Goose Creek Memorial 4 Galena Park North Shore 3/FINAL
John Blutarsky replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Baseball
Correct me if I'm wrong.......and I hope I am. Didn't Summer Creek beat CV putting them at 8 and 5 while this win puts us at 6 and 7 with one game left. Hasn't the proverbial thread snapped? -

Game was supposed to be played at GCM. Sub Varsity teams played at Northshore. Location was changed because the first time they played the game was moved to Northshore because the weather turned "The Goose" into "The Goose Pond". -
Losing alot of seniors but only a few of them were contributers. Will still have alot of talent coming back. The JV underperformed like the Varsity but have a few that will slide right in with no drop off. I feel they'll have a better season next year. You have a strong core of juniors and sophomores that played travel ball together on and off over the years. I think they'll mesh better than this year's group did. I heard that there was discord between the seniors and the underclassmen this year.

Got one boy playing JV and one on the soph team so I don't get to see the Varsity games. Not many here following our district either. That being said, maybe we need to recruit more baseball parents to the board. In fact, I'd like to see Baytown represented a little better here in all sports.

H6AB has Atoscocita ranked #11 in the Houston area, Northshore #20 and GCM ranked 29th. Personally, I think GCM can finish higher than Northshore. Don't know much about Atoscocita except that they are usually a strong team.

22-5A vs 21-5A bidistrict venue prediction

Puny? Lamar's stadium seats 16,000. Stallworth seats 16,500. Granted I'm sure Lamar's stadium is much shiner with a ton more amenities, but being puny is not a problem with Stallworth. -

341 yds rushing 4 tds 61 yds passing 1 td 40 receiving 1 td Not a bad night at the office. Too bad the rest of the team didn't pull their weight and make this a win. We're sure going to miss him next year. -
Are you hearing this from an official source. I heard (not officially) that GCM's Spencer was out for the season and Corbett and Modest were as well. I asked my son if Spencer was at practice yesterday and he said no. Just curious if we're getting our player back as well.

Without their starting qb and rb Sterling is very vulnerable. It's levelled the playing field. This is the perfect time for Lee to make a statement. This is still a big rivalry so you can throw out team records. I would not count out Lee so easily.

I'm hoping for a close exciting game so it will encourage some of the 16000 to attend more football games. I'm sure a majority of them haven't been to one in years. All three Baytown schools deserve more support from their community. I would also like to see GCCISD do more to promote the high school football games and increase attendance. Weekly right ups in the local paper just don't do it anymore as a lot of people stopped reading newspapers a long time ago.

PNG arrives in Stallworth Stadium and quickly learn that purple is the new black.........and gold. The defeated Indians head back to their reservation on the "bus ride of tears" or as we know it, interstate 10. GCM coach Bren Jones noted " They tried to attack us by air, but our Patriot Missile Defense quickly shot 'em down." -
That's Lee though, they don't have the support that GCM and Sterling have. 27 to 24 GCM. Time to beat the purple loin cloths off the natives.

Great news. Congratulations to Deandre.

I hope your wrong. I do think there are some improvements that can be made to better this team and I also think there are other games we can win. Santa Fe and Sterling for starters. Maybe Atascocita can be our Nederland in this district. -
My thoughts, I just hope the Patriot team that steps on the field next week is ready to compete. And I'm not a fan of the color purple. Sorry.

The good ( yes there was some good): The boys did not quit. The defensive front 7 did not look bad and showed flashes of really good play against a much bigger o-line. Deandre Herman is a heck of runner when he has room to run and sometimes when he doesn't The bad: We have no depth in several key positions. The o-line is losing the battle at the line of scrimmage. Too many dropped passes. Too many open receivers for Tomball. The ugly: Second week in a row that the boys weren't ready to play. Too many penalties. In my opinion we have some people playing the wrong positions. Some of this can be fixed. Some can't. I think Coach Jones is going to have to make some personnel changes in some areas. May also have to look at bringing up a couple of kids from the JV that can contribute and help with the depth situation. We should have another playmaker back in the fold next week. Hopefully he can make some big plays and take some of the attention off Herman and Colon and open things up for them. Lastly, this was a much improved Tomball Memorial program than we've seen in the past. Hats off to them. -
Thursday at GCM for the freshman game. Friday at the biggest stadium in the Houston area watching the Patriots break in their new turf by pounding wildcat ball carriers into it.

Goose Creek Memorial vs Tomball Memorial
John Blutarsky replied to BlackShirts5's topic in High School Football
GCM by 10. If the kid from CV plays they will have a solid three headed running attack with him, Herman and Colon. Herman has to connect on some passes though to keep the defense honest. I hear TM is running the same offense Lee and Vidor run this year. Hopefully the defense bounces back from last week and plays with more speed and physicality. -
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about GCM after this scrimmage but it's still just a scrimmage. We were missing a few starters but so was PAM. The difference is we don't have the depth to overcome that. My biggest concern is the Patriots don't look like they're ready for opening day yet. Way too many penalties and the passing game is not clicking. The defense needs to find some speed on the corners and take better angles to contain speedier teams like PAM. This is why we have scrimmage though. I'm sure Coach Jones and staff will make the necessary adjustments and we'll see a better team next Friday. We still have a move in from Channelview that hasn't seen the field yet that should make a big impact. I'm looking forward to see how they use him.
