  1. We didn't have any problems scoring during our scrimmage vs WOS last year. I know, it's just a scrimmage, the stangs have gotten better, the field was wet, the WR didn't go where Jack wanted him to, blah, blah, blah. I hope the kids over there are reading this crap and believing that we don't have a chance.
  2. We're due? Honestly, this is a special BC group. Nobody cares about the past, but this group of BC kids and the same group of WOS kids have exchanged wins and losses through pee-wee and junior high until the D1 and D2 split put us in separate districts. The WOS kids continued to develop through junior high and high school. We really didn't do a whole lot until Coach Dubois took over last year. I distinctly remember watching the teams warm up before the 7th grade matchup between these two (which we won) and seeing the WOS kids doing back-pedaling drills, blocking drills, etc.... while our kids were doing back-bends and otherwise jacking around in the other end zone. I experienced actual dread as you could tell that the WOS kids were being coached while ours were just getting bigger. On one hand it's been great to watch all of the success that this group of Mustangs have had over the last few years. I don't think WOS has a better second fanbase than BC. It's also been a total drag to know that we SHOULD be able to compete with them if we'd continued to steadily develop the way that they did. I guess it's more of a question of whether or not our efforts are too little and too late. The difference between this team and past BC teams is that it's a talented bunch. They've had lots of success before public school coaching, and also since Dubois came back to town. People can moan and groan about the Slot T, but it suits our personnel, and Dubois's system has proven itself to be effective.... perhaps more effective than a lot of other programs that run the Slot T. Besides that, these BC kids HAVE sent the same WOS kids home crying before. They're not AT ALL intimidated by the Stangs, ala LCM. No offense to Chris17 (the only LCM poster here). If the stangs go up 21-0, it's over. Duh. But if we draw first blood and Stangs realize that they WON'T be pulling the starters at any point, or even find themselves trailing.... BC will not let them up. How many times will the #1 ranked, defending state champs (after 2 SC appearances), who you've beaten before, show up in your house and give you the opportunity to make your name? The Cards have nothing to lose and everything to gain. And they're hungry. C'mon, Friday.
  3. Yeah, that's flattering but I definitely don't think we've earned that kind of praise yet.
  4. There's eight pages of people saying that we don't belong on the field with the mighty mustangs. I hope you guys realize that we haven't played our starters in the second half this year, either. Hell, we didn't even have our leading rusher in the game last Friday. It doesn't matter.... the game still has to be played.
  5. That's the funny thing... Hunter Denton has and can outrun anybody that's coming to town Friday night. But why let facts get in the way of the "BC has no athletes" myth.

  7. The field at Sislbee stays bad because THAT is how the Athletic Department eventually gets turf. It's not that hard or expensive to move in a little dirt, shoot grade, and blue- top that field. Very, very little money to do so in the off-season.
  8. WOS is bringing back 16 or so starters as defending state champions. Anybody that doesn't favor them in this matchup is delirious. They SHOULD win this game. nobody is kidding themselves about how special the Mustangs are this year. Bruce Lee once said that he wasn't scared of a man that knew 10,000 different kicks.... He was scared of a man that knew one kick, but had practiced it 10,000 times. We're going to run on WOS. Believe that. BC wins this one in a dogfight.
  9. The rumor about BC picking up a game with a Lousiana team on one of our bye weeks was making the rounds again yesterday. Anything concrete from anybody in the know?
  10. Are y'all going to blame the refs again this year if you lose?
  11. We're playing BYE twice this year. Frickin' Brock.

  14. I heard he transferred to Silsbee.
  15. I don't think anything will ever top the time a few years ago when the kid from Stafford drew a penalty against us and then started giving his teammates the business. Their coaches were calling him to the sidelines... He got about halfway there and turned around and ran back to midfield to fight kids from his own team. They ended up cuffing that kid and walking him down the track, pads and all and stuffing him in a police car. Wild stuff.
  16. I haven't heard anything else about it. It's a month or less away now, so I'll be surprised if the game actually happens.
  17. We're planning on it... Don't let last nights 56-15 win over HF fool you, though. We've still got a lot of things to fix. Hopefully we bounce through these next three non-district games, recover through the consecutive bye weeks and start district play as a legit contender for the DC. I'm sure that Silsbee, Navasota, and Huffman will get back on track shortly... We just have to make sure that we improve, too. Go Cards!
  18. Paper tiger is a literal English translation of the Chinese phrase zhilaohu(紙老虎). The term refers to something that seems threatening but is ineffectual and unable to withstand challenge.
  19. Wow... My two least favorite teams. It's hard to pick who I want to lose next week, but I expect Silsbee to. I think the Eagles are just playing better FB at this stage of the game, and that will be enough to beat the (paper) Tigers. The Tigers should gel before District play starts... It just doesn't seem like that is happening yet. It is important to point out how Silsbee Fan has changed his tune from "great things this year... We're going to be playing in December" to "we only ran three plays" and "we should be throwing the ball more to what's left of the Best Receiving Corp in Southeast Texas."
  20. Good win for the Cards. Cards drew first blood by returning the opening kickoff for a TD, but HF returned the favor. Their RB 24 was wrapped up and taken down, but somehow managed to roll off of our defender and break free for a long TD. I'd also like to say that both teams seemed to play a clean game between the whistles. The Longhorns just seemed to be undersized and outmatched in this particular game, but they never gave up and had some good moments, particularly the play of their 24 as well as their mid-range passing attack. For us... The cards didn't play very disciplined football last night. It's the first game of the season, but we still had too many procedural penalties last night for a group that's this senior-heavy. It won't be as easy to make up those five-yard setbacks as the competition gets tougher. The RBs for BC have speed across the board. The score was 49-15 when the skilled positions on offense were benched before the end of the first half. Classy move by Coach Dubois, but I hope we have time to settle into a mid-season groove before that two week break in late September. Great start to what I expect to be a good season for the Cards. I felt like we needed a win like this over HF if we expect to contend for a playoff spot.
  21. BC takes a 7-0 lead with 11:45 remaining the first.
  22. I thought I'd been banned again.
  23. For Sale... Nice 3/2/2 in Port Neches. Motivated seller.
