish what the Newton kids were doing tonight. They played well enough to beat our you-know-whats up and down the field. It was absolutely the most uninspired and undisciplined performance I've seen from the Cards in years. Stupid penalties and carelessness with the football are killing us.
  9. I disagree in your first point about offending your target audience being an appropriate goal. I whole-heartedly agree with your second point about the disrespect sent out President's way. He's President Obama when I disagree with him, not any of the zillions of insulting nicknames people throw on him. The office deserves respect whether I agree with his opinions or not. Please understand that not everyone agrees with the opinion that this country is horrible place that is guilty of continually oppressing people of color. Just because you believe it doesn't make it true, and the fact that I don't feel the same as you on the subject doesn't make me wrong, either. The Bible tell us to remove the mote from our own eye before trying to remove the beam from my brother's. I young Mr Kapernick wanted to be taken seriously by the rest of Americans, he should be protesting about the thousands of young black men senselessly killed by other young black men, rather than wearing his "pigs wearing police hats" socks. I can get behind that kind of movement.
  10. No, they're disrespectful, too. Or ignorant, if nothing else.
  11. Personally If I was coaching I would allow these young protestors to continue their protest throughout the game by not participating. My guess is that their protest would last one week, max. There are way better ways to protest than insulting the majority of Americans who DO love their country and what it stands for. These protesters aren't convincing anyone to consider their cause by disrespecting the flag, our military, our war dead, etc.... When you stand for the raising of the flag and anthem, you are paying respect to hundreds of thousands of young men, many of whom were drafted into service at the same age as these protestors, that gave their lives for all of us. If you want to crap on that, I have a hard time respecting you or your opinions, "protestors."
  12. C'mon, man! You gotta believe in your team! Be honest about everybody else.... don't ever doubt the locals. What kind of fan are you?
  13. Physically I think we're okay... it's the mental part that's still up in the air. But if anybody can get the kids focused, Dubois can. Our defense has been a question mark all year, and it doesn't help that one of the bright spots in that secondary won't be playing. Newton is a great team, but it seems like it's been harder for them to match up with teams from bigger schools the last few years. Bigger bodies and more of them tend to grind the Eagles down the stretch... If there really are a bunch of key Eagles out this week, I think it'll be a good game that we take as the game wears on. I still expect to hear that freakin' fire truck a few times, though.
  14. I'm on my best behavior this week. It's been hard.
  15. Cayce Draper from BC would be an honorable mention. He was out week 2, and managed 119 or so yards on the chain gang. It's going to be hard to hit awesome numbers because we're only playing nine games jnstead of ten and he's been out one of those. He'll impress by season's end.

  17. I like LCM's chances this week.
  18. In all fairness, WOS's kicker probably had to ice his foot after this past Friday.
  19. That's the truth... on two separate drives we picked up decent first down yardage, then ran a pitch outside with the edge set and what appeared to be daylight in the secondary, only to drop the pitch and have to fall on the ball with close to ten yards lost.... 1st and 10, 2nd and 6, 3rd and 15.... we just couldn't convert third and long on that defense... there aren't many third and long plays in our playbook. The Center/QB exchange has been a problem since the season began. I think we were down to maybe three fumbles on that exchange this week. It's hard to play 4 yards and a cloud of dust when you lose a down to fumbling, if not losing possession. I don't know how it's fixed, but it needs to be. We're shooting ourselves in the foot. I think the team will bounce back this week and match up well with Newton. Two consecutive byes, then we open district play with Cleveland and LCM. They would seem to be our most favorable district matchups, but the last part of our schedule is a grinder. HH will be good, and it looks like Silsbee is starting to find their identity. It all comes down to how the team overcomes the distraction that they created for themselves last week, and if we are able to replace the missing part of our secondary. It will be interesting to see.
  20. Very true.... I'd expect this to be a good game, but I believe BC will escape from Newton with a hard-fought win this Friday. Especially if you guys have that many key players out. Either way, I'm hoping for a cleanly-played, injury-free game this week. I'm also making a vow to refrain from voicing my hatred of all things Newton-related this year. I appreciate all of the Newton fans being on their best behavior so I don't have to come back here and verbally assault you all with my considerable wit and remarkable sarcasm. Go Cards!
  21. No, they were saying that KJ took over the game.
  22. Yeah, it was strange. Our #4 protested the no-call, then Dubois took it up with the ref and line judge. They ended up throwing a flag long after the play was over. It seemed like the ref asked the line judge what he'd seen, and then was like "you should have thrown the flag," so he did. I honestly didn't have the best view of what happened, other than at a glance it looked like 4 got smoked while the ball was in the air.... But I can't swear to it. Not that it made any difference, lol.
  23. Nice job, Tigers.
  24. Post game thoughts... I knew that WOS is great this year, and we knew what we needed to do if we had any chance of winning. We obviously did not do those things. WOS's D is filthy, and the last thing we needed to do is kick over the hornet's nest. I'm a homer all of the way, but I have no problem with the way the game was played by WOS. My hat is off to the young men from WOS. Not only did they play a fantastic game, but they were very, VERY sportsmanlike in what could have been an ugly game. I can't overstate what a fine group of competitors that proved themselves to be. The postgame pleasantries between Coach Dubois and some of our players reaching out to the victim of this weeks racial hatred, and his receptiveness to their gestures was a great thing, I believe. WOS's field goal game needs some work before they get deep into the playoffs. Otherwise I don't see any weak spots. We need to throw all of our cell phones into Cow Bayou and stay the hell off of social media. We'll be a better team for having played a highly motivated WOS team. I've got to reiterate what a fine group of young men are taking the field for WOS this year. Y'all should be proud. I'm glad I can go back to being a WOS fan after this disaster of a week and game.
