You only look at things through your point of view. Was slavery and everything that went along with bad, you bet it was. I know you mentioned you had a gr grandfather that was a slave. I am truly sorry about that, irregardless if you think I don't. But no matter how bad the past was, at some point one must move on. You see the flag as a symbol of slavery, others don't. Whether or not that flag flies, it will not change history. History is was it is, history. We can't change it, but we can learn it.

The problem is no matter what point I bring up or link I post......if it does not say Slavery was the main cause of the Civil War, it won't be correct.
You're right, and I honestly feel that if the flag had not used as a symbol by the KKK and other hate groups, we would not be having these discussions.

Hippy, how can you say slavery became an issue a couple of years into the Civil War? Have you studied the Texas Independence War? What about that Missouri Statehood problem. Oh, and don't forget about my man Fredrick Douglass and his friends. We're referencing the 1820's to 1850's. And as a sidebar , what year did John Brown have that altercation. And Alexander Stephens (yall's VP for the new country) as I have already noted on here said it was about slavery. Go read his Cornerstone Speech.
Everybody have their own opinions , no problem. But I won't allow anyone to minimize what happened without me making a counter- comment.
Don't think anybody is trying to minimize anything. Just because one disagrees with another on an issue, does not mean they are minimalizing that issue.

FYI, for many of us the term 'States Rights " is nothing but a code word used back in the day for the right to continue slavery.
There are those of us on here that will agree to disagree over the flag. There is one thing that is for sure and that is we can all agree that slavery, hangings, and all other atrocities should not have ever happened. The removal of all symbols of the South will not change this. There is nothing we can do about what happened then. We need to realize that just because we don't agree with what is taking place, does not mean one is racist or not. It is just a difference of opinions. In the end, all of this is really getting nobody anywhere.

One more thing about BS. I wish they had a football team. For whatever reason, in most Sports around here, none of 2A schools are competitive in our District. We breeze thru Dist, and then have to play them two outsiders, Iola & Normangee & tote a whippin. Volleyball last year. Did not lose a set (not sure if that's correct word) in Dist. Seems strange to me. Why we consistently play 3 & 4A schools (and occasionally 5A) in non-District. And most of the time win.
At last count our Sr class has 30 kids. They do a lot with a little there.
Me to, don't know but money may have something to do with it.

I know you're right. As I've said before, been here in Evadale about six years. With both GK's popular, been around a lot of kids and NEVER heard one use a racial slur. And as most know, their mascot is Rebels. But what most don't know, the colors are Blue & Gold (dam Yankee colors). Friend of mine said they an identity crisis lol. Also, the school emblem is a Crest, with the flag in it. And I've never seen a rebel flag being waved at a ball game.
As the kids & people in Evadale aren't racist, I hope the people & media in the area will allow this little community to retain their mascot.
Hope they're allowed to keep it as well, but somebody with nothing better to do will try to stir the pot. By the way, that baseball rivalry between Big Sandy and Evadale is great. Mine graduated this year, but I'm at least gonna try to catch these two games for sure. If it's anything like last three years, they will get to play each other 3 times.

What are the licensing requirements for Sabine Lake? I heard you had to have a permit to go along with your license. If that is so, what is cost of permit?

I know Obama and I have had our differences, but if he could get Blue Bell back on the shelves, it would one GREAT thing I'd have to give him. Kudos for.
This company is based in Texas, he could care less. He would just as soon it move to a northern democratic controlled state. Kind of like what he did with the company that had the govt. contract in Sealy. And don't think he was not behind the decision to not give Houston one of the retired shuttles.

So, what does a flag mean? Was that the question? So when it comes to a moral victory for a race other than yours, it's no big deal. Another basic historical principle practiced by many in this country. To minimize any positive steps made by People of Color. So, I guess the flag raised at Ima Jima had no significant value? So, I guess the flag taken down in Iraq had no value to many of you? What is a flag? You guys kill me with your blinded bias ways.
