Newton didn't pick this schedule to try and have an unbeaten season, this schedule will test them and give me a good indication of what kind a team they are. Win all three or lose all three it doesn't matter, hoisting that trophy at the end of the year does.

They beat them passing not running. PG total running for the game 111 yards, passing 254 yards. So no PG could not run on them.

that's why they play a bunch of 4a schools preseason and the regular season is set by the UIL.

we all don't wear rose colored glasses. I know they have divisions for a reason and I am glad they do. Carthage had a mean team last year and no I would not want to play them.

once again don't let a few rotten apples spoil the barrel. I don't think anybody is running scared. I've always wanted to play WOS. Win or lose( lost more than we won 1- 7) always could get a good feel about the team from that game.

Please everyone don't take this to mean every eagle thinks or feels this way. I certainly don't. Some just have no humility. I know there is more to scheduling than that.

This is a bunch of high school kids we are talking about. Where anything from Mom and Dad are having a fight to Mary broke up with Johnny could affect the game. Psychy has a lot to do with this game.

They have been split for twenty years, have they made it easier, yes. Yet like you stated who knows if Dll could beat Dl they never played. But the UIL made this decision, not anybody else you play with the hand you are dealt. If it was up to me I would have Dl play Dll. Either way the coach matters. I have seen great teams loose because of coaching errors.

One more thing I forgot is a little bit of luck( bounce of the ball), if not for that North Shore has another State Championship.

It takes three things to win a state championship, players, good coaches allowed to do their job and parents who do not interfere with the coaches. Winning begets participation. I have been to games where I saw students sitting in the stands who looked liked they might be pretty good athletes. Why in the stands and not participating, who wants to put all that time practicing expending blood, sweat and tears into losing. I have seen teams with athletes and the coaches not know what to the with them. I have seen coaches favor athletes ( don’t work rest of the players recents it), let outside interest influence who plays and where ( don’t work, need your best players in the position that benefits the team the most). It takes a great coach to inspire the kids and rule ( my way or the highway) and avoid the outside influences ( look back on 2014 Newton 1-3 going into playing WOS. Coach Johnson speaking to a reporter said if the players would listen to him and the parents would stay out of it and let him do his job everything would be okay. The rest is history, went on and defeated WOS and played for a state championship) What made the difference, same roster no new players. Coaching made the difference. I fully believe every school has athletes getting them to participate is another chore, but a winning tradition breeds participation.
