  1. Wow, you really seem full of spite, that's a shame, East Texas is a GREAT place to be. Sounds like you could use a few quite evenings up there looking at the stars. It tends to make a man realize how small he is... and going back to living like "old times" doesn't sound half bad to me! Do I hear Mayberry's theme song? You are all whistling now aren't you?

You hit the nail on the head brother...EAST Texas is great! As for going back to old times, I'm all for it!
  2. A Sup. bringing in his/her man is what created the mess they have on hand now. The new Sup. needs to listen to the school board's recommendations this time and choose the best of those candidates. They are elected to represent the community, so they should make decisions based on the constituents ideals.

Barnyard was a power hungry, egotistic, control freak. She stiffed this school district several times while she was in power. Glad she is gone and I think that her replacement will do a much better job. So far, he is right on the mark and I feel that this change is the first in a long line of very positive changes coming to AISD.

Best of luck to Coach Murr and his family. Hopefully he will land in a great spot for him and his family. Seems like he was doing a good job, just made some bad hires and the buck stops at his door. Thats the way life is when you are the head honcho.

School boards are not supposed to have anything to do with the hiring of anyone but the superintendent
  3. Bottom line is you need talent. It wasn't a coincidence that Vidor made it's deepest playoff run at the same time as their best football player, probably in program history, came through. You know Mr. Quirante, winner of both Willie Ray Smith awards. Coach Mathews was the same coach that season as he was last season. Difference was talent. I understand what you say about working hard and building from the lower levels, but you still need a certain level of talent to be successful.

    +1
  4. Name teams in the area in which the football coach is the AD they never win on a consistent basis:

    Hemphill
    Warren
    Kountze
    H-F
    Woodville

The argument of having the AD be the head football coach to produce a winner lacks validity. Is the baseball and basketball coach not capable of leading a SPORTS PROGRAM to success?

All of the aforementioned teams are trash and always will be trash in football. Look at all of the state champions classes 1A-3A in the last 10 years and see how many of their head coaches weren't the AD. I honestly don't know, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say everyone of them was the AD. Just saying.
  5. Lol so should the governor of California be the President of the United States just because they have the highest population? Doesn't make much sense. Like I said: if he's qualified, give him the AD job too. If he's not, then don't pass on another, more qualified applicant who just so happens to coach another sport. That's all I'm saying.

It's gonna be the same story in Woodville. Trust me, y'all will not be successfull at the 2A level(new 3A) if y'all hire a head football coach that is not the AD. Name a successful football(3A and under) school in Texas where the football coach is not the AD...exactly, there's not one!
  6. What happened to Todd Dodge at North Texas?

I can tell you what happened to Dodge at North Texas..he got paid a million dollars a year..he was there for 3 years.. Texas teacher retirement takes your best 3 years and he's gonna get 70% of that the rest of his life when he retires. If my math is correct, that's $700,000 a year for the rest of his life..that's what Todd Dodge did at North Texas.
  7. Wild guess: Beaumont or Port Author

I bet that he/she is not in Vidor or Evadale.

All that I said was that I saw the Coach at Chester was mowing yesterday. Didn't know that it was an opportunity to pile on a place for being less developed.

Chester/Colmesneil/Woodville/Warren may not have the nicest restaurants or all of the amenities of a "big city" but we don't have corruption in our schools (BISD), we don't have teachers engaged in inappropriate acts with students (BH), we don't have teachers hitting students (PA), etc.

Port Author?? You're real smart I see. Last time I checked it was spelled Port Arthur Tom.
  8. News crews were not allowed at the game, but spectators tell KHOU that the Eagles won. Really, So the media was banned from covering the game? And isn't this the same coach that everybody complained about last year saying that she was the reason why they fell short in the playoffs?

I'm hearing a certain parent there, whose kid graduated last year for craps sake, had a serious issue with the coach and this is the reason that she was put on leave...it's also important to note that she wasn't one of Gage's hires, and word is he wanted to get rid of her too.
  9. I saw the coach in Chester mowing yesterday. He is responsible for all of his field maintenance, striping, etc.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the Chester AD teaches a full class load and is probably the asst principal as well. I'm pretty sure they shot the movie Deliverance out there in Chester.
  10. HD will have stud QB Cade Huckaby coming back for his Senior year. Cade was a physical specimen as a 6'2 215lb junior QB/LB, surely he will grow some more as a Senior. Cade has very deceptive breakaway speed and seems to step up at critical times.

TE/DE Kyle Hopkins at 6'3 260lbs will be back for his Senior year. Kyle has the ability to dominate on both sides of the line. Kyle is very athletic for his size. (Kyle's brother is Petey Hopkins Nederland RB)

RB/CB Martin Doucet at 5'9 170lbs will be back for his Senior year. Martin is a speedster with high 4.4 speed. Martin has the ability to take every carry 80 yards. Martin is also a track star.

RB/CB Sedric DeBlanc at 5'9 165lbs will be back for his Senior year. Sedric is a gym rat and built like a Greek God with 4.5 speed. Sedric's agility and vision running the ball is a sight to see. Sedric is a track kid.

Right you were Mr Garrity..this here is his post from a month or so ago
  11. strange thing is I believe that same post was on another thread started by the same person who started this one a few months ago. Lol

  12. So the problem is that Woodville won't make the head football coach the AD? Because it's been that way forever and we saw how that's worked out lol and if it's about hiring in-house, then I think you'll be surprised about how well this person will do as AD. No names given.

How has the football team faired past few yrs?
  13. The only public knowledge I can share is that the Boys Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach jobs are open. But not as a combo position. They could hire one person as both, but the head football coach won't be the AD just because he's the head football coach. Personally, I believe the Boys AD will be assigned from in house.

    There in lies the problem
  14. Amen Chester86. Deweyville anyone?

They could hire Jimmy Johnson and it's still not gonna matter, they're going to be poo poo. That district is a nightmare. Coach Babin hit the high road just in time. Granted, the odds are stacked against him at Warren, but at least Warren will give him a chance to win, unlike Deweyville..four asst football coaches is not gonna work folks!
