Based on history, you'd have to think Navasota. It seems like Navasota isn't "Navasota" this year. With that and a long ride on the big yellow dog for the Rattlers, I'll pick BC. We just have to refocus after that emotional win over Silsbee. We also need to ignore all of the senior night garbage thats planned for Friday. It's not over yet, and we can't overlook anybody.

HJ winning wasn't a fluke. Liberty scoring against WOS will be a fluke.... -
I had a bad angle on the play in which they didn't stop the clock after the Silsbee Rb made it out of bounds. I wondered if he might have been moving slightly backwards and the refs gave him forward progress instead. It looked like a stoppage was due from where I was sitting.

So.... which game did you watch?

Does this mean HJ gets to be ranked now? -
Anybody making it out of the first round will be battle-tested, for sure. I thought Carthage was in 3rd.... did they lose again?

It seems like every week somebody steps up and takes over. This week it was Denton. Last week it was Baker. Our offense is like death by a thousand cuts. Silsbee committed to slowing down Draper and they did a really good job. Awesome game. You guys should win out and be sitting pretty going into the playoffs. Good luck.

Don't hate.... congratulate!

Post game thoughts... I'm not sure if Silsbee knew how much BC wanted this win. This one has been circled on the calendar since last year. Our kids definitely brought out their best efforts tonight. Silsbee is fast, no doubt... i just don't think anybody thought we could run with them. Willie Jones is much more elusive than I thought. The ref situation is getting worse. I don't feel like they're being unfair... they just miss a lot of calls. Not just this game, but across the board. Coach Smith is taking his team in a good direction. I think I called the Tigers "clowns" after our game last year. If I paid attention, we easily won the "who can rack up the most 15 yard penalties" contest. The Tigers are playing much more disciplined football. The wins will come. It's a shame that somebody had to lose this game. Silsbee will win out, IMO. Good luck!

Wha? Ric Flair on two!!!! One! Two! WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

We were just ahead when time ran out.... great game TIgers!!!!
-
:35 is way too long with Silsbee Offense.
-
Who would have thought we'd get the 1st and only unsportsmanlike penalty?
-
I would have been crying, too. Good game. A few penalties by both, but nothing too obvious in either direction. I'm impressed with the way the Tigers are playing.
-
he was moving backwards... forward progress keeps the clock moving.
-
21 all... tiger ball with 1:02 left in the half.
-
it looks like Silsbee isn't all that fast, or maybe we have a little speed, too?

Get a win, Bears! -
Good luck and hoping good an injury-free contest that we can all talk about for a while. And a BC win. Go Cards!

Celina Qb Pingleton should be Suspended!
CardinalBacker replied to ThunderCat's topic in High School Football
I'd say that a two game suspension should be sufficient. If the kid he stomped had been seriously injured, I'd say that the suspension should last until the injured kid is able to return to action. As far as college offers go, I'd assume that anybody looking at this kid would also see the suspension or at least question the drop in production caused by the suspension and be able to make a better assessment of the total package that they'd be getting. There's just no excuse for this type of behavior. -
Draper missed one game due to illness and also left the Newton game after a few plays. We've also played one less game than Silsbee with our consecutive bye weeks. He's still getting his yardage up the field, but like ST413 said, it's consistent gains on shorter runs. He definitely doesn't have Tyler's breakaway speed in the open, and his yardage totals are nowhere near Tyler's. On the other hand there are multiple other RBs from BC who also bring a lot of speed and carry for lots of yardage. Baker, Morris, Denton, Trahan (QB) and Lara all have multiple rushing TDs. It seems like defenses are focusing on stopping Draper between the tackles and giving up more yards to the other guys. Either way, it's been working out just fine. I think that it will be a back-and-forth affair with both teams exchanging TDs... The only thing that will change that is if one team or the other can establish a big lead early due to turnovers or by forcing 3-and-outs. I'm not sure either team is built for coming back if they fall behind by more than a couple of touchdowns.

And WOS played MUCH tougher opposition to earn those numbers. It's nice to see Liberty having a good year for Liberty.... the only problem is that WOS is having a GREAT year for high school football...

Come to historic Larry Ward Stadium in Bridge City.... 7:00pm. The Cardinals will be hosting the Silsbee Tigers in what promises to be a key matchup in the race for the district championship. You'll get to see our clock-grinding running attack, as well as Silsbee's "hands-down, best receiving corp in southeast Texas." Pardon me, I meant the two-headed rushing attack of highly recruited Silsbee RB Calvin Tyler, Jr. and the underated Adonis Thomas. All jokes aside, both teams are looking forward to this matchup, and with the defenses of both squads being, well.... kinda suspect, it should be a high(er) scoring, fun game to watch. Good concessions on both sides of the field, decent parking, plenty of room in the stands, and I understand we could be having another flyover by the Blue Angels. Or at least the Orange County Mosquito Control plane. Join us!
