A lot of guesses

Is it right? IMHO no, but putting restrictions in place that would hurt the eligibility of an honest transfer would not be right either. In my day if you transferred you sat out of varsity play for one year no if, ands or buts. Yet that wasn't right for the kids to suffer because the move was made because a better job was found or mom and dad split and the one with custody left town. This isn't a perfect world and there will always be somebody try to cheat the system. It is up to each individual to make the right decision, it always is(the clerk gives you back too much change, do you tell her or pocket the windfall.) Honesty is the best policy. A mans word used to mean something, now a days it's hard for a mans written word to mean anything. No system will ever be perfect as long as people try to cheat it.

Newton needs more conditioning, everybody walking around and confused on offense toward the end. They need to find somebody that can catch. Newton’s defense needs work in the secondary. The run defense wasn’t bad but still needs some work. Nederland’s quarterback has a good arm and a quick release, their running back runs hard and he is quick. Looks like they have a couple of good receivers that can catch. Nederland's defense looked good at stopping the run, but weak at the pass, maybe defense was setup to stop the run. Lumberton has to learn how to stop penetration if they are going to run that offense. Lumberton’s defense is not terrible, just read keys better. As it looks right now Newton will have to rely heavily on its defense for a third run, but the year is young and things can get worked out or changed, better conditioning is a must.

I think it is the same one, not sure.

Grad you could be totally right on Newton and Jasper, but it wasn't to long ago I saw threads where both Newton and Jasper were looking for scrimmages and one guy posted on here that Newton would be in a three way scrimmage with Nederland and Lumberton. Just curious.

If you think that is good, get you a good defense and see how far you go. And I said good defense, something that allows 10 pts or less.

As long as you're happy beating Nederland and nothing else.

Here is Newton's record since 1994 against: Bridgecity 7-2, Orangefield 11-1, Silsbee 7-2, Jasper 4-4, Wos 2-4. In '98 lost to Wos won state championship. In 2014 got" rolled" by Orangefield 26-20, lost championship game. Looking at the records I wonder where all these molly-whoopins are?

Didn't do this to argue with anyone, just trying to get a discussion going. I'm bored. I have no idea what kind of team they will be until I see them play. They could be great or just so-so, time will tell. A lot of talent graduated and we have new coaches. Anxious to see them play.

It's nothing against Silsbee, they start slow and get better as the year goes on.

I got interrupted. the only thing is Silsbee is a slow starter. The Silsbee that went four rounds deep last year was not the same team we played earlier in the year.
