Yessir I know he did, and there's absolutely no question on how great of a coach he was...you could always tell the kids loved playing for him. "Can't win the Kentucky Derby with a mule!" Quite possibly the greatest comment ever!

Yessir i see what the topic is, and the influx is obviously not the sup's fault; i just wanted to talk about it on a statewide level. Lots of teams that were dominant in years past have collapsed and will never return to prominence. Sorry bout getting off topic.

I'm certainly agreeing with him on that! As a matter of fact you see it all across the state; there are numerous programs that were once very proud and successful that are now struggling to win because of this....just to name a few in East Texas that are suffering dearly: Alto, Tenaha, Jacksonville, Henderson, Tatum...these are a few of the schools (just in east Texas). Make no mistake its happening on a very large scale across the entire state

I could not agree more. Here's my take on things...for what its worth: when the football team is successful, then everything else usually follows suit. I'm still lost as to why Coach Prieto was run off? Where is the new Crosby head coach from? Good luck with the mess you have created Crosby!

David Whitmore, Greg Evans, and Thomas Evrett, all from Daingerfield, we're all playing in the NFL at the same time in the early 90's... Pretty impressive for a town with a population of less than 2,000. Granted this was 20 years ago, but still somewhat impressive.

And if it's really the 'craphole' and the 'armpit of southeast Texas' then why do people from suburbs and other small towns faithfully drive here every day to work, shop, go out to eat, or other family orientated events? Doesn't sound quite like a craphole to me unless your views are majorly flawed.

On the flipside I've never in my 3+ decades of living heard anyone make plans or preparations to travel or move to Chester, Texas. Most have never even heard of it.

I know Chester is pretty much crap, but when is the last time ANY school from Beaumont did ANYTHING worth notoriety in ANY sport. I rest my case.
