BC isn’t a football town. The kids, PARENTS, and community aren’t willing to do what it takes to have a winning program. I mean, they wouldn’t mind winning... unless it meant getting sweaty. 
Coach Dubois is, in my opinion, easily one of the top ten “x &o”coaches in the area, and the absolute best leader of young men. BC will not likely see another coach of his caliber in our future. 
Band parents didn’t like that he had the band  removed from the sidelines during the actual games... so they complained. There were too many “why don’t they throw the ball more... we’ve already ran that play five times” from Day One. Ummm... because BC isn’t a qb factory. Year before last we beat teams with multiple D1 recruits with a bunch of kids that had one kid move one to play at a D2 school. One. That’s coaching. 
A lot of heat came up last year when one of the star players was injured in practice. The parents were very vocal in blaming Coach Dubois for that injury... plenty of others were quick to join in. 
I’d have gone back to HJ, too  
 

And I think you will find the same for WO-S fans toward Newton.  But when you have certain Newton announcers (yes, I know one of them is part of the Newton announce team) and players (lest you think otherwise, please check young Mr. Brown's twitter timeline) start running their mouths about WO-S, you can expect blowback to occur.
I am glad the game will occur and, regardless of the outcome, I think both schools will be better for it.

CardinalBacker, the refs were indeed blind and lived in Countryside courts, Parkland Cir.

Other than a little question at QB, we will have 2 to choose from, we will be very good. Lots of talent as always in skill positions, our lines will be much improved as well our defense. Our D got younger and much better later in the season last year. Say what you want but we probably played the 2 state champs as well as anyone. We just laid some eggs when it counted most. Not saying we would have won, but I would have loved to get one more shot at PG in the region finals. We should have won the district game. D let us down with 30 seconds to go.

Honestly, I wish that WOS and Netwon go ahead play each other in week 3. Past is past. Move on and let boys play rather limit games. Also, it does not matter or about losing. It will help them both to success and improvement in area before the district and playoff. 
Coaches need realize that. Again, I am not coach. 

In 2015 when the question was asked, “can WOS return to the state championship game,” I said no. 
Before this season started I again answered the same question with “no,” based on the number of talented kids that were lost to graduation. 
Once more I have underestimated the Mustangs, and I stand corrected.
 

Newton’s got their work cut out for them. Gunter runs the triple option out of the shotgun. Their defense extremely disciplined and tackle well. They didn’t give up more than two TDs on defense all year until last night. They have some good Junior talent especially at RB and will probably be back in the title game next year. The San Augustine Wolves look to punch their ticket to AT&T Stadium next week as they take on the Refugio Bobcats in this Class 2A, Division I State Semfinal!  Marty Murr's Wolves, 14-0 on the season, reached this round with a 55-6 bi-district win over Deweyville, a 39-7 area round win over Wolfe City, a 58-27 regional semifinal win over Price Carlisle and a 50-15 regional final win over Centerville.
Meanwhile, the Bobcats, 12-1 on the season, started their playoff road with a 57-0 bi-district win over Ben Bolt, a 47-13 area round win over Thorndale, a 70-29 regional semifinal win over Holland and a 38-14 regional final win.
Start time for the game is 7 pm at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium (Berry Center) in Cypress.
The winner of this game will face the Stratford/Mart state semfinal which is also being contested tonight.
